HOLD FG RESPONSIBLE SHOULD ASUU STRIKE-EX FUTASU PRESIDENT

The immediate past president of the Federal University of Technology, Akure Students' Union (FUTASU) Comrade. Olusegun Oladele SOLAR who recently declared his willingness to contest a seat in the 2019 Osun Assembly, has asked Nigerian students - the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), civil organizations, labour unions, parents and every stakeholder to hold the Federal Government culpable should the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) embark on another industrial action.

He made this known in statement made available to newsmen in Ilesha, Osun State. He said, the Federal Government's nonchalant attitude to education is worrisome thus questionable. He also said that a genuine progressive government with well-thought policy will not breach an agreement entered with various trade unions.

He further stated that "government's ineptitude to ASUU agreement is deliberate and a mockery of the poor masses who can't afford to send their wards abroad to study". He lamented the unfair treatment being melted out to Academic staff and other unions in the country.

While urging ASUU to use all available means within the ambit of the law to pursue their demands, he admonished that universities presently undergoing their examinations should be given the grace to conclude their exams.
