It's not true. I attended primary and secondary school in Mubi attended Polytechnic in Yola and University in Jos while I served in Kano. It's very abnormal for a Christian girl to wear it. A veil is a common clothing for women both Christians and Muslims but certainly not hijab or himar.

In Taraba state, majority are Christians while Adamawa, the opposite us the same.

By the way, I doubt there's an indigenous Hausa population in Adamawa

U dont kini? I stay in abj, presently n av lived in some northern states. I av cause to relate regularly with a lot of native folks, a lot of hijab users bear xtian names n some xtians even bear muslim names too!?

Though, a lot of them dont have any concrete reason on why dey do. I'm guessing sharia n culture.

if you say northern Christian girls use "gele", I would agree with you. but not hijab. I hope you know hijab and gele are two different materials. gele is part of northern female's dressing, but hijab is female muslim dress material.
as regard names, there are Hausa names that are commonly used by both religions. e.g, musa. moses in English. and such names are found in the respected books of the two religions in questions.

Since everyone seems to be on my case, probably d ones I met were former muslims turned, xtians!?


But d fact is, I've seen several hijab wearing ladies being addressed by xtian names!?


I tried interview two, n d only thing they came up with was, thats how they've been using it! One insisted she was born a xtian(kaduna).
