There were two MAJOR resistance from the Igbos against the British colonials.

1) The one led by the Aro-confederacy and lasted for about 20 years. This confederacy included the surrounding ibibios

2) Ekwumekwu resistance led by the Anioma Igbos for almost 30 years.



There is a reason why the British hated Igbos during their rule in Nigeria. Igbos made it difficult for them. This also made them worried that an Igbo leadership in Nigeria would make it very difficult for them to control and exploit Nigeria in the future.
