Nice pic. I guess their threat assessment was high....with RPG's even. Looks like 8-9 men per Hornet
Well, Libya was hot. It was quite a big deployment as there were 2 missions: escort Zuma and the AU delegation to meet Gaddaffi; evacuate non-essential embassy staff and any SA citizens who so wished.

Most of these guys aren't operators yet. Apart from the ones on Selection, the rest have passed Selection and are undergoing the 57-week Basic Training Cycle. Only when they pass this, are they operators and get assigned to Commandos, where the Advanced Training Cycle awaits.

Depends on the configuration: as a troop-carrier 8 max with 360 degree situational awareness/coverage: driver, gunner and vehicle commander in front; 2 in the middle facing outwards; 3 at the rear.

3 when it's used as a mortar/mrls/atgm platform .
Pics or it didn't happen wink

Which one do you want, Milan or Ingwe IPLS?
Just kidding...don't want to get into trouble again. They'll allow the configuration to be exhibited at some point; look how long it took them before the public could see the Scorpion Mortar System.

I was chatting to a mate at 5 Recce about the Insta account and his response was, "The Millennials have started feeding through and will drag the Brigade's media policy into the 21st century." Unofficially, some leeway on training pics - with due sensitivity - but ops pics a definite no.

First of all, American drones in Niger are not armed, they are there just for surveillance purpose. Secondly manpads are threat to low flying aircraft like helicopters and US drones can go very high and again "most but not all" US drones are equipped with IRCM and lastly our blowpipe are MCLOS operated.
MCLOS is obsolete

Could be. But then the German 2016 report would mention missiles imported for fitment to Algerian frigates. Much the same way SA companies importing stuff for their Swaziland, Botswana etc clients is reflected on the 2016 SA imports. For example, the 10 rocket launchers from the US in the 2016 SA imports were acquired by Paramount for integration for Botswana systems.

It's possible though, as I know Denel did the Algerian Umkhonto MEKO integration in Germany, as opposed to the Mokopa integration for your Super Lynx which was done in Algeria. Have a look at the German report.

Hire Arms, a veteran-owned Johannesburg company that supplies weapons to SA’s film industry, found this rare North Korean manufactured PK-style belt fed machine gun in Zimbabwe. It was found without a stock, barrel or bi-pod (those parts were added by Hire Arms when they restored it).

Watched a documentary on dogfights chronicling the intense combat over Vietnam but F-4 phantoms and MIg-2

Rate of missle loss and misfire was high on the side of the US .

The MIG basically had A lot if missiles fired at it especially AIM sidewinder

Rat pack hunting by F-4 pilots enabled them combat the faster migs as single engagement proved costly for them.

I remember reading in a book entitled New Armies from Old about post-civil war militaries that Zimbabwe received over £12 million worth of weaponry from North Korea in 1981 and 1982. Most of this apparently went to the army's then-newly established 5th Brigade.

I assume that's how this particular MG ended up there; 5th Brigade has been disbanded but surely there are other examples either still in active service or in reserve storage.
