bro..its always good to have a good grade out of school. i graduated with a 3rd class degree in civil engineering..though i was too carried away with fun in school...when i was posted to bauchi for my service year and my ppa was Atiku Abubaka University. i was assigned to teach the 100lvl drawings..i make sure i took my time and everyone was enjoying it..they wanted to even retain me but i decided not to stay..i was given a state award and also cds award (FRSC) i make sure i carried out my responsibilities that is given. Had meetings with big dignitaries in FRSC because i am part of the excos. Now with my 3rd class im working in a construction firm earning above 100k monthly asides personal building contracts. so please you just have to be smart and do what you have passion for. pray to God to make your ways easy despite any situation(s) thats my prayer everyday. some have 1st class and still looking for Job and here i am with 3rd class doing good. its the grace of God. In conclusion your grade doesn't determine how you will be successful in life. So wise up bro

After my nysc i was retained with a small salary, each day i wake up and realized my certificate is useless to me I worked harder. Stayed 3 years in the company, learned and got all the experience.

The first company i applied to employed me with a salary of 200k in 2011....u can imagine.

Today I am a team lead in a multinational Telecom vendor in Nigeria with a salary of more than half a million monthly.

The problem of graduates are pride and ability not to embrace starting small.

Trash your certificate, when any opportunity come to learn please learn and learn fast and u will be placing value on your self.

Labour market is full of papers and certificates,experience is scarce. Grab one and be valuable regardless of ur course of study.

PS: I have a friend who studied zoology but he's a manager in mtn today.... We struggled together those days....

First things first,

I know this must hurt alot as you sounded as if you nearly graduated with a 2.1.

Take heart. Its not the end of the world. Some people didn't even go to school.

The last thing you should be doing to now is looking at the Cons.

The glass is half full or half empty. Depends on how you look at it.

What you should be focused on is the Pros.

Let me leave you with one advice. The most important thing is not losing your confidence. Its hard but try and muster confidence from what you know how to do best.

So lets talk about Pros.

1. You are a degree holder...... You might see this as nothing but it is a big deal.....

2. You can work and be gainfully employed

3. You can get a higher degree...

4. You can finally breathe....... After all the schooling from nursery school, you have gotten to the point where you can respectably hang your boots.

5. You will soon be serving your country......

When I was in school....we used to have this guy ...Uche...he was business minded..he was dealing in clothes. He graduated with 2.2 we all went to serve he served and after the service, he went back to his business. Before we could get our first jobs ,he got his first car. Before we could buy our first cars he has gone third cars married...today he runs one of the biggest clothing lines in East and he is a graduate better than the graduates wearing starched shirts earninh 80 k and 130k per month


It's not about paper certificates, it's about God and zeal to work hard

success in life is guaranteed based on ur DRIVE, DESIRE, DETERMINATION. Note that ur academic qualification has little or nothing to d with making money its all abt how good u can think and take advantage of every opportunity. I know of two of my lecturers who graduated with 3rd class but today they r professors.
u need a DRIVE to spark ur DESIRE, and to consolidate success DETERMINATION is what u need most, cos determination is stronger than witchcraft.

The only disadvantage is if u dont have CONNECTION!

OP don't ever let ur school certificate grade bring you down, my older brother finished with 3rd class, not because he was dumb or whatever, be just didn't like school because he thought it was a waste of time. He was more business inclined.
Right now, he is in Alaba int'l mrkt doing very well for himself, even better than my cousins that finished with 2-1.

My advice, learn a skill and make it fast. Time awaits no man.

My colleague in school who is now a freelancer, has totally ignored his 1st class cgpa because freelancing pays his bills on a daily, making his certificate almost useless.

There is no advantage, only disadvantages that can be converted to advantages via continuous learning and self development!

Forgive my ignorance , but isn't coding meant for only those who studied computer science or other related courses.

A dream job will remain a dream job. Your best bet is to start a business or start acquiring skills. The earlier for you the better.

if you're still in school all you need to do is to calculate what is needed to get you to 2:1 and have a plan(i can always help you with that), however, if you have graduated with the 2:2 already then it's not a crime, I had a 3rd class in my 1st degree and I'm working and I have worked for different firms(though i'm presently running another degree with CGPA of 91.5%)... so just learn the tricks and have the zeal to succeed you will be fine...
