The Algerians have every reason to highlight their sailing ship! There was a time when we Saffers had the only African Navy sailing ship and mentioning it here was anathema (that's how long I've been here). I'm immensely pleased another African Navy has taken up the baton, and the negative reactions have disappeared.

Couldn't find anything about it on the net, is it still in service?

Zuma in Burundi with Recce protection

I find it very interesting when Statesmen do this. Zuma has the Counter-Assault unit as was as the PPU to call on, both are para-military and both could certainly handle the threats one would likely face in Burundi.

Misuse!!!!! rumours some people* used to guard a homestead.

Why not just better equip the PPU's CAT alpha team. Heavy retractable weapons similar to the Dillon convoy escort vehicle or the Meerkat system on a civilian vehicle. And leave the SF to handle strategic needs.

Special forces are trained to a far different level that is needed for a external deployment. Hence they where used. Police are not trained to fight armies.

here the official contract with details in the pic

effective date of contract : september 17 , 2013
prelimnary designe review : december 30, 2013
Critical design review : April 30 , 2014
Satellite assembly : February 28, 2015
Launch : january 31, 2016

the launch was reported because Long March 3B launcher had problems during the launch of ChinaSat-9A , the third stage suffered an issue, resulting in the satellite being placed in the wrong orbit. so Algerian said report until you are 100% sur they will be no problem
