I'm a Oct 2016 mom. My birth story My EDD according to my LMP was 19/10. My pregnancy was very smooth, didn't have any pregnancy issues nor cravings but few days of vomiting at the early stage. When I was at 38 weeks, the dam was opened and it made the access road to my house flooded. The water was so much that it's was reaching my stomach. I couldn't make it for ANC that week. DH & I packed our bags and managed to get out of my area. I went to stay in my aunt's place. I noticed that everytime I eat, I will poo. It went on like that till I gave birth. I was doing my walking and climbing stairs faithfully every morning no matter how tired I felt. I went for ANC at 39+4days. The doctor that attended to me said I should come for induction on my EDD because I'm rhesus negative that she doesn't want to put the baby life at risk if I didn't fall into labour before then and I should get rhogam injection when coming for admission. I left the doctor office, tears rolled in my eyes. I wanted to fall into labour naturally not to be induced. My mind was like what if the induction fails. Will I go for CS? And uptill that day, i haven't felt any contractions. On the 19/10. I prayed and proceeded to the hospital. I was admitted for cervix ripening. I was positive that all will go well. Dh came to see after close of work. They didn't let him wait long as visiting time was over. In the ward i was admitted, the other patients there were in pains, some just went thru surgery, others had one or two severe issues with their pregnancies. It's wasn't a fun place to be as everyone there was looking depressed and sad. At 8pm the nurse asked me to go the Labour ward to see the doctor. The catheter was fixed in my cervix. It's was my very time of experiencing VE. It was quite painful because of all the instruments he was using to navigate to the cervix. He said it will drop before morning. He did it for two of us that night. I went to my bed thinking I should get some sleep. For where? This backache started o, I was like what could this be? All thru my pregnancy, I was expecting contraction to be like menstrual paiñ. I ran to the toilet (very dirty),i was able to poo small. This backache became intenseď,I was still bearing it on my bed thinking it's will soon stop. When it's became more intense, i went to the nurse asking her for pain reliver that I'm having terrible backache. She said that was contractions. That i should be breathing in & out. I was bearing the pain, breathing in and out. I started listening to the recorded messages from pastors I had on my phone. I was confessing the prayers in supernatural birth to myself. I left the ward, I saw one of the doctors office wasn't locked and the AC was on. It's was a better place than the ward. I hid behind the curtains so as not to be seen to avoid been driven away. I kept on praying every time the pain came. It's went on till 3:45am. I felt a little better. Came to the ward. I find out that my patner own has dropped. At that point, I told myself that if this thing didn't fall before morning, I will tell the doctor that I'm going home and will wait till labour starts naturally. By 6am, I was told to bath and move to labour room. On getting to the Labour ward, the doctor was already attending to my patner. She was screaming on top of her voice. I was like this thing is very painful o. I can't go thru this pain after all I was through over the night. The doctors was unable to do membrane sweep for her but fixed oxytocin for her. It's was now my turn, I told him to remove the catheter that I have made up my mind to take whatever risk if the cervix isn't effacing that I'm going home. He said alright. He checked me and saw that the catheter has even dropped. He went ahead to break the water and fix oxytocin for me. I was told not to get up and should remain lying on my left side. He told the nurses that I was 5-6cm dilated. I was very happy. Thought the baby should be here before 10am. The contractions (backache) started again. I was breathing in and out. I was doing my best not to scream. At 10am i was checked, its was 7cm. I was like, with all this pain it's 7cm. At this time the pain was like someone using sledge hammer hitting my back without mercy continously. I started timing the contraction it's lasted for 1 min at 3mins intervals. I 'll rest a little after each contraction. At 12noon I was checked it's was still 7cm. I was like why God, pls don't forsake me now. Was confessing Isaiah 66:7-9. The pain was unbearable. I couldnt even time it anymore. Meanwhile, I didn't even hear the voice of my patner. I called her, She said she was also bearing the pain. The nurse checked her, She was 4cm dilated but her cervix is still high still unable to do membrane sweep By 2pm my aunty came and she saw how much pain I was in, she bursted in tears, the nurses chased her away. She called her pastors to be praying for me. At this point, I was screaming " Jesus, have mercy on me". I was checked again its was still 7cm and the cervix was soft. Meanwhile the nurses on duty were nice. Was asking them to help me rub my back and once in a while they did. I felt real pain. Menh, labour pain no be here o. I couldn't stand up from the bed. I had to remain in one position all through the pains. I was like how did our grannies did it that they have 6-8 children. I was almost running mad with the pain. At 4pm, I was already begging for either epidural or CS. I couldn't just endure the pain anymore. In a short while, I felt like pooing, the nurses was already ending their shift. They were busy documenting. I told them that i wanted to poo. She said that I shouldn't push to avoid cervical tear that it isn't time yet. I said ok. Already made up my mind to follow thier instructions. I was trying to hold it but it's was hard. I started peeing on myself. They kept on shouting on me not to push yet. By 4:30pm, New shift resumed, I begged the nurse to check me. That i felt like poòing o. She checked and exclaimed that the baby is already here. I was moved to delivery room. It's was just one of the nurses on duty that has resumed. Thank God the other nurse in the morning was still packing to go home. Come and see rushing as they weren't prepared. The new nurse ask me to push at the next contraction, I pushed once, the baby didn't come. She used my hand to touch the baby head that I should push more. She gave me an episotomy. I gathered all the strength in me and gave it second push, my Prince was out. They put him on me. On seeing him, its was worth everything I went through. The placenta was removed too and I was sown back though its was numbed but i still feel the pain. A drug was placed in my anus to reduce the bleeding. And my patners didn't dilated more than 4cm. She was later taken to theatre for CS after I left the Labour I thank God for this priceless gift. He made it very easy for me. I pray for everyone pregnant woman that they will experience supernatural delivery. And all ttc & atc that they will get their BFP soonest. CC: Feddy27. October 2016. 52 Likes 2 Shares |
