That's the correct mindset. At least in 9ja u have the priceless advantage of being in your own country, on the ground, settled. Any other place u r "that foreigner" - an outsider with an accent.
I was in a vehicle with some foreigners last time somewhere in akwa ibom, we were stopped by some immigration officers who after frisking through the vehicle, identified the foreigners because they couldn't answer the simple question about our state and LG put to us . They were asked to alight , while I sat back like a king.

The feeling was priceless and that can only happen to me in Nigeria.

My accent does not sound different here.

I can fight for Nigeria- trust me.

Exactly. And u can complain and rant as loud as u wish about any perceived problems in the country. Any other place u can't complain too loudly or you'd be asked "why don't u go back to your own country?"

this is acerbic and could surely break me down.

I saw one documentary about a Sudanese refugee or an asylum seeker in Israel, and I increased my love for Nigeria even more.

It was like the whole community came out to tell him to leave their country. Every white person out there wanted him out- and he was helpless and lacked what to say to them.

I thank God for Nigeria.

I heard most of your colleagues are leaving Nigeria. Any such plans on your radar?

Nothing like home, unless it is a total war zone.
Oh, me? I go and come as I wish, one of the lucky few.

I'm always in both places. There is no comparison whatsoever but home is home.
Example: they are now talking about passing a law whereby a police officer who stops or searchs u, besides having probable cause, must also give u a business card with all his info and his station info. Compare to our NPF.

Some day, we will get there

In one place the cops have body cameras to record their interaction with u and give u a business card after the interaction. In the other place the cops force u to an atm to withdraw money to bribe them. Seriously, how do u compare the two?

I haven't been there, but I believe the term DIRTY COP. is a phrase coined by the Americans.

If they were DAT gud, they wouldn't need camera's on dem.

The thing is, they are trying to put measures on ground that will stop police harassment and brutality.

Nigeria will get there someday.

I would like to believe so, except that shodiness seems to be systemic in 9ja - something we have accepted as the norm, with signs of retrogression not improvement.
Example, what they call DIRTY COP there and would make a very big deal about is the average bribe-taking 9ja cop here that no one even notices.
Also the dirtiness is confined to one police precinct among thousands and not contaminate the rest. Which is why it is a good idea to break up NPF.

Here is a recent front page headline:

Man Takes His Son To The Hospital In A Wheelbarrow In Imo State (Photos)
(The child was in an accident.)

It's our country. We have to face it. We just shouldn't be trying to compare it to a place where 3 top-notch ambulances and 2 police cars will be there within 5 minutes to treat the child on the scene then take him to the nearest hospital emergency room, where, by law, they MUST accept him.

Do you believe in these voodoo rituals? As long as he doesn't murder anyone he can play pretend with his friends. Those rituals won't substitute getting off but working.

I believe about .00001% of what's out there is "real" (the rest is fake). "Real" in the sense that some extremely wealthy people or entities make some of their money "magically" appear in the ownership of someone who does some stupid thing they command like eating shit.
