I waited for Friday to make this post, but I don't want it posted as an Islamic thread.
I am posting on behalf of a friend.
A customer walked up to me, in one of the old generation banks, to inquire if it was possible for him to stop the interests coming into his savings account with my bank.


I asked him why, and he said it was a sin for such funds to come into his account.

It sounded so strange to me.......i have never heard this anywhere.

Even the GMD of my bank is a Muslim.



So I ask you Muslims here.... Is it HARAM?

Yes, it's Haram to collect interest on the money saved. Because, the money saved in the bank is the same as the money lend out to someone. You lend the bank your money and they give you the interest your money earned after they used your money for business. It's not the same as Mushaarakah(partnership) whereby two or more people partner to do a business.

Some of the scholars said we can collect it and give it out as charity with the intention of not gaining the reward of spending it.

But it's best to leave it in the bank and not collect it, coz it's the Bank's money not yours. And the most important is that the verse indicates that Any interest should be abandoned.

Allah says: O you have believed fear Allah and give up what remains of interest (due to you), if you should be believers. Quran 2 verse 278.

Note : Brother, it's best for you to leave that bank job ASAP, lest prepare for war from Allah. May Allah grant us Halal earnings and job.

Muslims do not take life here as something to brag about but they will definately take their life in the hereafter to brag so just drop the case of riches or no riches
