Enquiries About Fedex Clearance by Ayomideen(m): 10:38am On Dec 20, 2017
Good day Nairalanders

I was recently sent an Iphone8 from the U.S through FedEx and I was called by a FedEx employee this morning who requested for my Air waybill code and Answer to the security question after he confirmed I was the one on the phone,he then later told me I had to pay #11,300 Naira for the customs import duty fee and said I have to pay within three days or else the package will be returned.I haven't used FedEx before so I don't know how it works, made some research on their site and found out that the import duty payment duty thingy was real.
So,anyone who has used the service before, can you enlighten me more as I'm not satisfied with the little info I got on their site.
Thanks

Mods please help me move this to the right section if this is the wrong one.

First of all searching the number that called you to know if it links to FedEx.

Did you buy this phone personal or somebody sent to you as a gift?

Why not visit their office personal to find out?

The dude called me,asked if he was speaking to Mr(my full name) and said he is Mr(his name) from FedEx Nigeria

It didn't seem like a scam cos of some "stuffs"

I'll share a screenshot of a mail I received that doesn't point to it being a scam

Its a gift,I didn't buy it

Thing is,no time to visit their office, that's why I'm trying to make the necessary researches online

If somebody you know very well sent you a gift he/her will not make you pay for the import duty, if this is gift from an online friend then be careful before paying the so called import duty.

knowing your name or telling you his name means absolutely nothing.

Pay if you knew the person that sent it personally

You welcome boss

I'd suggest he tries to find out the cost from multiple sources
DHL and the likes also and then settle for the cheapest
