I am sure most of the Nairalanders in this thread that made the medicine and surgery UI cut-off marks will be at least 18 years. Because most of you have tried twice or thrice. Well, congratulations to you all.

What is the difference between anatomy and medicine and surgery. Because pple that chose EKSU this year for medicine and surgery were asked to choose either anatomy or physiology. I am not even sure if EKSU is really that competent in these courses. And even if sumone is admitted to study anatomy in EKSU instead of Medicine. Is that person advisable to go. Please I need urgent a km d precise answers to my questions above!.

Anatomy and physiology are both courses medicine and vet students do. It's just a branch of those courses

The admitted person should be able to decide if he/she has interest in the course na

My preparations for the next Utme has started already. And I would like to know how UI post Utme exercise usually looks like

It is a good thing you are starting your preparations now.

I see a lot of intelligent lads here claiming UI marked them down or they performed more than the scores they saw on their dashboard.

The truth is being an intelligent student is not enough for UI putme, you must also be very smart!
The exam will not pose any difficulties once you can activate the smartness in You.

By being smart, I mean you must be very swift and accurate. The exam requires you to be very time conscious. If you are a science/tech aspirant, you must learn to solve without the usage of a calculating device. Learn how to quickly solve decimals in few seconds using standard form. Learn how to find square root of non-perfect square numbers without using a calculator. You must learn a lot of things. Just learn!

There are 100 questions in total. 25 questions from each of your UTME subjects combination. Duration is 90 minutes(about 54 seconds per question), that's fair enough.

What are the subjects you will be writing in UTME so I can forward the practice questions to your mail?

Remember, you don't have to be overly intelligent but very smart. UI putme is not an igneous rock

So please.. In changing from one course to another let's say physiology to mbbs... How do you c thIs I mean the odds... Am talking about after first year

Nltaliban has said it all.
However, I believe there should be at least a faint chance.. Besides, it's better one starts with something, if at all there's no chance to cross, just pick another jamb for another school. Being in d system would have given you an edge and avenues for better preparation

Changing is somehow difficult.

In college of medicine, many students have perfect cgpa I.e 7.00 / 4.00 (I mean 100%)
Now tell me how physiology student with 5.91/3.24 cgpa will be able to change. Besides, if you try very hard to make a perfect cgpa self, your hod might not want to release you for the fear of loosing one of his best student.

And again, corruption is rampant in Nigeria. Sometimes, when there are spaces to change to in mbbs, those people who want their candidates to fill those slots will just say theres no space.

Well said.

Anatomy and physiology, as well as biochemistry are basic medical science courses. They are the courses that medical students study between 200-300Levels.
They also exist as degree courses in schools. They take 4 years in most schools, except in FUTA and some others where you have to use 5 years for every course.

Benefit of studying the courses is that you are eligible to use the certificate for direct entry to MBBS when you're done.

Coming to Eksu, I was also there last year, just didn't want to mention it in my short story. We were already in the screening hall when they just came and announced to us that there won't be admission for medicine that year. Disappointment everywhere.

But since they have anatomy and physiology programs, its a good development. I think they had recently obtained partial accreditation from MDCN, but they can't admit into medicine yet because there are backlogs of students that have to be cleared.

Its not a bad option to startup with any of them, who knows, they might allow students with a good grade to cross over in 200L.

Let me help describe in short what the courses do.
.anatomy is just d study of the structure of body organs, tissues. You'll learn how to describe them and various names. Physiology majorly has to do with the mechanisms by which the organs of the body/ processes within d body occur while biochemistry is the study of the chemical reactions that occur inside living cells.

For example, in anatomy, you'll learn all d parts of d kidney, the structure etc. Physiology will teach you how the kidneys forms urine, while biochemistry teaches you the cascade of reactions that go on at cellular levels to generate urine based on the structure and function of d kidney..
They are wonderful courses.

That's what Med students have to combine all together.
