That was why I said he is schooled not educated. Schooling is mere regurgitation, that is, to get a job and display all the knowledge he was taught. Education is to be a thinker, creative and ingenuine. To be educated is to understand the society one resides and look for a way to monetize something. Being educated/schooled has nothing to do with laziness. I didn't say he was lazy.

I can tell you a story about a guy from Akwa-Ibom, he started as a conductor while sleeping in the bus at night, in less than six months, he was given a bus for hire, and in two years, he paid off, owning the bus. In less than a year after that, he bought a new bus and gave out for hire purchase, and the rest is history. It been 7 years now and this guy has at least 7 buses running the street of Enugu. To me, that is a display of an educated person. Started from nothing but with hard work, lives comfortably, without begging anyone for a job.

I am not saying everybody should be a bus driver/conductor but there is always something you can do. Starting from learning vocational skills and climb your way up. That's my point.

Thank you boss. God bless as you have shed more light as to your point. I clearly understand.

But bros, there are still some Nigerians who think getting a certificate job is a waste of time. Yes, it might be difficult but not everyone is cut out for businesses.

Have a great day sir.

I am one of those people who think like that, but not in absolute measure. If you want to be a doctor, then please, go get a degree. I do not patronize babalawos and street vendors. But if you want to be a businessman or making money on the street, then being a literate and an autodidact is enough. For the thousands of years humans have existed, journeymanship/employee has never been the norm. It is more of being a skilled person, and being paid to deliver such services. It is more of apprenticeship and being your own boss later on.

The concept of journeymanship is new, and I honestly wonder how people are satisfied with having a fixed salary, lose control of your time, waking up at biologically incompatible hours and be expected to be thankful for it. How many billionaires have you seen that are employees? Can your children inherit your job?

He should be given a job just because he is a Masters degree holder?

What relevant skill or experience does he have that distinguishes him from every other Masters degree holder. It's not enough to have the degree, but be knowledgeable and grounded in your field.

Is he looking for an entry level job at his age?
Or there is more to it?

I also hunt pocos.

Winks wink

I believe this is a Nigerian concept whereby you have one source of income and hustle on extra sources of incomes.. For one, I am a believer of this concept. I believe the average Nigerian is comfortable with earning one source of income mostly by being a government employee and having other businesses to supplement whatever he makes as salary.

Can your children inherit your job?.. I belong to the school of thought whereby I would encourage my kids to develop a passion for something at an early stage of their lives and I would nuture that passion for them.

God bless your hustle bro. People think everything in Nigeria is by certificate. I have Masters, I have PHD. Paper certificate in Nigeria is as worthless as used sanitary pad or used diaper. The earlier our youths develop relevant skills, the better

is it not money one will use to develop relevant skill? or will u teach somebody a skill for free? does skill fall from heaven? I wanted to learn graphic design and interior decor the dude told me to pay 100k.. for some folks who have no income whatsoever where do u expect them to get such amount when to feed na problem.. not to talk of setting up a place.
its not as easy as taking a piss..if one has a job he can use the income he gets to finance whatever business he deems fit

We should ask him, what he can do differently with his Master degree. Flaunting your master degree is not sufficient in this era. Creativity and innovation is the main thing.

Exactly my thoughts. If a master degree holder can’t find a way to survive in the rugged streets of Nigeria, then truly, he is just a schooled person, not an educated person.

Re: Masters Degree Holder Hunts For Job On The Street (Photo) by Nobody: 3:41pm On Oct 26, 2017
Oga You suppose don wise up by now.

Its very simple to get a job.
Remove your Msc from your CV, and use your B.Sc with one professional course to get an 80k job or even 120K even.

After which you update your profile with your coy, especially when you see they want to promote or assigning people for training.

I have been to a coy that chased me away saying they cant afford 120k for BSC, they didnt wait or ask me to negotiate or smth, they wanted HND they can pay 90k or 100k.

i earn 147k with bsc and i change job every one year. tho its not good but i have what am aiming for.
