Telling and threatening people not to vote is a serious crime anywhere in the world. If you try this nonsense in the USA, you will not see the sun for a very long time.

I am even annoyed that Buhari is allowing this rubbish to continue, all the people that have been intimidating the electorate with violence if they perform their constitutional duty of voting should be arrested and dealt with. The government must make voters feel secure from IPOBs threats and intimidation during this election period. What is the government doing to assure voters of their safety during the elections? I am beginning to think government is complicit in this whole issue, maybe they don't won't high voter turn out to make rigging easier.

IPOB cannot decide they want referendum or anything, as IPOB is nothing but group of anarchists lead by one man, they have no authority to demand anything.

IPOB, cannot boycott an election they are not a participant in, you only boycott election you candidate or your party is on the ballot. IPOB can only advise sympathizers not to vote. Not all the 2 million plus registered voters are sympathizers of IPOB.

Threatening another person with violence is a criminal offense anywhere in the world.
You are being dramatic. IPOB did not threaten anyone with violence, thats not how they operate. This was a rally to urge people to boycott the election, election boycott is legal. The person making the video then wished death on anyone who votes and he is speaking for himself. IPOB never said anything about going after people who go to vote. IPOB is not known as a violent organisation.

What can Buhari do? Send in the Army to kill more people? Arrest thousands of IPOB members? This has gone beyond the scope of Buhari.

IPOB can demand a referendum, even just me can demand a referendum. Anyone is entitled to demand a referendum, how the government reacts is a different matter.

The important issue here is if IPOB used violence in its demand for referendum? They did not. There was clash with the Army in Abia but that was it.

I do not see what IPOB has done wrong here

The bolded is the being economical with the truth, IPOB main modus operandi is using threats of violence and insults to promote their agenda. All Kanu and its IPOB followers know how to do is insult and threaten everybody who disagrees with their ideology with violence.

The IPOB member or official in an IPOB rally who promised or wished ( as you prefer to term it) death to anyone who come out to vote is only speaking for himself, but a Yoruba king or doctor in the privacy of his home who says anybody who does not vote for his candidate in an election is speaking for the whole Yoruba ethnic group.

IPOB is threatening violence as the only strategy for forcing the government to agree to a referendum. It has not even considered the political alternatives. It has no political strategy or even base.

No government, and I mean no government even in the western world would allow half of what IPOB are getting away with in Nigeria.

In the US, Kathy Griffen was invited by the secret service for using the severed head of donald Trump in a photo shoot, and you guys are justifying IPOB's threat to severe the head of Buhari, after that you guy will scream IPOB is not a violent organization.

Promoting violence is a crime, it can encourage sympathizers to carry out violent actions. That is how ISIS get sympathizers in foreign countries to commit violent acts.

Whole Soyinka's bluff has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

IPOB believes in the use of violence to achieve its political agenda. It promotes violence.

I challenge you to say any incidence of violence that can be attributed to IPOB outside the clash with Army or police such as Python dance. Where has IPOB been deliberately violent?

Threatening violence is not the same as being violent. In this particular video, those protesting did not threaten violence on anyone, the person who made the video only wished death on those who vote. He never said either him or IPOB are coming for those who vote.

The person in the video was speaking for himself. But the Oba of Lagos said he will send Igbos to the Lagoon while addressing a group of Igbos.

If a person, or group threatens violence, the law says that the authorities should investigate and charge to court where necessary. Threat is merely saying something that has not yet happend, a person cannot be criminalised for actions they are yet to carry out.

@POLITICSNGR
Members of the Indigenous people of Biafra(IPOB) group are currently marching across major roads in Onitsha, the commercial city of Anambra State ahead of the November 18, gubernatorial election in the state.

This development is arising when preparations for the Anambra polls are in high gear. The election is expected to hold on November 18th.

It will be recalled that it been months since the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has been missing and his whereabouts unknown. Kanu was last seen in September during a military raid of his Afaraukwu compound in Umuahia, Abia state.

PoliticsNGR has gotten footage and photographs from the scene. Watch below;

They're very free to protest peacefully and boycott the elections, but they should not harrass those that want to vote when they do that then they have committed a crime and will be dealt with as the Govt see fit.

Nobody is against their agitations or whatever but all of these should be done peacefully, come 18th Nov 2017, those that want to sit at home and eat Ofe Nsala should stay at home to eat, while those that want to vote can go and vote simple.

See how you are disgracing yourself and supporting evil, let's then assume the Oba of Lagos and the US based doctor were speaking in their personal capacities and not for the Yoruba race.

Do you know I can report you to the police for threat to life if you don't know, I'm sure if the police starts picking up those threatening death on others, you'd be the first to shout witch-hunting.

