We want things exactly like that of America in Nigeria. Our Governors should never again go to Abuja to collect rations. Instead they should contribute to make Abuja run Foreign Affairs, Currency, Defence, Militaey and Treaties. State Governments should control Corporate Companies in their States and charge them Rents, Rates and Taxes. Communication Companies eg MTN, GLO, BLUEFACE etc should pay charges to State Governments. Internal Security is not Defence. Police is not Military. States should control them. How can a Fulani man participate to elect Governors and State Legislatures for Ekiti, Imo, Kwara etc States? Tales of the Absurds and stupid slavery of the 21st century. States should organise SIEC to elect all electables for themselves. That is Democracy. |

shine12:The so-called "over-subscription to liberalism" gave us the Renaissance of the 14th century, a time period I still believe was one of the greatest in our entire human history. I think humanity is nearing the stage of complete enlightenment. (If we would excuse, for instance, the crop of individuals who on this thread made some asinine remarks about the "return of a dead Jew" or "the end of the world drawing nigh". The main reason why people feel guilty over certain things (drinking, casual sex, smoking, masturbäting, etc) is because of the baseless moral demands of their Religion. But, the reality is that Religion is fast losing its grip, people are becoming more and more smarter, and less and less inhibited. 50 more generations and the population of religious people worldwide should have dwindled to a meagre 30%. Now that is progress. |

omoelerin1:If you think the quest for true federalism started during Buhari's era then you must be visiting Nigeria on holidays. Where have you been? Buhari's nepotism, tribalism and ethnic supremacist mentality only helped to amplify the call and help convince those who hitherto were against the idea. |

DarkRebel69:Nice call, but any 'sauce' to back your claim? Religion has been predicted to dwindle since when? FYI, Religion has always been part of man and will continue to be until man is able to know all that there is to be known about his 'world' thereby, making him an all knowing being BUT there is little or no chance that man will survive to attain that level...so keep dreaming on |

delexy123:I wasn't quoting a research or a journal, so I have no need of posting my "sauce". I was only making an informed prognosis borne out of personal observations, which I believe are very much valid especially if you consider the quantum surge in the atheist demographic. The population of atheists burgeons by the minute, even in atheist-intolerant domains such as Africa. Many church-goers are also closet atheists, or secretly apathetic to religion. What does that tell you? To me it means that man's intelligence is on all-time evolutionary high. I fear I was even being generous when I gave religion 50 more generations before it falls into disuse. I myself will marry an atheist, or a deist at worst, and I will raise my children to be as religiousless as can be (and trust me, I'm not the only one with this mindset) . Many youths and young adults today are also only religious by word of mouth but very irreligious in their deeds, and also very likely to pass on that irreligiousness to posterity. So with people such as myself plotting to upend the universe with a revolutionary brand of parenting, and with the abundance of religiously lukewarm millenials, is it really so far-fetched a prognostication when I say that winter may just have come for Religion? Religion might have been a boon companion of man from his primitive beginnings, but as man grows wiser (and he is), then it's only as a matter of course that he begins to clearly see the incongruous fatuities that abound in old wives' tales that speak unabashedly of talking serpents, levitating prophets, and schizophrenic Jews afflicted with the "son of God complex". |

DarkRebel69:Interesting reply. I agree with your point that religion has always proven to be counterproductive to advancement, scientific and technological breakthrough. The Catholic Church in the 14th century was the powerhouse of technology in Europe and these technologies were kept in a very close-knit circle. In fact, things changed in later centuries when people became free and were more enlightened. I am pro-progressive and at the same time a Christian. (I don’t call myself a liberal Christian though, because to me that probably means a Christian that is pro-everything, but at the same time, I believe people deserve the right to do what they want). I understand that humans are beginning to break the boundaries that have held them for years. People use to believe in the infallibility of the King. The whole populace of an empire use to be nothing but serfs and subjects to Emperors/Tsars/Kings. And then people were liberated, they had the right to own properties. They were endowed with social, civic right, patent right and the right to pursue happiness. Women can do what they want with their body nowadays and not be called prostitute. Gays/Lesbian and Transgender can shout and declare their sexual orientation without been ostracized (In the Western world anyway). BUT (A BIG BUT), Where is this whole progressive movement leading to? Maybe paedophiles will come out in the next decade and say “IT IS NATURAL FOR US TO BE ATTRACTED TO KIDS”. In fact there was a similar movement in the UK in the 1980s who lobbied for the reduction of age of consent to 13/14 years. Maybe a movement will arise and say, Spouse don’t have to be faithful to their wives/husbands, in fact you can be married and still share your body with someone else. These questions and many more are the questions that I’m asking, where does it stop, if we cannot find an answer to that question, then morality might have been a myth all along. |

delexy123:He is right. Look at Saudi Arabia, they just allowed women to start drive in 2017. That’s fundamental Wahhabi religion for you. They believe before a woman can even leave the house and travel, he needs permission from her master, man. Majority of the whole world use to subscribe to one form of religious belief that constrained them to innovate in one form or another. The Catholic Church did the same to the Europeans in the middle age. Please read about Portuguese Inquisition and Spanish inquisition. The Renaissance and the industrial revolution which occurred later were a success because the concomitant of religion such as Feudalism, Divine Right of Kings and Serfdom lost its on people. As a side note, spirituality (knowing and following God by faith for one self) is very different from organised or statehood religion like we have today. A nation like Saudi is a religious theocracy that tells people how to think, behave and act. |

Raggedyann I had already called off the issue. You didn't do anything. I had already ended the discussion. The only reason I took time out to explain it to you was because it was you. At that point you mentioned him I was already done with it all. Seems like you also didn't get my point and what I was arguing with him about. |

DarkRebel69:Winter is coming for religion? Since when have we been echoing this same rhetoric? Again you are basing what you've just written up there on your opinion coined 'personal observation' and you are passing it off as fact. Mind you the religion I am talking goes beyond what you've written. Religion stems from BELIEF and this belief will continue be with man until he is able to answer ALL questions about himself and the universe at large BUT he is yet to know all these and there is a little or no chance that he will be able to do that. Have you ever stop to ask yourself why debate about God existence seems to have No end? Will it ever end?...On a side note, I have also observed most people who claim they are atheists are agnostics at best. When you probe them, you will found out who they really are. Yes, there are 'core atheist' but they are quite few. Most young people love to feel among so they follow enmasse any new craze in town just to be seen as being 'enlightened' and claiming atheism is one of them. |
