Who told you that the Ooni isn't a billionaire too? He is a rich man.

Culture is not about money. Bill Gates will bow before the queen of England, Warren Buffet will bow before the queen of England, Obama?trump will bow before the queen of England etc etc. The queen will never bend to shake you. Even the white man that all you mentally enslaved Nigerians like to copy respect and preserve their traditions.

This is about respecting institutions unfortunately the person who currently sits on the throne is conducting himself in such a way that it is difficult for people to respect him. As they say he is bringing his throne into disrepute.

Anyway ive said enough, those who understand, understand and those who were brought up without culture will keep on arguing.

The Queen will not behave like that that is why she is still respected. This Ooni has been an embarrassment from day 1. Starting from the wife he chose, then kneeling down in church (Ooni is the custodian of Ifa religion, it's it's not your cup of tea, then dont be King), performing rituals on a commercial plane (yeah the same man who says Jesus is his lord and saviour) , visiting Obiano in his personal house and now this the list goes on and on. The man does not seem to understand the office or throne he sits on and his responsibilities. The throne is definitely bigger than him, nobody seems to take him seriously.

I know why you are angry. Sorry

you are a fool, is the Queen bending like Ooni? it is because you are clearly a commoner and not well schooled that you do not understand protocols. Seating or standing, royalty does not reach forward to greet, that goes for any proper King anywhere in the world.

If you notice Michelle Obama is slightly bowed, the queen is straight. In the case of Ooni from the pic you can see that he is clearly reaching out to shake Otedola because his back is arched well forward. Royalty does not bend to greet, it is undignifying and against protocol whether in the west, the east or Africal!!

Like I said waste of time, those who understand understand and those who are not well schooled or without proper training will continue to argue

The current Ooni of Ife is an multimillionaire
International Businessman and a chartered
accountant with heavy investments in property/real
estates in Lekki/Ajah axis of Lagos, Ogun, and the State of Osun. He owns Inagbe Grand Resort,
in Lagos, Furniture manufacturing company
and more in his group of companies.

He and other entrepreneurs introduced the Association of International Business
[AIB] in 2002/2003 into Nigeria and he made effective
use of it. I never knew he was from a Royal
family and would become the Ooni in the
future because he used to use Mr. and not
Prince as his title.

He is not a poor man as suggested in your
post. Yes he may be 43 years old
as of 2017 but he has achieved what people
older than him have not been able to achieve
in terms of wealth and touching the lives
of people.

I do not see anything wrong with the way
he shook hands with Otedola. When Otedola
who is an Ijebu man from Epe gets to the Palace
in Ile Ife, he would prostrate just like General
Olusegun Obasanjo did in the full glare
of press cameras when he visited Ooni Adeyeye
Ogunwusi.

All the best.

I was saying this same thing that has become a topic on a previous thread and some locos were bashing me. On top of that sef, the man he is using his both hands to shake while the said man is offering just only one hand has done nothing of repute to the country. As a matter of fact he has been known to have bribed and blackmailed a government official. Someone is then preaching humility as the reason?

Tradition and culture is not about moving with the times. It is about preserving the traditions and history by which he became King. If we are moving with the times, then why bother having them after all they have no real powers? A Nigerian King needs permission from the chairman of his local govt before he can leave his domain. The whole point of retaining these Obas is the preservation of culture and tradition and this Ooni is an embarrassment to all yorubas.

if he wants to be King of the English ways, then we might as well scrap his obaship because there is only One Queen of England. He is a yoruba King and he should behave as such.

You retain tradition and culture that fits your purpose. Either u aim to have an egalitarian, democratic society or u don't. The English would have scrapped the monarchy long ago if it wasn't for the tourist dollars it rains in. Even despite that a sizable portion of the English want it scrapped. This guy understands the transformation necessary to avoid the total ridiculousness of an anachronistic institution that outlived it's purpose long ago.

Like i always say, it is the uneducated/poorly educated, docile, uninformed, corrupt, imbecilic electorate/subjects that legitimizes the reign of misfits in public office, both Royal(in this instance) and elected political office holders. the same reason why you see nothing wrong is the same reason certain people were dancing when Ibori was released from prison. You people dont know any better and unfortunately for those of us who do, there are more of you than us and in a democracy the moronic majority will have it's way and thus prolong and entrench the reign of misfits in all facets of our public life.

Like I said the point of preserving royal institutions is for the preservation of culture, when you regularly act in a manner that does not preserve the culture or is not representative of the culture, we might as well scrap your office. because what he is projecting is the not yoruba culture...He is not just an ordinary Yoruba Oba. There are descendants of slavese in Haiti, Brazil, Cuba who are more in tune with yoruba culture and guarded it religiously and who are better ambassadors of yoruba culture than this Oba.