I challenge you to tell us you never heard about IPOB miscreants attacking police stations in PH and other locations and demanding for the release of their fellow miscreants who were earlier arrested, this was even before the python dance 2.

Evil is evil no matter how you want to paint it, IPOB wanted a boycott but seeing the scenario on ground, they decided to threaten people, is that not a sign of defeat on their part? Let them test their popularity without the threats and FYI, this action of IPOB will make more people dissociate from it. I'm sure if this threat was coming from a Yoruba or Hausa person or group, you'd have been shouting ICC, UN, ECOWAS etc.

This shows your lack of knowledge. IPOB claimed they have secret service and you sent in armed soldiers without any intelligence to confirm it, now we see why NA are still fighting BH after several years.

The first thing you learn in the military is before you put booths on the ground ensure that your intelligence is correct. Deploying soldiers on false intelligence not only comprise the mission but put the lives of the soldiers at risk. From your assertion NA acted based on IPOB insinuation without doing their job properly.

I can see how narrow minded you are and how difficult it is for you to read situations critically before taking actions. You are just one of those kids running unattended online.

And here I leave you to your device.
You should know that the FG was being magnanimous in allowing kanu to display his madness for such a long time, no country on earth would even allow 1/10th of kanu's madness except Nigeria. A threat to national unity is a threat to the territorial intergrity and sovereignty of the nation and that is not the job of the police or Boys scout to protect.

Do you think I'm one of those who only listen to what radio Biafra tells them? I knew people who were there that day even if I've warned them earlier not to go, thank God common sense fell on them to leave before the soldiers started the onslaught on the remaining stubborn ones.
What was wrong and murderous with what the soldiers did, did they go dragging people out of their houses to be shot, why didn't the soldiers start the shooting immediately they left the barracks but started shooting when they got to kanu's house? Now you're trying to claim high moral ground...Hypocrites everywhere! They become human rights activist when it suits them.
Tobiasbeecher, make sure you join them oh. Put your might and self where your mouth is. That is the only language crazy mumus like you understand. I equally used Shites and Bokoharam. Its their ideology, they will not listen to anyone else, same with Ipob, they dont ever obey the police or army, they complain of everything under the sun. What are you trying to justify now? Your defiance to law enforcement or to Federal govt? Where else in the world can you do this and get away with it? Yes, its kill kill kill until you all get in line. Who says they're innocent? You? But, you and I know you cannot be trusted. Also, you never keep to promises, Where is Kanu? he jumped bail, you see nothing wrong, he violated bail conditions, nothing wrong, if he is re-arrested now you will start screaming he is innocent.

You are typical example of why Nigeria can never be good. You care more about sentiments than the rule of law.

It is very unfortunate that many Nigerians such as your self do not care what the constitution says, they care more about stupid reasoning.

The government procribed IPOB as a terrorist organisation, which is being challenged in court, but the government cannot proscribe the constitution. Wether IPOB is proscribed or not, people still have the right to agitate, wave their flags and demonstrate as per the rights given to them under chapter 4 of the Nigerian constitution.

Telling people not to vote is not a crime, anybody can tell anyone not to vote. What is a crime is stopping people from voting. Since the Anambra election is yet to hold, what crime has IPOB commited? None

If IPOB decides they want to get referendum from government through election boycott, protesting, demontration, flying Biafran colours, persuasion and civil disobedience, all of them are legal under the laws of Nigeria.

Your problem is that you are just that you are another uncivilised Nigerian who thinks everything is solved by force of arms. But when that armed struggle starts, thats when Nigerian government starts running around to negotiate with Boko haram, Fulani herdsmen, Niger Delta militants.

But it is IPOB that has not yet taken up arms that is your headache

Hmmmm..........
Gidygidy, you ommitted the "threat" of death issued by Ipob to anyone that votes. Again, if FG or the Nigerian army proscribes a group as a terrorist group and they now take the case to court, they automatically the FG's proscription is now void because they the case is in court with no ruling or sitting yet? Also, in your protest, you can take over roads and block movement and wave flags in a peaceful demonstration right? Like i have always said, you lack sincerity, you lack objectivity. maybe if you talk to others that has a different view and mindset you might learn. Also, everyone knows about the injustice of the army and vigilante on bokoharam and those that look like bokoharam. I dont see same for Ipobs.

IPOB did not threaten to kill anyone who votes. The guy in the video wished death on anyone who votes and he is speaking for himself. There is a big difference between wishing death on someone and threatening to go and kill the person.

But I have to say that making verbal threats hold little or no weight under the law. Who doesnt make threats? Nigerians make threats every day, "I will deal with you!", "I will kill you today!", "I will finish you". Happens everyday.

Verbal threat with no action to back it up does not mean anything and so far, IPOB has not touched anyone.
