Shikena: Don't mind the guy jare, he's got a lot to learn about life and how to make real comparisons. The few months I worked outside the country in a legit way and had opportunities to interact with professionals, my orientation changed, what I earned after tax no be here. There is nothing that can be compared to living and earning legally as professionals abroad to Living in Nigeria. Nigeria is wacked. That's why you still see Dino melaye with all his stolen cash will still be proud to upload pics of him in a metro station on the internet. It means there is no life in naija. 5 Likes |

thebosstrevor:You don't have to see my investments - I see my own investments, my banks in Nigeria can see them, those working for me can see them, my family and friends can see them. That is my own little contribution and I know about numerous others doing even more and those that are just starting. I do not think everybody in Nigeria is suffering because I go home frequently and I have eyes but I know that we can do way better as I see brilliant young people wasting away. America has issues and all is not well and there are poor people but that doesn't change the fact about rewards for excellence in America - and Nigerian immigrants are taking advantage of this daily alongside other immigrants. A man with a known and verified Kenyan father just ruled America for 8 years. Again, it is important that we know where we should be and stop accepting mediocrity on the grounds that 'there are poor people in New York'. 5 Likes 1 Share |

timesup234:I want to take ur side on this issue. But it appears u are not doing justice to ur case. The real basis for comparisons shud be purchasing power of income and then the standard of living if the individual in the society. Someone who earns $50000/pa and lives frugally in US will be able to build a storey building modestly in nigeria within 3 years. This is a fact. My brother works in a hospital in UK as a radiographer and earns about £45000/pa. He makes reasonable investment in naija annually 1 Like |

supersystemsnig:But what percentage of ICT guys are making salary of $10,000 monthly in Nigeria as a starter . Bro this is not an argument of superiority , it’s just like an enlightenment and discussion. We can’t compare naija with USA in all ramifications. Yes most Americans live on loan but that is due to their system, they prefer you buy things on mortgage than paying full cash . If you want to buy a house here , you won’t pay cash in full it will be mortgaged and you’ll pay per month and it’s usually a low amount at which you can pay your full amount for the period of 25years or more. That’s the same for cars also and a lot of other things. So because people always say they live on loan doesn’t mean they don’t have money , it’s just that they need to pay some loan back and that even help them build up their credit history. If you’re here you’ll understand . What I’m just saying is that don’t compare the percentage of people working here legally in a good firm with people working in naija , even after the high standard of living here , professionals here will still be able to rake in far far more money than their counterpart in Nigeria . Thanks 2 Likes |

thebosstrevor:So i ask...what do you do differently/better in nigeria to have fat bank accounts? answer=corrupt system. in this life, one is entitled to a decent living, (which is the case where i live)...to have so much money, you have got to be smarter and futuristic than many...#inventive I dont even know what it is that Nigerians in Nigeria have contributed to world advancement that make them richer than people in the west....if not because of a broken system |

Going through the entire thread just got me laughing. 1. It is totally wrong to be comparing menial job worker with a Bank Manager in Nigeria. Though some Nigerians in diaspora do the comparison and it is rude. 2 converting your earnings to dollars or naira is equally an aberration because you are not picking your bills in those currencies. 3. I work for an organisation with a pay that is above 7 figures per month after deduction of Tax, HMO Health Insurance for my entire family, NHIF, Pension contribution (compulsory and voluntary) and ease of getting visa to any country. The Health Insurance gives me and the family access to any hospital in the world. I have a comfortable abode of mine. It is not a mansion but it is comfortable and I am happy inside. I am blessed with 2 or 3properties, with at least a quality vacation outside the country guaranteed every 2years. I have access to at least 20hrs of light per day with Generating Set offsetting the remaining 4hrs. In all I spend 10k on PHCN prepaid card and 15k on Gen per month. To a large extent, my cost of living is reduced and I can save more. Access to internet is 3 for 10kobo in Naija now, that is not a luxury. Can I give that a way to relocate for now? No. Will I love to relocate in the nearest future. Maybe Yes. The reason is for the integration of the kids into the society and not for economic reasons. Wherever you find yourself, just ensure it is working for you and do not look down on the people on the other side of the world -- whether at home or in diaspora. My friends outside the country are professionals and they are very successful and I do spend my vacation with some of them. Whenever they come to Naija, my home is usually their first point of call because I am comfortable and contented with the little God has blessed me with in Naija and they know I can never ask them for 1dollar. In summary, it is neither here nor there. There are more opportunities in Naija bei.g a developing economy, but you need the right connection to harness most. American system is not based on connection to a large extent in comparison with Naija. When you consider school fees, state of roads, cost of quality healthcare and security, life expectancy an quality of life will definitely be better in America. When you consider ease of making money, social livability (functions - parties wedding etc), fun and chances to more opportunities, Nigeria tops it. God bless our hustles. 19 Likes 4 Shares |

supersystemsnig: There is a difference between A BRANCH MANAGER and a MANAGER. A branch manager is most times a portfolio, a manager is a LEVEL in the career path. They are very different. You can't just know a few FULL MANAGERS personally and their pays. It takes years to be a FULL MANAGER and you don't see them around anyhow. They're are the ones that rake in the bulk of profit sharing (we talking millions here) and so many other benefits, including official cars. If you are not in the system, you won't know. Do you know how many levels you cross to be a full manager (ET, ABO, BO, SBO, AM, DM, M _some banks even have other levels in between) and you think they'll just open their mouth and let you know their pays? 2 Likes |

Iblad0994: When Linda Ikeji didn't start with $10k monthly when she started.... But $2,000 Monthly is okay and then can be grown to $10k monthly, yes standard of living in USA is way way better....But, the ICT guys rock... Even Doctors are dwarfed by the figures they command... I've seen/experienced guys with $25k monthly, it's about getting the knowledge |

supersystemsnig: Indeed. supersystemsnig: There is nothing like Masters/PhD bank manager _don't spread falsehood, a manager is a manager. Majority of them don't have additional qualifications (save for certifications). Bankers are paid by their level, not qualifications. You don't know about the system, you shouldn't be the one educating people. Only few banks pay their full managers that much, and if you know entry level salary structure, you'll know them. It isn't a case of averages _it's about the financial strength of the bank. 3 Likes |

timesup234: Died of what ? Before you bring your faulty stats here , consider the population in relation to Naija's own , consider where better quality health care is given. If you're still in doubt take it up with Doctor Ogunleye , Head CTSU LUTH Idi-araba Lagos. Only a blind man or someone who is so obsessed in being right would argue that common preventable diseases kill people here in Naija , in this case I think you're both 5 Likes |
