I think there's more to these military operations going on in the South here. Fulani herdsmen have been raiding villages and killing people but there was no military operation to clamp them down.

Now it's military operations where there's relative peace and quiet and nobody, especially our leaders here asking questions.

What if it's a rehearsal and to know the ins and outs of our areas for 2019 to keep us in check in case the elections don't favour them or go according to plan?

Well.... this exercise in the SW is just a clumsy way to justify the senseless operations in the SE.
The military has made the police, mobile police and civil defense jobless.
The military ought to be focused on mainly external aggression.
This whole exercise is senseless and counter productive to the unity, progress and sustainable development of our nation.

The operations in the south are also named in local languages, it's just that southerners love translating the names into English. For example, the operation that people call Operation Python Dance is actually called Operation Egwu Eke. https://twitter.com/egwueke2

Quite correct. South East is the target, South West is just to make it appear balanced and to fulfill all righteousness.

The Hausa's knows how to play divide and rule politics in the south.using army to threaten us.where is war in south.what are the soldiers doing?imagine our southerners are not talking because of politics. Where are the armour tanks as in southeast. They can fool only the fools

Actually there are military operations in virtually every part of Nigeria, including an operation to tackle the clashes between farmers and herdsmen. Read what's below.

To be fair, this isn’t entirely the fault of the military. The problem is caused by our porous borders and by poor record keeping in the military. The police force that was able to combat crimes in the 1970s and 1980s did not have to fight against criminals that wielded military grade weapons like general purpose machine guns, rocket propelled grenades, dynamite sticks and who wore ballistic helmets and bulletproof vests.

In the early 1990s, criminals armed with military grade weapons that were used in the Liberian, Sierra-Leonian and Guinean civil wars, were able to sweep across the border and attack Lagosians and the police couldn’t deal with them. Similarly, in the early 2000s, Niger Delta militants were able to exchange crude oil for weapons from (European) arms dealers on the high seas and the police couldn’t deal with them. In the North East, Boko Haram was able to receive weapons and training from groups in Libya, Somalia, Syria, etc. and the police couldn’t deal with them.

Now there are several military internal security operations in almost all states of the federation (they began with Operation Sweep in Lagos and the Rivers State Internal Security Task Force c1996).


1) Operation Delta Safe = Niger Delta (to combat Niger Delta militants, pipeline vandals, illegal refineries, kidnapping, etc.).

2) Operation Mesa = across the country (basically the same idea as Operation Sweep. To combat crime across the country).

3) Operation Safe Haven = Middle Belt (to combat clashes between “indigenes” and “settlers”, farmers and herdsmen, etc. in the middle belt)

4) Operation Tsare Teku = Atlantic Ocean, rivers and creeks. (To combat sea piracy – hijacking of ships and boats, extortion of mariners and their passengers, attacks on offshore oil installations, kidnapping, etc.)

5) Operation Lafiya Dole = North East. (To combat Boko Haram and bring peace to the North East)

6) Operation Gama Aiki = North East. (Multi-national effort to chase away Boko Haram)

7) Operation Sharan Daji = North West (to combat cattle thieves and bandits)

8 ) Operation Harbin Kunama II = North West (similar to Operation Sharan Daji)

9) Operation Awatsie = South West. (to combat pipeline vandals, militants and kidnappers in the creeks and borders of Lagos, Ogun and Ondo)

10) Operation Iron Fence = South East. (to combat kidnappers and armed robbers)

Troops of Operation Safe Haven in Jos Kill 5 Suspected Herdsmen Responsible for Attack on Ancha Community

The Nigerian Army on Monday said troops of Operation Safe Haven stationed in Plateau State have killed five of the suspected perpetrators of the recent killings in Plateau State in which 19 people were reportedly killed.

The killings were suspected to have been carried out by herdsmen over the death of a Fulani boy.

The Special Task which is responsible for maintaining peace in crisis ridding Jos communities, said it shot and killed five persons suspected to be assailants who attacked and killed 19 persons in Ancha, a village in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Captain Adamu Umar, spokesman for the Task Force, said, “Apart from the five persons that were killed by our men, some were injured.”

“One of the members of Task Force died in the encounter while another was injured”

He added that the injured soldier was responding to treatment.

Umar maintained that soldiers are still in Ancha village to restore peace and order, saying the soldiers have since commenced day and night patrol and are combing the area in search of the remaining assailants.

President Muhammadu Buhari has since condemned the attack, and urged security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators.

Why panic wen u are innocent? The army wants to evaluate the readiness of their personnel and people are scared. It's an exercise and it's not going to continue forever. Hunger wey get date no dey kill person.

What is the use of all these operation God knows what Army should be preoccupied with containing external aggression which BH is posing and not disturbing a peaceful civil populace.

Here in Mushin, Lagos state. There is zero military presence.
