Bro, were you able to get alternate insurance to reduce the insurance cost? Most schools insurance cost is always high, I need to get a way around it. Any info would be appreciated.
Fall 2018 hopeful.

Alternate insurance is 'impossible' in the Texas a&m system, you Must pay except you are a US citizen or permanent resident and your parents/family does one that covers you.
This can allow you apply for a waiver from our cut throat insurance. The one for Spring is around $1k.

3 courses for a semester? Na wah, when lecturers dey kill us with 11 irrelevant and outdated courses here.
Why person no go make distinction?
Wishing you the very best

Toppytek:
I'll be offering nothing less than 11 and 10 courses first and second semester in my final year (500 level).

I did 5 or 6 in my naija final year. Guy na suffer be this una case... angry

The current Msc courses I took and will be taking are Very applicable in the real world.
I studied to learn and a lot of learning I did, the grades are just an icing to the knowledge gained. smiley

About getting a dsitinction, my brother people still deh jonse wella ooo.
A couple of people I know have lost their part tuition waiver because they could not maintain a 3.25/4.00.

For example, this semester is 3 courses. All B's = 3.00
2 A's and 1 B = 3.67
1 A and 2 B's = 3.33

People still deh miss am, then school fees of $3400 suddenly turns $7000+ embarassed cry

Bros, do you "automatically" get tuition waiver when you secure admission?

If not, what are the chances??

It isn't automatic...

I know it is not tied solely to test scores and GPA too.

About chances... Nothing in this life is certain, put in your best application package and watch how it goes.

A friend applied here for I think 5years with the same everything.
Was denied four times, he applied again with same everything before the GRE expired and was offered a tuition waiver together with his admission.

Hey @mackynaija! Been following this thread for a while and i must say "nice write-ups " grin.
About your instate tuition, did you get information on it together with your admission letter or was it in a separate letter.
I just got a congratulatory email today for industrial engineering but nothing on funding.

Congratulations on your admission.
The tuition waiver came within a week of receiving the admission.
Remain hopeful, they usually award it to people with good profiles coming in for the thesis option.

bruv you too gbaski. keep hitting the A back-2-back.
i got a few questions though, since your school doesn't require external evaluation (WES), any ideas on they end up classifying/grading the CGPA thing while applying for graduate studies.taking into consideration our own over 5-scale.thanks

I think they look at your raw grades to see how well you did in your undergraduate courses that relate to your current program of interest.

I also feel much emphasis is placed on your final 4 semesters, the graduate school collects your documents, creates a file and forwards to your department where they review it and recommend you for admission to the grad school.

If graduate school accepts, they then admit you into the graduate school/your program and possibly give you a tuition waiver.
A friend works in the graduate school, na CIA things - top secret - he isn't allowed to discuss much.
