There are millions o pple in d world so few photocopies can't stop her bussiness from growing so stop thinking like dat not healthy.

That is not the mind set to have,
it is like a story i was once told.

A man was having a party, and asked all the invitees to bring a bottle of wine, when they come in they should empty the wine into a big drum, from which all would take from when the party begins.

So one man thought: I wont waste my money and bring wine, since we are going to pour it into a drum, i will bring water instead, one bottle of water in a big drum of wine will not be noticed.

So on the day he filled his empty wine bottle with water, sealed it up and went for the party. the stewards showed him to where the drum was, and then he poured his water into the drum.

when it was time to eat and drink the stewards brought the feast and the drum for everyone to drink........

poured the drink in the glasses and served the guest..... low and behold it was Just Water, every one started carrying face, and the host told them, well it is what you put in, you got out.

Every single one of the guest thought exactly like the man. "I will bring water and just one bottle will not dilute a whole drum of wine to be noticeable".

If you think like that, do not kid your self you are the only one! that few photocopies could be like a few million!

There are millions of people in nigeria yes, not alot of people can afford the 8K that the book is costed at. of that millions of people, there only a few million that will be able to buy the book and only maybe a few thousand that will actually buy it. Please let her reap the fruits of her labours biko!

Baby food is not rocket science, so If you are not innovative enough to make heallthy meals for your kid, do not spoil another person's business. bear in mind that she has cost associated with the book to pay, abi you think the pictures in the book were taken for free, or the publishers printed it for free. Do unto others what you want done unto you. if it was your business, will you not be using Sango to swear for people doing photocopy.

There are also millions of free recipes online that you can use , even here on NL, there are also hundreds of recipes people have shared at various times, there is even a thread for baby food recipes, all done by nigerians so you cant even say oh the recipe is onyibo oh and called for shallots, swede and butternut squash, that is why you cannot make it.

Ok. That masking tape thingy is a good idea. Thank you.

hunniesuzie:
spiceeamiee

Just to add. I use a different dispenser for formula and another for cereal to avoid mixup. I also use masking tape to label because I have OCD am extra like that. I don't use Gerber cereals but I think you need to add milk. Feed her at home first and see what she eats. I started with 2 tablespoons of cereal. Mix the cereal with however much milk you want to add inside each portion in the dispenser so the nanny can just put water. Fruit & veg purees I started at 5 months with apple and carrot (not together oh). I ensure the puree is his first meal at the creche so they can give it fresh but I suggest you hold off on this till you are more confident in the nanny/carer

She is 4months. I'm looking at all the things to put in her bag and I'm wondering if it's too much but now you have said this, I guess it's better to be on the safe side. Thank you.

Giddyperson:

Please modify the post and include how old your baby is, incase other mamas want to put mouth. I think two feeds of formula and two of cereal is ok but pack and extra feed too just incase. My baby started this week too, we have been having two bags so far, one big and one small, cuz I'm literally packing everything, as time goes on I'd gradually cut down on the things I notice she doesn't use. No matter how many questions you ask you're still gonna do the same, better to pack too much than too little. For her first week, I think you should only pack foods she's happy taking. I've only been packing August secrets and mashed foods for my baby cuz she'd gladly open her mouth for adult food or anything that tastes like it but would fight you if you try to give her formula or anything mixed with formula. So right now I just pack two little flasks containing her food, I make the food in the morning before I leave the house and the flasks keep them warm all through the day. I breastfeed all through for the rest of the day and night.

I want to start giving her the cereals from today that's why I was asking about prep method. I have attached a pix of the storage cups I got. This one has 3 containers but I saw the one that has 5 containers yesterday so I'm going to buy that one today.

On the food ish, ordinarily my Lo finishes 150mls or 180mls when she is very hungry but this is when she is really hungry. Other times,it ranges from 60-120mls depending on her mood. I have already gauged and I know what mls she will finish at what point in time and I also supplement with breast milk. Now I don't know how to explain to the creche that she may not finish 150mls at a go cos if they keep making 150mls and she does not finish It, food is wasting ni yen.

Secondly, the woman at the creche says they spoonfeed them formular so that they can control the feeding, that if they use bottle, the child controls the feedingand may decide not to eat. My mom can around yesterday and tried to spoonfeed LO her formular. You know those style of putting the milk in the baby's mouth once she opens it to cry, ehn ehn, That style. I was not comfortable with it so I asked her to stop (my mom bring who she is did not even listen to me). Please is that really how babies are fed? Seems like an infringement of their rights grin grin..but really really, should I be worried about feeding her with spoon? She will be 4months the day she starts creche.

enque:

I don't use gerber rice, I use greber oats... I have a mental calculation of how much my lo takes i.e. 4-5 tables spoons. I measure out and add 200mls of milk, and that's it. SO, if there's no instructions, u may hv to use ur discretion.
I've done some posts on my creche modus operandi, will look bk n tag u...I gat 0 strength to start retyping now.

How old is ur LO? I started fruit purees at 6 months, some people start at 4mts tho

u may need to upload a pix of the bowls u got, so we know wat we r advicing based on.

