Hi!

How did you get the Letter of Experience? The same email route?

Pray tell

@Feygbe, @vcole, @blackbuddy and other knowledgeable folks. I've just got my letter of experience from FRSC, an international driver's licence and my expired nat'l driver's licence. What is the next step to apply for the Canadian driver's licence?
I'm in BC though
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by Rocorleone: 7:46am On Nov 23, 2017

I presume you are asking concerning the FRSC letter. However, I don't know anything about the cost. But all I can tell is it took 4 days to get delivered from ABJ via DHL.

How much did you pay? How long did it take you? Do you get it in Lagos or Abuja

Hi Rocorleone,

How long does it take to get the international driver's licence in Nigeria. I renewed my Nigerian driver's licence since June and up till now its not ready, so I'm thinking of getting the intl licence if it is processed faster.

From previous posts, you can use the expired one. Whats important is the date of first issue. My wife renewed last year october and till now they dont know where it is angry

Congrats @Adeza

Hi Adeza,

Congrats on your bundle of joy cheesy

Please what was the process of applying for child benefits? I thought one is only eligible after filing tax returns. Did you file tax returns immediately you landed.

I'll appreciate if you can give a little more detail on this.

Thanks.

My naija driver’s license will be 2years in January, I did the knowledge test and applied for exemption. I have the class 7 license and they said I can go ahead and do the basic road test now or wait till January for the advanced road test.

I had a baby last Wednesday , PR cards received and my older child has been paid child benefits for October & November, thought we had to wait for 3months before the ist pay

Your license should be ready. I renewed in August and it's ready for collection.

Yes WES will access your AAT as diploma and you use it claim additional degree points to upgrade your score.

Please sir , I have AAT too ,1) How many points will it add to your point ?

2)
Also ، Bsc and AAT , what is d equivalent on d CRS ranking page ?
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by Virt: 3:31pm On Nov 23, 2017
My dear, it's still not ready. Been checking through the SMS and online platform, and it shows " Processing, not ready for collection". Maybe its a function of my location.

Well, the first thing you have proved is that you have a working resume which got you this recruitment opportunity. The downside to your situation is that you don't have a PR visa yet. This situation is similar to what my relative passed through who got his PR visa and then began to apply for jobs while in Nigeria. He put my wife's Canadian phone number on his resume and when my wife received the call for phone interview, she responded and told them he was out but would call back. She sent him the number and he called back from Nigeria, passed his phone interview and got a date for his face to face interview. He then bought his ticket and landed in Canada on the day of his interview. Came to my house, changed his clothes, got a taxi straight to the interview and passed it! He got a job the day he landed and started work the following week.
In your case, there's no phone interview, straight to in-person, hands-on skills assessment and if you perform well, you get face to face. Since you have no way of knowing when you will get PR, they will not keep the role for you indefinitely but proceed to the next person available for the job. At least, you have assurance now that you have a good resume. So you may consider sending a polite response that you are unable to currently pursue the opportunity but are thankful for the consideration given to you. This is a great way to keep the door open and for them to remember you as a thoughtful, considerate person. It's possible they will keep your resume in their database for future opportunities. More opportunities will come your way, all the best ahead.

I have been trying to get a room on kijiji.ca with no luck. I have decided to go with airbnb. I am planning to book for 1-2 weeks then try to get a permanent accommodation after I have landed.
However, I am having issues effecting payment on airbnb. Anyone had any luck? Please help, I need to book urgently.

Why are you not getting rooms on kijiji? Landlord's employment/credit history requirement?

Use a USD dominated card.

I was passing through Nathan Philips Square in Toronto this morning and noticed preparations for the annual Cavalcade of Lights festival. The Cavalcade of Lights is an annual holiday tradition featuring the lighting of Toronto’s official Christmas Tree, live musical performances, a spectacular fireworks show and skating parties on the iconic outdoor rink. All free! If you're in the Toronto area, you might want to be there. https://www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/festivals-events/cavalcade-of-lights/

Hi all,
Pls I know this is not the most appropriate thread, but I haven't gotten a response that answers my question on the express entry thread. Those who did their ECA with WES, pls, were you guys requested to submit your degree certificate or was a statement of result adequate for the process (I only have statement of result available). Also, is IQAS ECA accepted by employers in Ontario? Or better still, do employers request ECA before u can be offered a job
I am sure the Express Entry thread is better place to get the answer you need.
I used Statement of result for my WES ECA and even also my e-APR. I don't even have my certificate yet and I am on my way to Canada already.
Employers don't normally require ECA for your certificates. ECA are mostly required for Professional bodies registration such as APEGA etc. This may be unavoidable if you fall into a regulated profession.

Most of the landlords are not even getting back. Calling them with a Naija number also seems to be ineffective.
Note that I was looking for 1-room shared apartment.
