mikolo80: You can't create credit or car rental without a highly reliable personal identification method and s highly reliable method of keeping track of a person's repayment history. By the way I have updated the list: 1) rampant corruption everywhere 2) corrupt politicians 3) corrupt police 4) SARS 5) ritualists, 6) kidnappers, 7) conmen, yahoo boys, 9) brazen robbers, 10) Boko Haram, 11) IPOB, 12) Delta Avengers, 13) baby factories, 14) child molesters, 15) child snatchers 16)human traffickers, 17) poor power supply, 18) ridiculous hospitals, 19) doctor strikes 20) poor schools, universities 21) poor infrastructure, 22) poor water supply, 23) poor waste disposal, 24) poor drainage system, 25) poor building inspection, 26) collapsing buildings, 27) dillapidated housing, 28) poor drug inspection, 29) poor food inspection, 30) poor environmentals 31) corrupt clearing and forwarding, 32) corrupt customs, 33) no mental healthcare 34) no provisions for handicapped people 35) corrupt legal system, 36) corrupt judiciary, 37) poor banking system, long lines 38) poor and corrupt monetary system (black market) 39) Fulani herdsmen 40) military 41) aviation in general 42) MM Airport, Ikeja 43) Filthy and congested seaports (Apapa) 44) rampant strikes 45) fake everything 46) intermittent fuel scarcity 47) generator fumes and noise 48) corrupt FRSC 49) road blocks 50) Non-existent planned public transportation 51) fires and deaths from power surges 52) deaths from unsafe roads 53) In case of fire, long waits for poor response 54) In case of crime, long waits for police response 55) long waits for poorly equipped ambulances 56) very poor emergency healthcare 57) ineffective drug prescription system 58) totally corrupt govt bureaucracy 59) very poor public healthcare sector 60) poor crime investigation process 61) poor forensics 62) poor record-keeping process 63) poor and fraud-susceptible personal identification 64) non-availability of student loans and work-study 65) non-existent credit system 66) non-existent car rental system 67) fraud-prone real estate - "this house is not for sale" 68) no substantial recompense for death or injury due to govt or police mistake or negligence 69) rampant jungle justice, sometimes on innocent people (could be u) 70) extremely high unemployment rate |

mikolo80: Try it in America. You have 99.9% of going to jail. In 9ja 0% - even if caught u bribe the judge. He will dismiss the case and seriously warn the prosecutor, depending on how much bribe u gave him. 1 Like |

9jaDoc:that's what you've been made to believe. make the bribe fat enough and you'll get away with it. same with Nigeria improve the economy and salaries and corruption will go down |
Re: List Of Nigerian Ills And How To Solve Them by 9jaDoc(f): 11:16pm On Dec 09, 2017 |
mikolo80: Why do u folks like deceiving yourselves? Here's the deal: In US the average person won't even think of trying to obtain a fake passport because they know it is next to impossible. In Nigeria u can only expedite your passport by paying the tout outside the passport office and giving him your documents. 2 Likes |
Re: List Of Nigerian Ills And How To Solve Them by mikolo80: 11:21pm On Dec 09, 2017 |
9jaDoc:that's what I thought till I learnt you can get fake documents if you really want them. no system is infallible once humans are involved stop deceiving yourself. In America the state is the tout and you pay for services just as we pay third party in Nigeria.one is pre paid the other is post paid 1 Like |
Re: List Of Nigerian Ills And How To Solve Them by 9jaDoc(f): 11:31pm On Dec 09, 2017 |
mikolo80: Listen, if u can easily obtain authentic documents in US as u can in 9ja, you'd be a dollar billionaire. Do u know how many cars you can obtain with just one set of documents. Do know how many bank credits, cell phones, even mortgages. Not to talk if collecting other people's tax returns, benefits and entitlements. Then credit cards, store cards, fuel cards, online accounts like PayPal, etc. Be serious |

Re: List Of Nigerian Ills And How To Solve Them by 9jaDoc(f): 12:42am On Dec 10, 2017 |
mikolo80: Oh, nothing is impossible. The question is what are the chances of being caught and what are the chances of avoiding jail if caught. In 9ja the chances are excellent if u have money. In US the chances of u bribing the judge and avoiding jail are near zero. |

mikolo80: There are people always trying to compare the two countries when there is no comparison. Yeah, it took them time but I don't think 9ja will ever get there unless they do something really drastic, like scrapping the whole NPF for starters. |
Re: List Of Nigerian Ills And How To Solve Them by mikolo80: 1:18am On Dec 10, 2017 |
9jaDoc:you can't scrap an important institution like the police.even though I'd also wish we could. just look what happened when we recruited 300,000 new inexperienced policemen under obj. it just doesn't work. you have to retrain the majority and change mainly the leadership and worst eggs. we just need more dedicated leaders for everything. it only takes one good guy, just one. ask Singapore or Malaysia or Korea even Taiwan I have a composite strategy using these countries' templates 1 Like |

Re: List Of Nigerian Ills And How To Solve Them by 9jaDoc(f): 1:55am On Dec 10, 2017 |
mikolo80: Corruption is embedded in the soul and fabric of NPF. It needs total overhaul like breaking up into smaller more manageable units. By the way the legal system and judiciary too. |

Half list boils down strong institutions and better law enforcement. The ither half is economics. Specifics would take to long so I'll take crack at a few. Solution: Local government and state government development with increased taxes. (Cities and Counties handle this in USA) 22) poor water supply, 23) poor waste disposal, 24) poor drainage system, Solution: Local Government code enforcement. 25) poor building inspection, 26) collapsing buildings, 27) dillapidated housing, 28) poor drug inspection, 29) poor food inspection, 30) poor environmentals Solution: better regulations and enforcement. 62) poor record-keeping process 63) poor and fraud-susceptible personal identification Solution: private credit beaures need to track Information. Student loans private matter. Lenders don't work for free. 64) non-availability of student loans and work-study 65) non-existent credit system Solution: rule of law and probably more car tracking software. (My ex car had tracker in it) 66) non-existent car rental system 67) fraud-prone real estate - "this house is not for sale" 3 Likes 2 Shares |

mikolo80: U know, I kind of agree with you. I sometimes feel the whole Nigeria project needs to be scrapped and built up again from ground up. Or just replaced with something else. I sometimes feel we have to admit to ourselves that the Nigeria experiment has failed and start working to replace it with something else. |
