You can get affordable ingredients at Blessing Feedmill, Ofatedo (along main estate express, like 250m after ofatedo junction).

I found their ingredients price very cheap compared to others.

Hope this help.

Pig Farmers Association of Nigeria (PFAN)
N2,000,000 FUND RAISING
The Pig Farmers Association of Nigeria is headquartered in Ibadan, Oyo State
Over the past few years, the piggery secretariat has been running from private donations and the office is a small cubicle with a limited number of seats. We have always had to rent venues to hold meetings and this costs money.
In the coming months, we plan to empower the states and local government clusters to become more active in the running of the association. They will in turn support the activities of the head office.
We also plan to elect executive members to positions at a later date to support the present executives especially the chairman who has been running the show even when membership was less than 10. He has been a great influence and support for the association and should be commended for his role so far.
A lot is planned for the office but limited by the availability of cash. Some of the benefits we could derive from the office is the prompt sharing of information regarding news on piggery, Seminars, grants, event invites, disease notification, new product introduction to name a few.
On behalf of PFAN, we will like to solicit for funds for the running of the secretariat from January, 2018. This has become necessary to elevate the focus of piggery in the country.
In the coming months, we plan to start pushing the piggery industry to the level of other associations but cannot do this alone, hence the cap in hand approach.
Some of the activities planned will include price monitoring, value addition, food processing and bulk feed sourcing.
A monthly meeting is planned with record attendance in view, we can only achieve this with proper planning and support from all levels.
To be effective, we need a minimum sum of two million naira for take-off to cover costs such as the running of the secretariat, event organisation, venue rentals for monthly meetings, seminar and workshops.
An incentive will be those that donate a minimum amount of N10,000 will automatically qualify for the membership and would not need to pay a separate membership fee to become a member of the association. Only association members can benefit from the association.
Please donate generously and let the donations roll in. We hope to round up the donations by the end of this month to allow us plan for January event

Make all payments to:

Bank: Zenith Bank

If you want to avail yourself of the opportunity for free membership and have contributed a minimum of N10,000, Kindly let us know by signifying with your payment reference.

Let's Make Every Kilo Count!!!!

Operation Phase out analog scale must start and end this year.

Considering the price of live weight for pigs, a mistake of 1 kg in 50 places is 25,000 Naira.

If you repeat the mistake 4 times in a year that's 100,000 Naira lost to the middlemen.

Buy Precise Digital Hanging Scale for measuring Live Pigs and Fishes as well as Feed.

Range is 0-300 KG

A very good day to all of us.
Today I want to talk about the management practices of "Steaming up" and "Flushing " as fundamentals to quality breeding.

It is saddening that so many of us today had resulted from improper knowledge and skill of animal breeding and has consequently portrayed this noble profession (Animal Husbandry ) as though it's a field, profession or career of mediocrity.
While some of us has actually gotten enough training for this enterprise, they had resolved to settling with what they know forgetting that knowledge and information is dynamic and ever changing.
In view of the technology and research that abound today, development and gainful information for the better practices in Animal breeding is becoming more and more intense and beneficial.
I therefore advise us Farmers (Breeders) to always seek for updated information and knowledge through consultancy and research for it would help better our production.

"Steaming up" and "flushing " is our discussion today.

Steaming up: This is a management practice in pig production like other livestock that involves providing pregnant Sows (Female pigs) with enough food , clean water and care - like exercises in the cool hours of the day (early morning and evening) for some 1-2weeks before the date of parturition (parturition is the act of giving birth in farm animals).
The benefit of this practice is that it provides the sows with enough strength and body ease for parturition. It also brings about strong, agile, good looking, piglets with full productive potentials. We all know how hard it is to give birth not to talk of when it is multiple birth like could be seen in pigs which can produce up to 14 piglets at one birth.
If the pregnant sows doesn't get enough food, they would obviously be weak and they would suffer during parturition. This would often times result in so many birth complications like still-birth, weak piglets, dead piglets, deformed piglets and/or death of the sow after birth or during birth.
It is also important to note that it more good to supplement vitamin sources like fruit peels or whole fruits when you want to "steam up" your animals.
Successful completion of this practice would always show on the piglets who are always strong and resistance to diseases.

Flushing: This management practice involves putting gilts and dry sows (female pigs to be mate) on high quality feed some 1-2weeks before they are serviced (impregnated) by the boar(s). (A boar is a male pig).
The implication of this act is that it encourages so many eggs to be produced and released for fertilization by the sperm when the animals mate thereby encouraging high multiple births.
If you have had issues with your sows giving birth to only 3-6 piglets at each birth, then this factor should be checked after the genetic potential of the boar and sow.

My dear pig farmers,
Let us learn the attitude of consulting from experts and also preferring solutions to questions asked on this group. It will do us a great good.
