Whats up with the rubber bands on the grenade?

Why would you want to stop the lever from popping when you pull the pin?
It's probably a safety feature. The US m67 Has a similar thing but it's a metal clip instead.. The idea is that a grenade that somehow accidentally gets it's pin pulled will still be safe to use.

So you don't actually have any technical idea of what "easy" is? What exactly is this "signal receiver"? Can I buy it from my local radio shop? Useless comment.

You think like a baby. Why would defence items be sold in local civilian radio shop? There are thousands of spare part manufacturers in European defence industry that can supply parts. Signal reciever is in the EU ot USA open market.

Most South African made defence products are loaded with imported made in Europe component parts, but you guys hide those facts and push stories to us as if you make everything. Your Rooivalk is loaded with mostly French parts from engine to whatever. The passive radar you are building, go deep into it and you will find one European technical partner giving South Africa high tech help to do it. Like Your ARHLAC aircraft is mostly built by Boeing company of USA selling high tech parts and teaching South Africa how to build. Yet you guys noise about all these things as if you do it 100%.

Half truth is equal to half lie.

No one asked you to copycat us. No one cares. It's what South Africa chooses to do. Others can do whatever they want. I only replied to your comment to remind you how st***d you are, in case you forgot. Have a good day.

As a South African, you always want to have the last word in any argument so you can sleep well at night. You guys never grow up. Baby adults!

Remember these pictures in 2007, they literally filled up my personal school server space. I remember my lecture peeping into my server and asked if I wanted to join the military, his name was Eugene De Kock and I'm not even kidding there.

So what's your problem?

We made the Rooivalk under crippling UN sanctions, in fact the UN had to later pass another resolution banning the export of weapons from South Africa because we had turned the situation around... Yes we make plenty of unapologetic noise for it because how many countries have the ability to develop weapons and scare the world while being sanctioned? Your airforce decayed into oblivion and you haven't recovered from a simple weapons embargo.

Our systems have some components from other countries, who doesn't?.... The question is how many countries are able to produce world-class weapon systems using those already available components? Definitely not Nigeria.. What have you produced in your latest military spending spree? An APC? Really? Only an APC that uses commercial tryes... We produced missiles, long range rockets and nukes when we were under threat, we are developing passive radars, 5th generation missiles, etc while we're at peace and then you come talk your rubbish here.

Grow up Augustine or simply crawl back to the cave you came from.

standard safety procedure for grenades recovered from terrorists

the movement of the lever is what initiates the firing

so keeping it tied down defeats detonation by intended sabotage of the safety pin

Against official directives , he engaged in a sporadic "spacing" attack against the mercenary team destroying senstive equipments while radioing for backup. It the exchange of spacing hostilies , the mercs pushed the recon to my cave unit , unit 17 where I and my squad provided covering fire awaiting reinforcements. lt Africaken254 personally engaged lt colonel krugger 's in a huge exchange culminating in interception by frumentius and andrewcza, this exchange degnerated from a spacing engagement to an uncoordinated funny attack and racial artillery fired on both sides, reinforcements arrived and pushed the mercs 400m to original engagement point freeing my cave unit, with major tdayo and his team flanking , the original recon team was freed up and Captain jlin115 restored parity with his actions eventually forcing our men to neutral ground , with sergent ibrahimanes doing exactly so on our side, as both sides retreated sergent jakeporeshenko lunched a damaging truth bound assault on andrewcza culminating in some wounds with the entire merc rear units lead by 2nd lt ssaengine leading the charge. This was repelled by our units , at 22:00 , the engagement was called off and both sides retreated thus securing the ground for the meantime while outlook units like ours took shelter in our various caves. The misunderstanding in the thread seems to boil down to this:

It's correct that the majority of our defence products utilise foreign technology in some form or another.

However, most of that technology is not imported per se, but produced locally under various licensing agreements. So it's also correct that we have the capacity to manufacture all of it in RSA too.

To illustrate, let us consider one of the earliest successes of Armscor: the Ratel ICV.

The Ratel may be advertised as a fully South African-manufactured product, but the chassis design came from MAN (a West German company) and the hull was designed by Springfield-Bussing, whose parent company was Bussing (another West German company). The Ratel engines were also built under licence from MAN.

Yes, we built these vehicles, including the engines, armament, and all the associated parts in RSA. But we have the Germans to thank for the design of those parts.

However, Syrian security forces had a very different versions of events, a senior officer told Al-Masdar News on Friday evening, who insisted that the above images were fabrications taken out of context.

The exclusive military source admitted that an explosion had indeed taken place in the Bustan Basha area on Friday, but said that it had occurred after a Russian jet accidentally dropped its reserve fuel tank shortly prior to landing at the nearby airfield.

He underlined that no one was hurt as the fuel tank dropped from the sky and added that the Russian jet had returned from an air raid in eastern Syria.

Images were also released by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) showing its side of events, including a photo of the alleged crater:
