Abeg ooo. Is Obafemi Martins the best we have? What of Cyril Dessers, Paul Onuachu, Fernando etc. Let's give them a chance Joel Obi's inclusion will be great. Eagles midfield need him How about Kevin Akpoguma? Will he still play for Nigeria? |

The call for Martins has been heard before. The last time under Keshi, he failed terribly to meet up to expectation when finally invited. Happy the coach is looking at other GK options, would like to see what Okoye can do. |

Mickael2:Iheanacho's National team stats prove that his stats in the EPL is no fluke. Considering he had limited time at City and the EPL is no walk in the park. |

Mickael2:how many times do I have to tell you that National team and Club performance are not the same. They are proven in the GwG, that is what matters to me. I am not in you people's club football gang, I couldn't be less interested in what is going on in their clubs. Kayode is not one of the forwards on my list BTW, he is still on trial for National Team, so he and Obagoal are not very different as far as I am concerned |

Mickael2: Mascherano, despite his quality was on the bench at West Ham. Lukaku, Salah and Kevin De Bruyne were on the bench at Chelsea despite their quality. You can be good and still be on the bench in a club. Damari Gray went on a marathon on the bench at Leicester despite his quality. |

Mickael2:According to a West Ham insider, Tevez will not consider staying at Upton Park as long as Curbishley is in charge. 'Tevez likes the club and wants to stay,' the source said, 'but he won't while Alan Curbishley is the manager. He hasn't forgotten how he was treated when Curbishley first took over from Alan Pardew. He told Tevez he didn't know what his best position was, treated him indifferently in training, and refused to play him at first.' Curbishley left the 23-year-old on the bench for his first game in charge, a 1-0 win over Manchester United in December, and it was a month before he named Tevez in a starting line-up in the Premiership. 'If there was a change of manager maybe it would be different,' the source added, 'but Tevez does not think Curbishley knows what he is doing and that he's a bad manager. He wants to play for someone who can further develop his game. Curbishley recognises now that Tevez saved our season, but it's too late.' https://www.theguardian.com/football/2007/may/27/newsstory.sport2 This was Tevez with star quality left on the bench. What we are seeing today, did not start now. |

There is this 18 year old exciting goal keeper in Germany who plays for Fortuna D. His name is Maduka Okoye. Rohr has been monitoring him. |

Mickael2: You are making it look as if playing in Girona and China is the same thing. Put Kayode in Martins club and he will perform. Kayode is a brilliant player. In Levante, Martins managed 9 goals in 27 matches. Not fireworks to the best of my knowledge. In Wolfsburg, 6 goals in 16 games. In Inter and Newcastle, 28 goals in 88 matches. In Shanghai, 16 in 29 games. He is a good player, but do not make him the best thing since slice cake bread and trying to make Kayode struggling in Girona mean he lacks quality because Martins scored some goals in China. |

lexyman: Let us see how it goes but teams are getting tighter in their compact play against us and thus restricting passing channels to break them down. Let us see how the team handles the coming challenges but I am scared of the repeated parked bus systems. |

solonnachi:Okoye has played only two games ( 1 and half) this season and that is because of an injury the number 1 choice in the last few weeks. Yet to concede so far. Still playing for the B side of fortuna Dusseldorf. He is still very young though. |

Kog45:At 18 years, that is not a bad level for a keeper. Very few coaches like to take risks with young keepers so they have to learn in lower leagues. |

Let them go to clubs that need them most and stop chasing money over playtime. Omeruo is playing day in out because he went to a club that needs him more than he needs them. BascoVanVeli: |

Because they need him more than he needs them. Let our players start using their brains. Go to clubs that have less staff for the position you play so you can play day in and out. Oasis007: |

Nna, so many factors go into team selection .... believe me! Meanwhile, did you read the BBC article on how Ethnic minority coaches still face 'barriers' in English football? So do you think that those barriers are limited to the ethnic minority coaches and don't extend to the players as well? Anyway, I hope and pray that Kelechi would be bold enough to have a crucial end of year conversation with the coach. Go in there and ask him why you're not playing. And if he doesn't give you a good explanation then request a loan move in January. I am pretty sure that there are many EPL teams who would be happy to take him and give him playing time. Kelechi needs to play football next year, I don't care if it's in the Championship sef. And by the way, if Kelechi is as piss poor as some of y'all makes him out to be, why then were ManCity hesitant to let him go? Remember that they even tried to put a buy back clause in his contract! #JustSaying .... O pari komekn: |

My broda, I weak for some folks here sha! If anything, Osaze should even a better option than Martins because he's younger and a much better player too. All in all, Joel Obi the only player I would support his recall at this time. Enyeama has retired, we should let him enjoy his well deserved retirement. Martins, Uche, etc are not needed. The team we qualified with is good enough especially when you include the likes of: Idowu, Aina, Uzoho, and hopefully Joel Obi. O pari Humility017: |

safarigirl: No they will tell us that the coach did not utilize him well just like when they accused Kehsi even when martins fail to take the two chances keshi gave him.We Nigerians are very funny, what do we really want to achieve at the world cup, just to appear and parade aging players all in the name of experience? Can martins guarantee goals in the world cup that will make Nigeria get to the quarter finals. This is how we made a case for yobo at the last world cup and the rest they say is history. Our older players just want to appear at the world cup which is the dream of any player, but in terms of superlative performance, they are never hungry enough, am not deceived. I will not even support an enyeama in the world cup and pls am not also moved by former player's performance for their clubs months going to the world cup to whip up more sentiments for their inclusion in the world cup squad where we have players who sweat it out during the qualifiers who were truly hungry. Am scared cos with the way we are going calling all manner of names to go to the world cup, we may be heading for disaster. |

tbaba1234:I hope you're not really suggesting we go to war with a goalkeeper from the German Regiona West league? The U19 team of Fortuna Dusseldof he plays for, plays in the equivalent of Agege league in Lagos. ![]() |

From the proverbial horse's mouth: “I’m no innovator,” Guardiola has said. “I’M AN IDEAS THIEF.” It’s true the influence of Cruyff’s Barcelona and Louis van Gaal’s Ajax are undeniable (Pep himself wrote: “They were capable of perfection – they gave football lessons to everyone”), but few have the stones to employ such radical concepts in huge games. Cc goodjoe Please read the article. It's interesting and the intensity is frightening. goldfish80:Given that our current keepers are really not that good. We need to look for options. No one is saying Okoye should be first choice or that he should even make the WC team. He could just be one for the future. Youth GKs abroad are often better grounded in the fundamentals of Goalkeeping than many experienced NPFL keepers. Nigerian keepers often have to go abroad to reach their potential. Enyeama struggled a lot with crosses in his early years with Nigeria. |
