I gladly join my fiance in cooking.. If she is washing her clothes.. I bring mine and two of us sit down and wash our clothes together.. I have no problem with that
That's very lovely but I pray she wouldn't end up thinking it as a right

You peeps get it wrong. Some men like to cook. Some women don't like to.

Find the shoe that fits and and stop looking for one that is all shades of wrong for you personally.

Your woman must cook for you? Find a woman who believes its her role to do such.

As a woman, you don't like to cook? Find a man who doesn't consider this to be a deal breaker.
Isn't this the hypocrisy the OP is talking about? Why the double standards.

You conveniently forgot to mention that women should also find a man they can be providing for. Why didn't you ask the women if it is a must for their men to provide for them.

Your hypocrisy sticks to the high heavens.

i concour with you totally. when feminisim started in the late 20th century,it was to give women equal opportunities as men not necessarily making them the same as men. whether we like it or not,men and women have different roles to play in the grand scheme of life,we are all unique in our different ways,we were created to complement each other.
the recent wave of feminism seems to stem out from women who want to "eat their cake and have it", they want to live as they please and not be held accountable for it. its surprising that Nigerian feminist want to be independent in all ramifications and still require the men to pick their bills, propose etc. ladies lets be realistic, open your eyes and ponder this decisions, i'm all for equal opportunity for everyone, male and female, but let's not shoot ourselves in the foot by pushing our men to the wall and end up regreting our actions in the future.
Wow

Well said.

Intelligent unbiased female spotted.

I cannot tell.. But what I know is that I've always built the habit of assisting in our relationship.. If I cannot iron all my clothes because of business, she helps me.. If she cannot cook because of her work, I come home and cook, if she is the person free she cooks.. Sometimes she takes my car to the mechanic. It all depends on how you relate with her

No, I don't so.
I am saying in a nutshell that it is about shared values. Remember we all don't want the same thing, and even if we do, to different extents.

So our reactions when faced with the same options will not necessarily tally.

When it comes to knowing your way around your partner's body, again you need to remember that people are turned on by different things. It is an individual thing so again, it's about finding that good fit for you.

It depends on the woman, some think it's a must. Some don't.

Do you provide for your woman? If yes, what exactly is it that you provide?

Well, the concept of feminism is largely dependant on the individual. There is always someone out there to accommodate such. However, if you know u can't withstand it, don't stay with one as there are many fishes in the water. Last week, I and my fiancee wanted to make dinner. I got the soup materials. She had been cleaning the house b4 I arrived. She then started cooking but i noticed the work was quite much for her so I suggested I go do the pepper grinding at the next street. She declined the offer saying its not expected for a man to do that. I told her it's nothing and I can't just lay down doing nothing.
Meanwhile, there are some ladies out there that will advocate the man join him by fire by force as she isn't a slave.
That's the way it should be.. A man shouldn't fold his arms watching but should give a helping hand too

What about the ladies who lie down doing nothing nko due to laziness? How u go handle that one ooo baba cheesy

Dumb question... Stay on topic and stop taking things personal.

In case you don't know, relationships are not solely what women wants. Women wants guys that will provide for them and also one that can cook and clean the house. In have no problem with guys doing all of that but isn't that making the men a case of extreme slavery since the woman is just lie about doing nothing.

Seems like you have issues with comprehension.

My point is simply :

Find someone who wants the same things you want. How hard is that to understand?

VERDA:
My sister,in relationships, one needs to learn compromise, there is no such thing as this is who i am and can't change for anybody, change is the only constant in life except one is ready to settle for a live of constant conflict, human beings are not commodities where you go to the market and pick your taste,it is precisely cos of this we hardly see deep and lasting relationships. Most relationships fail because those going into them are always about what they want from the relationship instead of what they can give, they end up going for superficial qualities instead of compatibility, strength of character and the persons willingness to grow and be better.

Good that you posted this. Just to show that some men want to do the cooking because they like it.

Love of the action is not a gender thing, simple preference which exists in both genders.

Well I don't blame some men here, they believe it the responsibility of the ladies, which is absolutely wrong.Anybody can cook, nobody has a responsibility of cooking, cooking is more of like a choice..

When you go get new dvds tomorrow, get this one: Ratatouille.

You'll love it. I say this because of your "anyone can cook" statement.

i beg to differ. For me cooking is the role of the wife, providing for the family is that of the man, tendering for kids is also a role of the wife.
There is room for assistance in both cases even tho I am a good cook (I grew up cooking for my dad and younger ones) we shouldn't throw away our division of labor in the family due to this useless modernization, besides, do you know where mothers and daughters bond the most and gist about everything in their lives? It's in the kitchen or when they are washing clothes

It's funny how women are expected
to just know how to cook and do so
daily, but many have a hard time
breaking into the male dominated
professional chef world. When it
involves unpaid, unappreciated labor
it's a women's job, but when it is
elevated to a profession all of a
sudden women "can't hack it". Smh at
patriarchy.

I am curious as to if
heteronormative gender roles will always be
the norm. Will men always be expected to
know how to change a tire, mow the grass, and
fix a clogged sink? And will women always be
expected to cook ...?

Dude sorry to say ooo, anybody can cook according to what I believegringrin

It was never said it the responsibility of a woman to cook, rather it was our mentality..

I have been cooking for year's even when I am with my sister's,sometimes when I visit my parents I do cook even why my sis are there!

Infact my mother thought me how to cook, that alone made me to understand cooking can be done by anybody..
