Konquest: @Konquest Sir, you are wrong. Once you register with ICAN, you automatically become a MEMBER. You might never wish to take any of the ICAN professional exam, you will still be a MEMBER once you are paying your membership due. This applies to any professional association. For you to be CHARTERED, you must have sat and passed ALL the ICAN professional exams. I hope you get to see the difference sir. Just for your information, Ooni of ife attended The Polytechnic, Ibadan . 1 Like 1 Share |

humility from the ooni.. Ooni as the custodian of Yoruba culture and Tradition. must desist from this fragrant uncharacteristic mannerism which is tantamount to desecration of Yoruba egalitarian authority. Someone somewhere have to train the new Ooni how to be one lijke the likes of Ooni Adetunji Aderemi of blessed memory and other greats before him. A point of correction the Subjecs (Yoruba People) must be humble not the Ooni who must be seen to wield unquestionable Authority by virtue of the office he occupies. Humility ko humble ni. 1 Like |

@9jadoc Why are you sounding so uneducated?. You can be a member without being chartered. Not all members are chartered but they can be if they decide to sit and pass the professional exam. I refer you to ICAN website stated below and read the conditions to become a member. I have copied it out for u to read: http://icanig.org/ican/article.php?id=17 NOTE: Only qualified candidates who have relevant accounting related working experience should apply for the membership of the Institute in line with the period stated below: Graduates of Accounting 36 Months Graduates of other Disciplines 48 Months AAT 48 Months Contact ‘membership@ican.org.ng’ or call 01-4542097 for further enquiry **In summary being a member DOES NOT mean you are CHARTERED. OONI of ife is NOT a Chartered Accountant. QED |

baysol: Yoruba people are the custodians of. Yoruba customs, culture and tradition not any Ooni. An institution used to subjugate and claim superiority over your ancestors should not be an institution u r championing. You should instead be calling for it's abolition. |

J 9jaDoc: @9jaDoc, You have only succeeded in supporting what I just explained to you. Register first to become a member. Then take the exam to become CHARTERED. It's that simple. I assume you have not been a member of any professional body before, so this is becoming too complex for you to understand. 1 Like 1 Share |

9jaDoc: Obviously you are a typical Nigerian that will not accept being wrong because you feel it disparages you. Continue in your ignorance till you disgrace your future generation. For individuals that are willing to learn and open minded, you only APPLY to be ICAN MEMBER and your course must not necessarily be accounting-related. For you to be CHARTERED, you need to sit and pass ICAN professional exams. YOU DO NOT APPLY TO BE CHARTERED, you sit and PASS relevant exams. Ooni of Ife is a MEMBER of ICAN but NOT a CHARTERED Accountant. I am out..... |

MT:^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^ @MT Yes... thanks for the ICAN clarifications info. It seems like YOU know the Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi personally for you to know that he is NOT a "chartered account." This is taking into consideration that he read "accounting" and graduated from "The Polytechnic in Ibadan": http://www.polyibadan.edu.ng/ In his profile that I read when he first became the King in 2015, it was indicated that the Ooni of Ife read accounting and graduated from "The Polytechnic in Ibadan" in 2002 just as YOU rightly stated, so I just automatically assumed that he would have done all his professional exams. "He is a member of several professional bodies, which include; Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), an Associate Accounting Technician and a certified member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria as well as Global Real Estate Institute (GRI)." Read more: http://thenationonlineng.net/why-prince-ogunwusi-deserves-ooni-of-ife-title/ I actually knew him as far back as 2002/2003 when he and a group of business people brought Association for International Business[AIB] to Nigeria. He was then known with the appellation of "Mr." and NOT "Prince" even right up to 2015 as the CEO of "Gran Imperio Group," he was still known as Mr. Adeyeye Ogunwusi, which "probably" shows his humility by not wanting to identify as an Ife Prince in his official correspondences with the media. The ONLY thing I wasn't too pleased with him [Ooni] for is when he went to Imo State in late 2017 and offered on live TV to visit and speak to the leader of the proscribed group led by Nnamdi. I felt it was politically incorrect for him to mediate in what doesn't concern him and his people. And those guys would have used it for propaganda and to massage their egos on YouTube that a "whole King of the Yoruba" came to Umuahia to "bow down" for Kanu!" Thanks again and have a great week ahead! PS: Chartered accountants There is a big difference between an "accountant" and a "chartered accountant." Technically, and rather amazingly, anyone can call themselves an accountant regardless of what licensing or education they have. A "chartered" accountant however must be a current member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of either England & Wales, or Scotland, or Ireland. These organisations will only allow membership after a series of examinations have been passed and after the applicant has achieved the required amount of working experience to meet the criteria for membership. Essentially, when you choose a chartered accountant, you have the reassurance that you will be working with an accountant with a high baseline of experience and certification, and who will be able to help you determine the best course of action whatever your financial situation and needs. So, choose a chartered accountant like Frost & Company, for the assurance that your financial matters will be handled correctly and competently.