Hve u tried giving her any of these cereals/foods at home? I always try out new meals at home first b4 packing for creche, so i can see her reaction and that helps me know what she likes/doesnt like and guage what quantity she can finish, to avoid waste

I bought to administer by myself but I later regretted it because I was later told that one I bought is one full dose.. So I gave all to my dd.. We have bougt another on for 11 weeks and given her so i advice you go to a hospital and take it... If u need a hospital where you can take it just let me know and I will direct u[/quote

Actually my hospital gives it, when I took it 2yrs ago it was 7.5k & the 2 doses was 15k but now I'm told it's 9k per dose. Honestly, I've already done the calculation & I wouldn't mind to administer it myself considering that I'm getting for 2 kids at once except you can direct me to hospital that's not pricey as such.....I'm trying to cut cost by all means

Thank you mama Don Jazzy

Yes one plate and spoon for each feed
If you baby will eat 7 times before pick up, put 7 plates and spoons.

I forgot to add earlier, I also put a cardigan, cap and flannel. Because the creche has AC I instruct them to wear him the cardigan and cap. I cannot come and be dealing with cold biko. Lol
The flannel is for them to lay on their own sheets before they put him to sleep

I also put an extra pair of socks too

It might also be mouth ulcers, try getting bonjela for baby/ kids for him, it may relieve the pain and reduce the inflamation and possibly allow him eat.

Also i think you need him to gaggle with the salt water oh not just using cotton bud. just ask him to put in this mouth, hold for a bit and spit it out. you may have to show him first and make game out of it, although just know that for the next one week, everything he puts in his mouth will end up coming out as he go turn am to play!!!

Thanks mama for the input ma. They ran a test and typhoid came positive and malaria mild.

Im grateful ma.

Please nobody should control your child's feeding. It sounds like force feeding to me. My rule to all the nannies was "if he doesn't eat, leave him, when he's hungry he will eat"(My baby likes food sha so it may not work for everybody). Also spoon feeding formula is more contact with LOs food and more chance of infection. They shouldn't worry, let them bottle feed like normal people biko. Tell them you don't want to give them extra stress, that she will eat (so they don't feel your own is much). You can tell them to make 120mls, or whatever she eats most of the time. My baby sometimes eats 210 mls but mostly 180 so I maintain 180 at creche. Try to refrain from multiple instructions, it leads to confusion. Anything that is not simple, keep for the house

Actually it's a deficiency of Vit C. It has been happening to me as far as I can remember till now mind you I'm almost an adult. The cure is Vit C. If you can get vit C supplement suitable for his age he will be fine. It's very painful I know that. I don't always talk anytime it happens to me Self. It's that Painful. Citrus fruits like orange, lemon etc is the prefect cure but it's not suitable for a baby as its contains acid. So Vit C supplements it is.

I hope I helped sha

Thanks ma. But no day passes by that i dont either give him vit c syrup or he MUST take fruit(s) rich in vit c.

Thanks

Good evening ma'am. From ur description, it seems those patches are aphthous ulcers. They are nothing serious but are very painful and may be due to an underlying stress factor, infection or nutritional deficiency. U can get topical hydrocortisone for him and apply on d sores to relieve d pain. But dey usually resolve on their own. U can also suggest to ur doctor to carry out malaria test to rule out malaria.

Thanks ma. They ran a test and typhoid came out positive(160)and malaria is mild. Hes on treatment now.

My current predicament. What I did: make 60mls and feed frequently say 1.5hoyrs interval. It's stressful AF but wetin man go do? Can you feed her with spoon? If you can, that's another good way to get food into her. She may not enjoy it as she will be crying but at leash, She is getting the required nourishment. I tried vitamins and appetite boosters but nothing worked. Heard they will outgrow it. Also, keep giving Breast milk as you normally would.

honeystar:
Mothers in the house, I need your advice. I have a baby girl that will soon be 3 months, she is both formula and breastfeed but she suddenly stopped taking formula I.e SMA. I have tried NAN, Frisolac, cow and gate but she still refuses all. Once she sucks the bottle and tastes the formula she starts crying, she only wants breast milk which is not sufficient cos she is not even putting on much weight. I will soon resume work and I don't have high supply of milk to express and keep moreover I work in a bank. Has anyone been in this situation? What did you do?

Dont know if it's a post partum package or a post partum depression package. Happened to me. I missed out on most of my omugwuo orisirisi. All I could drink was huge bowls of hot pap cuz I was finding breastmilk with torchlight. It would pass after a while. Later I started to eat like a thief, I'd even wake up at midnight and eat the remnants of whatever hubby had for dinner not minding if its cold or open, and he'd be staring at me in wonder. Just eat what you can now, if it's pap or juice or fruits, eat it all day until your appetite starts to come back.

the only thing my baby takes in a feeding bottle is formular, every other liquid is done via cup....she is waay older than urs anyways. I don't like spoonfeeding formular because I am not that patient, but if the creche says that's how they want to feed her, u should discuss ur reservation about spoonfeeding with them and they can make an exception for ur baby.

since she does 60-120ml on the average, they can make say 90-100mls and watch how she takes it. but then again, babies have moods and that determins what quantity of food they will take. example, my babby will eat more when she wakes from sleep than when she has been active, its like sleep triggers her hunger.

u can buy the 5 containers, u'll need it more for when she starts proper cereals.

most cereals have the same prep method - pour out cereal, add milk and then water. I guess gerber should be same.
