Imo Businnes Community on Zuma's visit

The Imo State business community, under the aegis of the Imo Economic Development Initiative, has said the visit of South African President Jacob Zuma was a major boost to the state’s economy.

The opposition has criticised the state government for spending public resources to host the South African President.
But a member of the business community and Chairman of the Germaine Group, Chief Jerry Chukwueke, told The Nation that the benefits from the visit far outweighed the cost and whatever the state government went through.
According to him, there was a robust engagement between the business community and the South African delegation, led by its President, where mutual agreements were reached in the power and gas sector, as well as the agriculture and hospitality

Chukwueke said: “As part of the outcome of our engagements, the South African President approved the setting up of a consulate in Owerri. This means people travelling to South Africa from the Southeast can process their visas and other related business documents directly in Owerri with much ease.
“The President also approved the establishment of a payment centre in Imo State, where all business payments are made and credit card obtained. This can be used for business transactions in South Africa. You can imagine the volume of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) that will accrue to the state and the number of jobs that will be created.”
The businessman also said President Zuma agreed on a partnership between the South African Airline and Imo International Cargo Airport.

Those in the Imo State team included Chairman of Diamond Bank Plc, Pascal Dozie; Chairman of Zinox Computer, Chief Leo Stan Eke; and Chairman of Innoson Motors, Innocent Chukwumah.

Chukwueke said: “We have, as a matter of fact, set up a 10-man committee made up of five people from each side. We will be having our first meeting next month in South Africa. We are looking forward to further engaging the South African government to see how we can harness their huge expertise in agriculture, mining and the automotive industry.”

We don't want visas to a land where we get killed daily.

When are Trump and Queen Elizabeth getting their own statues so we can get UK and US visas directly in the South east.

even in Nigeria you get killed on daily basis , and on a weekly people More Nigerians are killed by their fellow Nigerians either the military , police , fulani herdsmen , boko haram , armed robbers, kidnappers , ritualist , fake medical personnel and fake drugs than the number of Nigerians killed in south Africa,

Not that i justify the south african killings but Nigerians are making a mountain out of a mole hill , neither Okorocha or Zuma killed the Nigerians so quit the blame on Okorocha , Igbo land must be opened to the outside world by fire or brimstone

1. Stop your criminal activities and you will stop being treated worse than filthy animals everywhere you go. The likes of sonyika , akin omotoso and other professionals are living in peace in SA , guess why ? Because they don't bother people , they are not hanging around criminals , they add value to the country.

2. Who forced you to flock SA? . Why are south African embassies flooded with your flat heads daily to the point that they had to resort to taking only a 100 applications only per day ? What kind of desperation is this ? grin. Please burn all the embassies of SA in that shythole country , that is when we will take you people seriously that you don't want to come to SA grin but you won't , all you lazy cowards do is run your mouths online , issuing threats . " we will burn mtn, shopbrite etc. We will stop using dstv" grin.

Slaughter land for Nigerians is Nigeria. Your police and soldiers slaughter you in full view of the public. You use each other for rituals daily . You can't organise a peaceful protest without getting slaughtered in high numbers grin. Should I continue ? I can go on and tell you how valueless your lives are in Nigeria.

I may not like Okorocha but I'll give him credit here, only if you know thousands of Igbos that travel to Lagos for South African Visa. Mr. Obiano, you have met with US ambassador over 5 times this year only, he has been to your house in numerous times that people would think he has a room there, can't you press him to lobby for a consulate in Awka?

Where are all the Igbotic morons that were chastising Okorocha for erecting the statue ? Thank God we have one reasonable Igbo man who does not expect the world to drool at his feet simply because he is a Jew from the land of the rising sun. I hope the millions of senseless Igbo youth that swallowed the brain wash of Ipob Kanu will at least understand in the world over give and take is the order of the day not the foolish senseless senile demand of the entire Igbo nation.
