Stephandeswardt:Bad day to be a Boko. That M16 rifle pics just go to prove that BHT is indeed receiving significant support from terrorist organization in the Middle east. |

www.nairaland.com/attachments/6439192_fbimg1513774717818_jpegaaaf081bb544e55d0d3a358301dd136e Not underestimating the nuisance armed Hostiles may pose especially if active over a wide geographic area, however, nearly every time, we are shown Desperado Bandit-like weapons recovered. What would the the Terrorists be like if broadly better armed? By many indicators, Nigeria Military need major re-equipping, no excuses required. Proof of purchase is plenty justification especially in a situation where, engaged in hot war, military requests it. . |

Stephandeswardt:Perhaps, it came all the way from Iraq. ISIS looted their armoury seizing a significant amount of American made weapons, enough to sustain an army for years. |

Odunayaw: Indeed and perhaps, after reading the quoted on BBC (visit link for context) better weapons may be at hand for some Boko elements , Headsmen and the rest : According to government figures, there are about 400 private groups which employ around 450,000 people, but only 33,000 police officers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-africa-42420468 |

Odunayaw: i guess since these weapons pour into Ghana over a period of time it would be more accurate to suggest that it likely represents terrorists with another source /opportunity. In addition, it makes sense to assume from this report that something like this is replicated all over West Africa. I've only sat up in this instance because, unlike the majority of Nigerians,it seems,I've never trusted the Ghana/Ghanaian mentality pertinent to Nigeria/ Nigerians interest. That's just me, I'm sorry. |

SupremeCourt: Well, the T-72 is designed to take a beating. But I'm inclined to side with you, my reasons being that there are only a few T-72s in theatre, therefore the rate of wear & tear on these machines will probably be much higher as they're probably the main armoured workhorse against BH. |

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE OFFICER BAGS COMMANDANT’S AWARD AT NAVAL WAR COLLEGE A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) officer, Group Captain David Babalola recently bagged the Commandant's Award for the Best Research Paper during the graduation ceremony held for the first set of participants of the Naval Warfare Course at the Naval War College Nigeria. The award winning research paper is titled 'Health Care Delivery and Human Security: An Assessment of the National Health Insurance Scheme in the NAF'. Group Captain Babalola also received the Chief of the Naval Staff's Award for emerging as the Second Best participant on the Naval Warfare Course. The NAF officer received both awards during the College’s first graduation ceremony, which was held on 15 December 2017 at the College premises in Ubima, Rivers State. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Abayomi Olonisakin, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the graduation ceremony, tasked the graduating participants to bring to bear the knowledge they had acquired in the new responsibilities that would be assigned to them in their respective Services. In addition, the CDS acknowledged the continued support of President Muhammadu Buhari to the Armed Forces of Nigeria. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, was represented at the occasion by Air Vice Marshal Stephen Onuh, who is the Air Officer Commanding Mobility Command of the NAF. Participants of Naval Warfare Course 1 were made up of 12 officers from the Nigerian Navy in addition to one Nigerian Army and two from the NAF. The participation of two NAF officers in the Naval Warfare Course is in line with the CAS Vision, which focuses on inter-Service cooperation as one of its key drivers. The performance of the award-winning NAF officer during the Course is in keeping with the excellent tradition for which the NAF is renowned. Besides, it is seen as an attestation of the fact that the efforts of the CAS to promote excellence among NAF personnel are yielding fruits. DOPRI |
