To those commenting above, the price of fuel on the international market has increased and most of the products are imported so there is need to subsidize the products in order not to cause hardship.

Although there is so much room for fraud in this subsidy scheme that marketers would take advantage of.

But when oil was 100 dollars per barrel and Jonathan wanted to remove subsidy and sell at 130 you wer part of those that argued but today crude is just 59 and no subsidy yet Buhari cant manage it and your are saying otherwise

So Buhari is secretly paying for fuel subsidy? I thought he had cancelled it long time ago? We are in trouble with this lying government of Buhari.

Marketers are not involve in importation, anymore. They ask for subsidy to be removed so their business is not tied to the apron or whims and caprice of the person in power but government refused so they washed their hands off that aspect and now buys from nnpc in Naira

We are really in trouble. Fayose had earlier predicted a hike in the official pump price. It is already imminent.

I am still baffled as to why an oil producing nation keeps experiencing recurrent fuel shortages. Nigeria is a shame

If you don't know what to say just STFU, in Saudi arabia fuel is below 50 Naira per a litre, you can fill your tank with 2000 Naira (equivalent)

They probably refine their products locally, something they have made impossibe in Nigeria. Deregulation with local refining of products used in Nigeria can solve the perennial fuel crises. When past govt argued for it, these goats in power were the one who kicked against it saying imported fuel doesn't cost more than N40/litre. Useless and senseless people.

A government of heart wrenching lies and utter scam. All i read up there were dirty lies. If these lies came from Oga Lai Mohammed, i wouldn't have flinched one bit cos he was a born liar from his mother's womb.

Lie 1:
he said that the normal consumption of PMS in Nigeria had risen to over 50 million litres per day, due to hoarding and diversion, mainly as a result of cross-border smuggling, due to the PMS price disparity that exists between Nigeria and its neighbours.
( what concerns neighbouring countries with our own country wahala abi are other countries the one governing us now? )

Lie 2:
President Muhammadu Buhari is deeply concerned about the fuel crisis and had ordered all stakeholders involved, including security agencies to ensure a speedy resolution of the situation.

Lie 3:
Baru noted that the Port Harcourt and Kaduna Refineries are currently contributing about one million litres per day and 2.8 million litres per day of PMS to the country’s fuel supply respectively, adding that since the fuel crisis began, both refineries had contributed a total of about 61 million litres.
( those refineries are in a dead and comatose state after billions spent on turn around maintenance)

That's the essence of modular refineries. When the private individuals come in and are able to reduce importation then we'd be able to regulate the prices a bit.
where then are the modular refineries? Where?

however, nobody wants to say what the actual issue is & that is the bridging costs or PEF...

PMS can be sold at a cheaper rate in places like Lagos, Ogun... but the further inland one goes, the more expensive fuel gets.

so what the FG does is to bridge the cost of getting fuel up North. in reality, 50% of the overall subsidy paid, is for the Northern part of Nigeria to get fuel at a reduced rate.

so if fuel is fully deregulated, it will be about N170 in Lagos, N175 in Ekiti, Imo, N195 in abuja, N210 in kano, N250-N300 in sokoto, Zamfara... further inland, more expensive.

this is the simple truth why full deregulation will not be allowed to come to fruition...

Why is it that public office holders dont resign in the office in Africa when they fail.? Until they are voted out.

Mbuhari and Apc have failed...the suffering is much, they are there celebrating false 75 birthday and spending 4.9bnaira to eliminate rats in presidential office, while they do not have common pain killer tablet in the presidential clinic after spending 7bnaira to equip the clinic.

Some of their sycophants will still defend them. ?....

Nigerians are suffering , no fuel to buy..,people cannot travel. Today is christmas day. Our leaders are liars and insensitive to people suffering.

I think Naira needs to appreciate since we are now earning more dollars due to increase in crude oil price.
N250/$1 should be okay for the economy. Government has refused to increased Salary for all excess money earned on crude oil price increase so there is no need to keep the exchange rate at the current rate.
The claim that they are paying subsidy do not hold water because they are already earning more money due over devalued naira.
