Abeg, if na play make una stop am, o! shocked Which Edo people will collaborate with Igbo, for governorship of Lagos? Under which planet? Edo people have long memories...they have not forgotten how their homelands were invaded in 1967, by Ojukwu's boys. Edo people collaborate with...wetin? Abeg, make una no talk am again....

Yorubas will have nightmares because of this thread

No reason for nightmare or headache. A mixed Yoruba-Igbo Lagosian can very well become governor of Lagos state in the next 20 years.

That will not happen until we've had an Igbo president, which I am convinced is a certainty by the year 2023!

Funny thing, I hadn't thought about Edo people clamouring for presidency though. Forget Oshiomole. He's dead in the water! That fake "comrade" is too hateful and meanspirited, and Nigerian women will not vote for him. Laudate has a better shot!

In anyone thinking Igbo's cannot be civilian governors of Lagos should take a Trip back to the 70s , an Igbo man was the best military governor lagos ever had Ndubuisi Kanu was the military governor that laid the foundation of modern Lagos state and up until another Igbo man rules Lagos , lagos will continue on its directionless growth , growth without pattern, Lagos needs an out of the box solution and not the present patch patch remedy.

Who voted for Ndubusi Kanu and Ebitu Ukiwe to become governors of Lagos in the 70s? shocked Do you think we are still under a military regime? Those chaps were naval officers posted there by military fiat, and not elected by the people of Lagos, to govern them. There is a big difference!! Don't argue blindly. Check the facts. sad

And the growth of Lagos was laid by Tinubu, built upon by Fashola and improved by Ambode. Jakande should also be commended for all he did in Lagos, with respect to educatiional facilities and housing estates. undecided Now, please tell us in clear terms what Ndubuisi Kanu, did when he was military governor of Lagos. What foundation are you claiming that he laid, when he was just governor for 1 year?

it is not an easy thing to forecast in times like this becuase of the fragility of Nigeria and the dispensibility of the present brainless , thoughtless and planless Regime that thrives on propaganda.

what are your view about the desireability of an edo or igbo man to rule lagos in the year 2023, your views should factor the fact that Lagos was originally Edo which means Edo people owned lagos while igbos as a group are the largest investors , landlords and unltimtely IGR contributors in lagos .

please discuss intelligently

What will you say about this ?

You can't allow another person (from another religion) to rule your ward...

Then why do you wanna to rule Lagos?

Stop this propaganda. No self-respecting Edo man will come out to contest for governorship of Lagos, no matter how much investments he has within the city. He is content with his own square metre of influence in his region, where he can call the shots with contentment. Edo men are not landgrabbers unlike you lot!

why will blood flow , democracy is a game of numbers , if the Niger deltans and igbos come together and annoint one of them as a Governorship candidate and he wins m this itself is good for democracy, are yorubas now bloodier then Niger Deltans .

if Obama with a kenyan father can rule America successfully for 2 tenures then igbos and Niger deltans living in Lagos can contest for the Lagos seat .

Sooo...its no longer Igbo will rule Lagos, now you are looking for backup from Edo.

The same Edo your people invaded and told you are their new lord, and to start learning igbo language. Abi na lie?

What about a generation later and the Edo man's children who were born and raised in Lagos, married a Lagosian spouse and continued to reside in Lagos with their children, showed interest in governing?

P.S. I see wahala coming. <<zooms out of thread>> cheesy

Don't worry... sad they will not, even if they live in Lagos for 5 generations. There are already 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation Bini/Edo folks living in Lagos. Many of them have even intermarried with Yorubas. How many of them have come out to contest for governorship in Lagos? They respect themselves too much to do so. If they wish to contest for governorship, they will look towards Edo state. They are content with their own sphere of influence. I repeat: they are not land grabbers like the IPOB-Igbo youths.....

Well, I don't think there's anything wrong if they were to consider it. I'm sure in civics class some boy or girl with an Edo father (and Edo last name) and Yoruba mother has thought about being governor of Lagos state before. It's not like they're thinking of becoming a traditional ruler outside of their lineage. As a traditionalist, I just see civilian government differently from the monarchy. undecided

But I'm not advocation anything drastic. If that's how the people are and they're happy and content, more power to them.

Why do you guys lie so much? If Ndubuisi Kanu (who was in office for one year 1977 -78 ) laid the foundation of modern Lagos, where then was Mobolaji Johnson who led Lagos from 1967 to 1975?
E pele iro yi.
Everytime an Igbo man comes out to lay any kind of claim on Lagos, the dream of ever leading the state democratically is deferred further into the horizon.
