Our rent is 715$ per month. We pay $68 for internet (actually $58 but we rent the Wifi box for $10 from xfinity), 40$ for gas presently( might go up during the winter) and around $30 for electricity (budget billing). Total is $853. We pay around 40$ for groceries every week.

Mind you, my Fiance makes enough for the both of us that i don't even need to work. However, I am not that kind of a bum. i like to work. We share our bills. She has a loan she is paying off. That is the major thing taking money from her.

You don't have a car and if you do then how much do you spend on fueling and repairs, don't you pay tax, what of mortgage? You don't buy clothes or eat out, what of furnitures and other minor needs, what of transportation when you are no using your car, phone bills nko, what of travel once in a while, unexpected bills nko, what of medical insurance?

what the fuc.k are u saying? How many Nigerians are living well in Nigeria? On the contrary, when you travel out to Europe, Australia or north American countries, you actually come back and see that you are far better than those you left behind for the many years you have left for.

Hi,I have read your post and I accept there is some atom of truth to it but I would actually say that depends on age difference and some other factors ,for example you can't ever see a 30 year old bank manager in Nigeria ,they are all about 40 or more but in the US you can see registered nurse at 23 or even a well known lawyer or banker or any other profession you choose and be making abt 75 to 90k USD a year that's excluding someother side hustles cos believe me no Nigerian in united states depends just on the job ,now at the age of 23 making that kind of cash and SOMEONE at his mid 40s or 50s who do you believe is in a better position to be wealthier in the future cos believe me Nigerians over here are always improving themselves so an RN by 23 will most definetly be a nurse practitioner or get his or her PhD by 30 and be making hundreds of thousands of dollars in year and most of them by this time already have there own nursing home or are partners in a nursing home and there are a whole lot of other opportunities to be taken advantage of ,and there is employment longetivity ,in naija there is no such job security so a bank manager might lose his job any day but an rn here is guaranteed jobs as long as his license is active and mind you that amount you quoted is based on normal hours and on one job but believe me Nigerians here work overtime and work at least 2 jobs for those with families buy single ones work up to 3 jobs so thats about double that amount,so you see the difference here.

Because the profit can cover the expense...What of the trader that makes just 120k profit monthly and has an office at Ikeja? They will spend 200k on tfare monthly and run into 80kloss monthly..does it make sense

I pay 24$ for gas that last me 4 days, so in a week, i pay around 40dollars for gas. My fiances car uses around 60$ per week (my car has better MPG then her car). Together, we make around 1700-2000$ per week. She pays more taxes than me.

We don't have mortgage yet. we renting an apartment

We buy clothes but we don't buy clothes every day or every month, Do you buy clothes every month?

We don't eat out, we already buy groceries. and even if we do, it is once in a while ( we spend less than 70$ most times)
We don't have any other means of transport, she uses her car, i use mine, sometimes, we switch cars.
She pays 45$ for her prepaid AT&T, I pay 30$ for my Tmobile per month
We have never see unexpected bills, it has never happened. She has insurance from her work that cost 7$ per week right now (taken from her paycheck). She is gonna add me to her insurance in few days once we make it official, the insiurance will rise to $30. She pays 100$ for her car insurance (it was increased from $70 when she got into an accident last year and the insurance company had to fix her car for her). I don't pay any for mine (in the state i live it is not required to have insurance if you own your car outright)

I do car maintenance once a while, it cost 34 dollars. Nothing happened to my car since i have been driving it. That's why i bought a good car grin

Again.hahahaha. Ultimate goal you said? Diagnostically speaking, what do you think the future holds for an average Nigerian youth living in Nigeria? ....

i may not have perticipated in building the systen but i am sure helping in maintaining it. Nigeria doesnt even want to build a system grin

Yes, Nigeria doesnt produce anything. Even the oil is being extracted by foreign companies. as we talk check all the gadgets in your home, clothes you are wearing...I am sure you are seeing China, India, Singapore, USA, Germany, Vietnam, Bangladish etc

Credit facility is there as a back up...which by the way is not available in Nigeria. anyone that depends solely on cretdit is doing so at his/her discretion., has nothing to do with me cry

stop telling us lies, you are not maintaining the system,do you think you pay as much tax as the rich in america.america rich and coperate america are the one maintaining the system,so that they can make you a consumer, america deal on consumerism.

the iphone, the laptop, the shirt and the headphone(beat by dr dre) and the american cars are all made in china, that is why trump is compalining
american product cant compete with chinese product that is why they move manufacturing to china and india.america have the brand but the factories are located outide america.

credit facilities isnt there as a back up,it is part of the system for survival in america

let me not talk about oil, extraction of oil needs partnership globally, just the way it happens in the oil industry in nigeria, italso happens like that in america,i hope you remember BP case in maerica

A pained broke ass immigrant. Young man the days of lies and illusion are over. Going to America has set your life backward 20 yrs. It is a hole you will never come out from. I opened a thread hoping to see people counter me with facts but not a single one to prove that even 16% of the US. population has $10,000 saved up. I educated you guys how it will take over 20 yrs just for you to make a down payment for a moderate $200,000 home but you choose to ignore and turn it into a personal matter. When it comes to personal exchange, trust me, you are a kid. You will get served.Stop with all the lies, don't you see how we were even brainwashed about college in the US.? Even people doing menial jobs have more money than those with college degrees. If you are not ready to dispute and engage all the facts I am presenting then fvck off! S

Lol,about savings and all my dear you should make enough research before concluding,ok let me just break it down for you,GENRALLY both in naija and America if you want good money and spend it all on living an exotic lifestyle you won't be able to save anything or invest so the key is saving and living below your means so as to be able to invest and have a better life in the future ,now about getting a good apartment here in the US a person earning 1500 can get get a nice apartment to live and still save a little ..

OP , I totally understand that there's no place like home. But the way you make your point doesn't worth it, yes most of these guys in America do menial jobs yet they have built duplexes and has many Landed properties in Nigeria, this is called investment wise. Oh, you think they spend all their money in the states? Again I never saw where you mentioned social amenities like constant power supply, good road, health facilities, water etc. At least they pay tax and enjoy what the money is being used for. Please don't be biased in your judgement. Thanks

Dont waste your time with these set of people, probably they wasted their opportunity when they travelled out n they feel every other person does the same.

Well I have seen bank executives and managers alike relocate to the USA.

The issue really isn't about how much you earn. But how comfortable you are.

The less risk of losing the little you have to bribe FRSC, police, lastma.........

Or being robbed off your belongings in traffic

The risk of being beaten by soldiers in traffic

The several juju using scammers

Being arrested falsely by police

YOur car getting bashed by a danfo, the conductor is ready to fight you if you complain

Civil servants threat you like rubbish when you wanna go get documents.

The list is endless jare....

The issue really isn't about how much you earn. But how comfortable you are u said it all my brother
