The goalkeeping position is not one to be toiled with.

It is not like an out field position where you have more room for experiments.

This is the Senior World Cup where the best all over the world play against each other.

A world cup goalkeeper especially if he is first choice must be one that has been tested and proven.

A 45mins friendly game may be enough to have a conclusion on an out field player but not a Goal keeper. Even Ezenwa with all his heroics against Cameroon, Zambia and Algeria can be said not to be tested enough even though the only goals he conceded in all 4 games were penalties. His down side was that he showed lack of composure and positional abilities. You now place more confidence on a rookie that played only 45mins of which the Argentines only had 1 shot at goal.

I have said it and I will still say it that, in the absence of Enyeama, I would rather make Ezenwa first choice rather than Uzoho.

Just finished watching the Nigeria vs Argentina game, our defensive play was like music, well structured and executed.

Noticed in the first half the Argentines full back were making the play with macherano making looping passes with them finding space behind us,to counter that when they build from behind, we had 3-2-5 shape with the front three pressing the center backs.
They move the ball to the midfield, one drops from the front three to the midfield with Kc and iwobi not dropping too deep for an outlet for counter attacks.

I like the way we play without the ball and I think aside the coach getting more <b>Needed</b> personel he can work on getting the best out of the guys he has now.

And our passing accuracy should improve.

My people, I think we are starting to put to much pressure on our team, we have not played up to 20 games under gernot, we are not yet there as a team, but the signs are so positive so far.
Risk taking is something Iv noticed a lot of Nigerians dread, my brothers inspire confidence in uzoho , alampasu, Ajiboye and nwokolor and they will perform wonders in the World Cup. Experience is grossly overrated with few Peeps here. Experience or just talent dosent run football anymore instead determination and team work does. why can't we just trust our young players more? Besides let's not get carried away and know we are on a rebuilding process. Placing semi final as a target is just so unrealistic, we are good but not there yet.

He's seems like a drama queen he needs to put the needs of his country first, he's not playing for nnf he's playing for we Nigerians who bless and pray for him for the joy he has brought us, besides what has he gone through that komenk so likes pointing out that OBI mikel has not with the federation? but it's the love and passion that matters. which I feel vincent has lost. whatever his decision I'm not worried a bit.
For a team to be successful in any competition player power cannot be tolerated. He might feel entitled to have privileges maybe coz of what he has done for Nigeria in the past, but he has to behave more like a professional and not blow up at everything the NNF did to him.
He didn't blow up when he was discarded by bielsa, so If he can treat a team coach with respect he had to show that kinda respect for the national team. forget Europe the SE made enyeama the player he is today. Don't want to judge since nothing is certain.
Sincerely I don't feel we desperately need enyeama, guys need to wake up and see that this is 21century football, young players have no respect atall, all of em are hungry and want to be the best, you think the Milan 18 year old keeper would not have started manning the post for us for about two years if he were to be Nigerian. At age 16 so why can't uzoho and co. Do it.

I'm glad we all saw the end of the year with success. You peeps here are amazing. And this is the thread with the most matured, humble and a bit myopic people on nairaland.

The boy is good on the ball, loves to play the ball a lot, he's not easily dispossessed, I haven't seen him play at the defense before. You can watch one of his games at Granada when he played against Barca last year. He practically marked Messi out.

Enyeama is a veteran of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The best goalie to ever stand between the sticks for us. He is a great icon of that goal keeping position.

Which ever way you look at it he is a father figure.And definitely will be well respected.

Do you know that Enyeama personally called Akpeyi after the Argentina match to encourage him. Do you know that? Who does such a thing if not a man whose heart is that of a father or at least a big brother. Have you not read his tweets congratulating the team most times while carefully put it across in such a way that it would not look like he's grovelling? (Efe Ambrose also tweets showing he is following the team) How can you say all these things when you have not spoken to Enyeama and yet find it so easy to judge the man and the situation ever so scathingly? Joe is a grown ass man, he can do whatever the hell he wants, any where he wants online, we're not his parents. Just so that when he comes into this thread he takes off whatever cloak he puts on in other threads, we're cool.
