I feel your pain. I first researched Equiano Olaudah about 3 years ago when FFK published his diatribe against igbos. And an igbo historian responded. Than i did my own unbiased checks.

Equiano Olaudah is NOT benin. Benin was a powerful empire for ages and their slave history is well documented from the 1500s. They know he is not their son hence the benin people have never claimed him.

In Olaudah Equianos book, he said that "our year being called Ah-affoe"

Year in Igbo is 'Afo'



Olaudah Equiano also said that his name 'Olaudah' means a loud good thing. Loud in Igbo is 'udah' and Ola means precious stone or metal.

Dont mind the guy. He is pained. I visited Equiano's wikipedia page 3 yrs ago and his roots was stated there as eboe (white man's spelling of igbo).

Today, i visited the same page and i see benin. I immediately deduced that one Yolobat has edited the page. Since they were unable to find an educated yoloba slave before equiano, they resorted to the Benin jargon. Nonsense.

For those yelling Eboe, Benin, Anambra, Delata, remember, what we had back in the days were names like:

Bini for Benin
Bendel for Benin and Delta.

Esseke could had been Etsako in Edo or Ishieke or so in Anambra.

Equianos could had been Ekwaino in the East.


In addition, those villages were geographically separated by forests, not by boundaries of states.

He could have been born an Edo boy, who was migrated early to Anambra or born in Anambra but migrated to Bini through, of course Delta, to Bini.

Anywhichway, slavery operations majorly took place on coastal fronts or "cities", not landlocked regions.
