That's not the point. My point is that friendly match against England at this time doesn't serve us well. None of the teams we're facing in Russia plays similar style with England. We should be scheduling friendly matches against teams that are similar in style to Croatia, Iceland, and Argentina.

O pari

We are preparing beyond the group stage, not just the teams in our group. We are optimistic we will qualify and our boys need to be on a roller coaster with super high confidence against ANY team.

Nevertheless, We have played Argentina, we know what to expect and Rohr is talking about Poland and Serbia for Croatia and Iceland.

So England is welcome.

Questence.

You dey mind him?

What percentage of the Nigerian population has access to the internet?

Actually, Nigeria Internet population is more than Egypt..and in fact 47% of Nigerians have access to the internet as opposed to Egypt's 39%....
But like you said, the Egyptians are more crazy about their local clubs than Nigerians and they hold their players in very high esteem..
You can't blame Nigerians for not being patriotic enough... Our league has failed to improve since inception and our huge export of players abroad is what's sustaining our national team...

Bro, are you on twitter and Facebook? Because there was an all out campaign for VicMo on both websites. gosh, even the Chelsea twitter account was promoting VicMo and urging people to vote for him. The NFF, many Super Eagles players on twitter, and even the NFF sef.

I honestly thought that VicMo had it in the bag.

O pari

I knew it will be difficult. Once Al-alhy fans alone take up the case, Salah would be in the lead. Not forgetting votes from all over Africa.

Mujtahida:

It makes no sense in the context of our group opponents to play England. Moreover June is kinda close to the WC. Make I no hear say one player was injured in that match oo.

How can you say it makes no sense playing England when there are two European oppositions in our group?

These friendly preparations are not exactly like 1+1= 2. No two countries play exactly the same way. Even the Poland that we are playing for Croatia don't really play much like the Croats. It is because they have Senegal to play that they have quickly sealed the deal with Nigeria. The teams that play like Croatia most are their former Yugoslav neighbours like Serbia and Bosnia. Plus even Czech republic.

All those talks of playing Denmark for Iceland doesn't hold much water because Denmark and Iceland do not really play alike. Playing any European opposition eg England for Iceland would be OK abeg.

Besides if we qualify from that group we will LIKELY play either of France or Denmark which are also European oppositions.

So bros the England friendly is not out of place.

Good point. I think voters from other parts of Africa would tip the scale. For some reasons, Nigeria is not well liked by many other African countries.

So we are preparing beyond the group stage already? OK ... but while we're preparing beyond the group stage, let's ensure that we are prepared for the group stage as well. Or else, what happened to us in 1998 World Cup, when we were busy preparing for Brazil in the quarter finals only for Denmark to shock us in the round of 16, would repeat itself. I hope not.

I mentioned earlier that Egypt is a high pressing team like the Croats and argies . ..

Their playing style is similar to that of our European counterparts. .

Can u imagine, I once got into an hour long argument with some Zimbabweans about football sometimes ago simply because we failed to qualify for d last AFCON which they did...grin grin
Maybe its due to our bad image abroad or some folks just have something against Nigerians in their country

I do not agree that they fit into the style of any of our opponents.

I actually think that they will probably be more helpful for the Iceland game because Egypt are hard to break down.

Egypt is one of those North African teams that play a style close to that of the Europeans.

But have you also asked what it will benefit Egypt playing Nigeria?

Besides if we expect to go far in the world cup we should expect to play against teams different from those we will play in our group.
So we shouldn't just narrow our friendlies to a few group of teams.

It is a good warm-up game but it holds little value for our group opponents.
