I will recommend the toughest possible similar opponents for friendlies.

Brazil for Argentina
Germany for Croatia
Poland (small but unpredictable team) for Iceland
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 5:31pm On Dec 01, 2017
Argentina
Iceland
Croatia
Nigeria.

I would say thank God for this group. It could have been worse. My heart only settled when Morocco took the spot in group B.

On paper we are the under-dogs in that group. But realistically we are not.

Croatia and Iceland are beatable.

Two things: Just like I said after our WC qualifying group was released, Nigeria can either top that group or we come last. The first game, against Croatia is key. We need to beat Croatia like our lives depend on it. Beating Croatia will give us the boost to beat Iceland.
Henn... but Croatia are a very tough team o.

Argentina are not exactly at their best considering how they qualified, their star players are aging and considering also the psychological advantage from that friendly (even though I know the WC game would be tougher).

It is a fair draw IMO.

This morroco can beat Portugal but Spain I don't know.

Iran isn't soft either, very defensive and good with counter attack.

what do you think of Senegal's group?

I'm not moved by the draw, it's fair enough to me, and if we can't beat Iceland and Croatia, then what the hell are we doing at the WC.

I think Nigeria needs to be wary of Iceland being our first match

you know those European nations they're very technical.
and i can vow wit my last penny we won't beat Argentina again....when next we meet.

so we just have to beat Croatia and Iceland to qualify....

Again, you'll be surprised how much input Rohr would be having on this team. Barring any ish later on, i see SE topping the group by the time we lock horns with the argies for the final group fixture.

It's all fixed. England would always get the easy draw. And the hosts would always get the easiest draw. And the potentially strong teams from Africa would get some of the toughest draw. It's a rigged system.

We are as strong as Croatia and Iceland, we can match them for everything they have. So I'm not really fazed.

Friendlies are a two way thing. You must also be attractive to your opponents in friendlies.

Colombia are playing Senegal, they would want to have a meeting with us in a friendly. They would also be a good South American test in preparation for Argentina.

Brazil are not playing any African team so Nigeria will not be of interest to them.

Poland is playing Senegal, so Nigeria would be attractive to them. They would also be attractive to us in preparation for Croatia and Iceland.

Germany are not playing any West African team and so Nigeria may not be attractive to them. Although Rohr may just influence this but it will not be of much benefits to Germany.

Brazil or Colombia (prepare us for Argentina)

Denmark or Sweden (prepare us for Iceland)

Serbia or Belgium (prepare us for Croatia)

O pari

Boss, Uruguay are more similar to Argentina than Brazil and Colombia, as the latter two have a large number of black players and are thus more physical.

I agree with Belgium though.

. It's good to be considered underdogs. I want the boys to play with anger, ruthlessness and determination but still a bit of moderation. In fact because of what they said,Nigeria and Iceland will top that group.

I like our group personally. It's not such a deadly group that'll make us scared and again its not such an easy group that will make us complacent.

Now to our preparations since we have faced argentina I don't think we need to face south american opposition in our friendlies. I think playing serbia sweden and a top team with a dominant midfield like that of croatia will prepare us very well. The hard work starts now may God reward our efforts.

Go super eagles

I have mixed feelings. Croatia are actually good enough to be in pot 1. Argentina with Messi (if he feels like it) can beat almost any team. I just have a feeling we got drawn with two pot 1 teams.

But hey, I trust the Eagles to be up for it. I also believe the other three are cursing their luck as we speak grin

Ikr!! They would definitely not underrate us, that's for sure.

I was talking in terms of the teams to give us the toughest games. Uruguay is an aging team. Anyway, I think Icon4s nailed it. Teams most likely to accept a friendly with us those that have African teams in their groups.

No mind them.None of those teams have the quality to beat us.

We will qualify from that group unbeaten just like our qualifiers.

Dear Argentina, please don't take that 4-2 friendly victory at heart. It was just a friendly and we were just joking. Someone cannot joke with you again? Forgive us please.

It's a fair group

I personally think Argentina will crash out at the Group Stage this time.

Nigeria and Croatia to go through from this group.

We need to top this group to avoid France and in case we somehow meet them, PLEASE break a French player's leg.

That's a pretty tough group but our group is still more tricky.

First, everyone needs to forget this last friendly because the Argentina you will see in Russia would be a totally different team. In addition, we tend to find it tough against Latin American teams compared to Euro teams, so I don't mind playing Germany ahead of Argentina.
Croatia is talent loaded team. Demark is a pretty strong team but I would take them over Croatia any day.
Mexico has the talent but they can't score to save their lives. I don't mind playing them in place of Iceland, believe it or not.
