1. it depends on what you want in the future if you want your spouse to join you in future and if you are truly married then yes state that you are married remember don't lie because of future it can affect your status later like tax of married student is more higher than single student single student are on tax 1 and married or tax 3 or 4..
2. Nop you don't need to say anything about that just tell them she is working and she as a business bla bla bla it give you upper chance as they will see you will truly come back to meet your family.

just my advice
are you saying since am married i will pay higher tax than single studen even when my family is in nigeria

Yes boss and if you are older than 30 you will pay higher insurance Sir.. but it has an advantage you can bring your wife in future even as a student and she won't have to pay 8k euro...

Scholarships are close to impossible especially when you have not started the program in Germany because the tuition is already free and give most grants to Ph.D. students. but am sure TOEFL gives you upper chance in getting admission I can remember I wrote the English text then and applied to 8 schools and 10 courses (don't mind me I was desperoate and got 7 admissions in 6 schools.

Some of us have tried more than 5 countries

From what I understand single people are actually taxed more in Germany.

Single student will be charged on tax 1 so if you earn below 950 you wont be taxed but you will only pay rentenversicherung (pension tax) which can be like 40 euro. but if you work above 950 let say a full time work like amazon they pay 1700 before tax and you will get 1200 after tax meaning you pay about 300 for tax and others for insurance and pension tax.. by the 3rd month of the next year you will apply for a tax refund and the government will pay you back your money for the excess tax.

No. That is not true. In fact married couples have tax benefit than single. Hit online and read about Germany tax system. It will be very clear to you that way. A single person will be taxed once his or her income is above 8k+ in a year while that of married will be 16k+. Do the math. Shalom

You can do family reunion irrespective of your age. But you will need to have enough fund to cover you and your family(the figure will depend on your allien office, but will be close to x2 of what you will need alone), an apartment with required size depending on the allien office. (More or less 30m square). Shalom

Chaiiii, how will this be possible in Germany ? The insurance you paid as a student has nothing to do with bringing anybody in without meeting the financial requirement as a student. It is either Letter of obligation or 8k unless the wife is not coming in with a student visa but family reunion visa. If this is the case , the insurance paid has no effect because it is for your health , the financial capability must be met by means of job contract (depending on alien office or enough money in the partner's account) either with public or private insurance / below or above 30 as far as international student from 3rd country is concerned. Shalom

Please I need various opinions and example if possible.
Is it necessary for newly weds without kids to fill married in visa application. We both got admission and want to leave same time with student visa. Note that I am still using my maiden name in my passport n all docs, We don't want anything to hinder our visa approval.
1. Is marriage a disadvantage for student visa?
2. Is it wise to say "my spouse will join me soon on student visa"?
3. Is it better to say my spouse will be in Nigeria for now.

Pls who can relate or understands my worry, what do u think?

Be straightforward and fill married including the name and address of your hubby and vice-versa. Since both address will be that of Nigeria, they might not even find out until days after the interview or during your hubby interview provided they will. They might ask from your hubby who and how he will be taking care of his wife while he is away. At this point, wisdom is needed in answering the question. Then don't let your interview fall on the same day, I think that will settle it. Ordinarily, they shouldn't have problem with it so far you both have the required means of sustenance, it is not against the law of Germany. NOTE: If you fill single, remember your marriage certificate is with a date already and for you to come together officially in Germany as husband and wife , you will need it. What happens if they detect the anomalies in the date compare to your info during interview ? Shalom

Studentwerk is the best and first point of call. You can also check online for NGO student hostels in the city. Getting accommodation from other source while you still in Nigeria without having a friend in the city is difficult. Because you will need to visit the apartment, sign the contract before payment if you are using private path like wg-gesucth, e-bay, immobillien and so on. But we have some non governmental organisation student hostels in some of the cities, they act like studentwerk too. There is "house of nation" in Berlin. You can get an apartment with them and pay before you enter Germany, but it is expensive. Make Internet your friend , and you will be surprised on the result. Shalom

Morning people, I have been trying to get a spouse long-term visa appointment at the German embassy for some weeks now but it shows nothing available since November up till February.

Is this normal?
If you've had one recently, how did you book the appointment?

Thanks.

I am not currently studying but will join my peeps this Summer 2018. Concerning scholarship any school that accept English proficiency can also Grant you scholarship with it, unless the scholarship program is not regulated by their own board.

Thank you sir, I have a letter of English proficiency from my school, just Want to know if writing TOEFL will increase my chances of getting a scholarship because U.S schools consider tests like this to award scholarship. Are u currently studying in Germany sir?

Adding to this..

For tax class III (MARRIED), husband and wife should be registered and living in Germany. If the spouse is living outside Germany then Tax Class I (SINGLE) will be applicable.

I was once in your situation till I finally got a date. They do add dates regularly at midnight. You just have to be alert and check it everyday

What of situation where you are a married and your wife and baby lives in Belgium while the husband lives inn Nigeria. Won't the German embassy feels that the man is trying to use that medium as an escape route to join his family ,whereas the true intention is to study in Germany and also have the advantage to see your family whenever you wish. House what did you advice in this case?
