At least she has the right to air her views.

That stands her out from perhaps thousands who silently observed the "remixing" of tradition and just grumbled to themselves silently.
Where her right ends, Banky's right begins. His marriage shouldn't be her business. If she wants to assert her right, it shouldn't be over another person's.

Tradition and culture must be preserved.

Look at Minister of Edo culture dissecting someone else's marriage. Its a new day, Liberalism all the way. Do what pleases you (or what pleases your God) as far as your conscience is plain and you do not encroach on anyone's right or liberty.

She's very correct, a proper Edo traditional wedding is not done that way except they didn't intend to wed according to Edo customs and tradition.

She's actually right. Bride prices are not meant to be received in event centres or venues. Tradition is tradition and culture is culture. If you are saying your father didn't go to your mum's family compound to pay her bride price then something is amiss.

For those saying 'it is no one's business', it becomes people's business the moment you involve social media. This is what happens when you are clueless about your people's ways.

Adesua's mother is Yoruba... Yoruba don't pay bride price in secret. It is done so that the world knows the couple are married which is very important. We don't want our girl child's husband marrying in secret all over the place. So mind your business amebo.

This is an early sign that the marriage will crash in future

Yes, but d lady has a point. Y is it called traditional wedding when u dont do what the tradition demands.

Its only in naming, traditional wedding & burial that out roots r known. Lets still try to get that part right as we done turn western pple in Africa

I tire.. Even in Urhobo land, you can't pay bride price in a hall. It must be in her father's compound or family house. Even if na mud house your papa dey stay, you must set canopy for outside. That's why most trad weddings are done lowkey. A friend that did the first and second dressing in a hotel was abused, that she wasn't married properly. That was the day i knew that they ought to dress the bride in a room in her father's house, not for her to show up dressed from hotel. All these small things are strong traditions.

You should understand that most Nigerian traditional weddings do not really recognize the mother of the bride. That her mum is Yoruba does not warrant the huge cultural digression.

The father or Head of the family (in the absence of the father), before the mother at all.

I see your point, but is the issue here about her rights versus Banky's?

Does her sharing her opinion invalidate the wedding?

However she has helped put a few facts straight for the next generation.

Think about it: even in today's jet age, if you're to be knighted by the Queen of England, she will still place a SWORD on your shoulder

So what's wrong in standing up for our rich heritage?

Bless you! Perhaps the parents' house isn't too befitting and they actually thought the scenes would give critics something to talk about. We are Africans before any other thing.

When a Benin woman weds, some certain rites are performed to curb infidelity.

These rites are among what the twitter girl pointed out but were omitted because some girls don't want to be faithful to one man.

Well, not in this case though. Banky is Yoruba, so it wouldn't matter. The story would have been different if he was an Edo or a Benin man.

Not sure it's part of what the girl inferred.

people blasting the lady about her statement n concerns fail to realize that traditional marriage shows where both parents of the couples stand.

if all she said is true then it really means Adesuwa's parents had no say in the marriage preparations, bankys family played a major role, when issues arise the lady's family won't be able to intervene or say in the demise of a woman, meaning her body won't be taken to her father's house.

I still don't know if Adesuwa is a Yoruba lady or Benin

Adesuwa's parent ought to have uphold their tradition but because of yoruba people money they allowed themselves to be bought
Exactly, don't mind those rubbishing the post.
We are the custodians of our tradition, a white man will not come and do it for us.
