I remember taking with one of cousin that attend UNIZIK came out with 2¹ in Business Administration, very intelligent girl.
I wanted her to help guide me through on starting a new project.

I later found out I knew more about real life Business in the ratio of 5:1 than her.

I was disappointed.

OP, you think education is what makes a business successful? ..there is no standard or assurance that your level of education will take your business to lofty heights, what you only need to succeed in any business is focus and flexibility with ideas

So, this write up is a big fallacy to me and its borne out of a converse Generalization. I have seen educated people that are successful business wise. OP, wait a sec, what do you think most uneducated people will venture into if not for business.. so there is a high number of non-educated fellow going into business and Dats why it's more pronounced compared to educated fellows that have a wide array of opportunities to them. Starting up a business is not a priority, when you are educated

Don't look at it that way. Education is important. It's certification that's a scam. Ordinary, in organised societies, you do not need a Master's degree if you're not interested in pursuing career in academics. Today, unemployment is making people to go for 2nd degrees they do not have need of.

Someone had already given a succinct and apt response to this overflogged debate.....To ease your stress of scrolling up, he said the assertion holds water because we live in a third world country where human needs are basic...food, drinks, transportation etc.

What you just did up there is fallacy of composition, in Canada what gives you more money is the menial work you guys do in naija...plumbing, welding, electrician (informal education) etc but to get better pay you have to get several certificates to back it up (formal education)

Now that's brutal but honest.

The major key to success in business or indeed any other endeavour in life is FOCUS. The reason a businessman would be successful is because he focuses on one thing only, business. He has burnt every other bridge behind him and has no other place to go. The formally educated might never take the kind of risks the informally educated business person would because his pysche still regards that certificate as an insurance. Such a person would have the mindset of 'If business doesnt bloom, i can always do a masters, do a PhD, i can always diverify' E.t.c, a lack of focus.
