Comparing Ooni with your Oba is a sacrilege. The Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council have two PERMANENT Co-CHAIRMEN; THE OONI OF IFE AND THE SULTAN OF SOKOTO, that should tell you who is greater. BTW, the Oba is on a nation wide tour, so expect to see him in Borno, Jigawa, Enugu, Imo (Okorocha fit dash am statue), Ondo before rounding it up at his SOURCE; ILE-IFE. So prepare to wail and vent your frustration on NL. It is permitted.



And where is it written anywhere in the background that these are the 2 most recognized rulers in Nigeria.... ? so some pictures of a meeting probably taken when our last Oba was transitioned to the great beyond and the current Oba was too busy getting installed as kiing are now facts of hierarchical superiority? The idea of a traditional ruler sitting in his palace and not travelling around is old and archaic. No modern Oba can survive a secluded life.

Traditional rulers have no constitutional role to play in governance, they can only influence things and attract development to their domain through lobbying and influence. When you don't move around, it is difficult to lobby or influence things successfully.
You are wrong, oba only leaves his palace when there is a crises, and now there is one concerning an ijaw man who was to be installed as a chief in Benin, but he was arrested and taken to Abuja, oba went for a meeting in respect of that.

The Bini traditional institution has been desecrated by this singular action.

Everybody in the society wants to use their position to play politics to have a taste of the national cake not knowing politics is a game made up of chameleon dancers which is not good for an Oba like this one's calibre.
The Ijaws in Edo state forsees this coming hence they crowned their own Pere. The Oba's visit to the Villa would not be unconnected with this development. To be frank, people will argue this is modernity and there's no such laws not allowing the Oba to get out of seclusion but as far as the Edos are concerned, he has lost 60% of his respect. It is seen as sacrilegious and weird to Bini Kingdom.

The Oba of Benin travels. He just doesn't do it frequently. Akenzua travelled to London at a time when there was need for it, there may be other instances. Funny enough, when the Queen of England visited Nigeria, he didn't go to the House of Chiefs at Ibadan to join other Monarchs in welcoming the Queen instead the Queen visited Benin in company of her husband and Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
Oba Erediauwa also did something similar to what his Son, Ewuare II is doing now. He paid a 'Thank you' visit to some Monarchs(Emirs, Obis and Obas) across Nigeria who attended his coronation after his ascension to the throne.

The Oba of Benin(Akenzua or Erediauwa) has visited my native Urhoboland in Delta state on one or 2 occasions since post-colonial times too.

If you observe too, Ewuare II just recently marked one year on the throne and this is the first time he'll be leaving Benin soil since his Coronation. Just watch out, he'll pay visits to several Monarchs as part of this nationwide tour which he has started with a visit to the President. His father did it before him.

So there are restrictions, most of them ritual, which makes the Oba not to move out much but he does move out... And who says things cannot change with time? grin

As for those people wailing that the Oba does not leave his palace keep wailing ooooo...This is just the beginning because HRM will surely visit sokoto...the sultan organized a durbar for him in Benin city during his coronation. He will be in Kano....Emir Sanusi is a frequent face. He will visit Onitsha, Igwe Alfred was present at his coronation. He will visit the Olu of Warri...the Olu was there during the coronation and the anniversary. He will likely visit either oyo or ife and i expect the wailers to wail more during this period. He will likely see the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom. He will visit one of the Peres of the Ijaws but obviously not that of Gbaramatu. The Obong of Calabar is a good friend.
Before i forget He will visit the Akiolu One of Lagos state....Oba Jagabani....The Eleko of Eko.......This Oba has always identified with the Benin palace even before the reign of this Oba. He was there during the coronation, he came last month for the anniversary....The Eleko comes to the Palace always.....So i urge all wailers to continue wailing but know that your wailing can never make an impact like Bob marley and his wailers band did.

I thought i was the only one tired of seeing that man everywhere! He isn't even making any effort to conceal the fact that he is a very powerful man in this government.

But Erediauwa also did a nationwide tour paying 'Thank you' visits to some Nigerian Monarchs, Emirs, Obis and Obas after his ascension to the throne to appreciate their attending his coronation. This is the first of a string of Visits that the Oba will pay in the tour which just kicked off. Oba Akenzua even visited London on one or two occasions too.
Ewuare II is doing the same thing his father did. The only difference is that he paid a visit to the President this time.
The Oba does not leave Benin much but he does move out sometimes. Just observe, he's visiting other people too especially Monarchs as part of the tour.

The Buhari led APC administration has not done much for the good people of Edo state despite being the only state in the Niger Delta region that gave him 95 percent of the vote.

Delta state did not vote for him. The same thing goes with Cross Rivers, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom.

Edo state did not get a juicy ministerial appointment. The state only got Minister of State for Health.

Buhari is maginalizing Edo state and its good people.

Since Buhari came to power as President he has not thought it wise to site federal industries in Edo state.

The APC National Chairman, Ex-Governor of Edo state, Chief John Odigie Oyegun is not adding value to his constitutuency.

He is the person that is supposed to be pressurizing Buhari to do more for the good people of Edo state. But unfortunately Oyegun is just doing FOLLOW FOLLOW thinking that he will remain chairman for ever.

Oyegun forgot that time is fast running out and this is the right time he should impress it upon Buhari to atleast sites federal project in Edo state.

It is not in the best interest of the good people of Edo state for Oyegun to be keeping quiet when things are not moving fine with the Buhari administration.

Buhari is not helping matter as he had given far too much appointment to his Hausa Fulani ethnic people.

If Buhari takes Edo state as his priority it will even convince the other states in the Niger delta that there is value voting for Buhari. But Oyegun is just a big disappointment and a drawback to the good people of Edo state.

Meanwhile, congratulation to the Bini royal family for the historic visit to Abuja, the federal capital.

Abba Kyari is Kanuri. The Kanuris are the most educated of all Northern groups, and are natural scribes...or technocrats! Of all the prominent sub ethnics in North, Kanuri is only one that has never ruled. Kyari is being groomed for take over.
