It's now obvious where Beijing stands on this: It does not wish to see it's buffer state[North Korea] collapse regardless of what the West might think. Trump asked Xi of China to cut the fuel supply to the North and Xi went totally silent on him. Fact is North Korea has a firm backer in Beijing. Trump should understand that.

the US was shamefully defeated by North Korean troops with a fisted hand in the Korean war. Even without nukes the North Koreans could defeat the Americans so easily, and now that they have one of the most powerful destructive capabilities the world has yet seen, just imagine what they could do to the US if there is any justifiable cause of war.
