Wow! I am most gracious by this change. The fuckers with 3.5 on a 5 point scale had been pairing themselves with the Almighty Polytechnic Upper Class of students who arduously work to get 3.0 on a 4 point scale. Let's see how many of them would be able to achieve this feat henceforth.

They just made it easier to have higher grades.
Before first class was
4.5/5 = 0.9 or 90%
but now
3.5/4 = .875 or 87.5%.

A lot of people will go dig out their transcript and recalculate their cgpa with new system then start bragging or looking down on the newer grads.
It should help the northern brothers alot.

grin grin E be like say day never break reach Ur side. Almighty polytechnic upper class students indeed. grin

U dey this Nigeria so? Go to the job section and see the so called ''almighty polytechnic graduates'' gnashing teeth and cursing the day they took that HND form.

In fact some companies have a policy of not taking HND graduate. If u like make 4.0 out of 4.0 in the polytechnic, none of 'the big 4' will touch u with a long pole, yet they would easily take in '' those 4ckers with 3.5 on a 5.0 scale in the university'', provided they pass the test and interview.

Believe it or not, this does not change anything for a polytechnic student at all. In fact an OND holder should just wise up and take a direct entry form, cos one day there will be no job left for HND graduates with the way things are going (N.B I have HND holder friends I've been looking out for jobs on their behalf, and it's not been easy thus far)

It won't be easy o.... on 5point system, someone that gets B's and C's equally will be on 3.5(2nd class upper) and all B's on 4.0, but on a 4point scale that'll be 2.5(2nd class lower) and 3.0(the lower limit of 2nd class upper) respectively ......And E is 0unit compared to 1unit on a 5point scale

HND in Nigeria is bullshit.. You can't work in big firms.. Those first class graduate will get interviews and aptitude tests.. But HND holder won't get.. Even banks that collect any discipline don't accept HND .. There is no need to compare HND cert and BSC cert because its obvious.. Its just like comparing NCE to HND..

Everyone knows there's unemployment crisis in Nigeria. You don't need a prophet or magician to tell u that. So we know it affects everybody. But u failed to counter the point I raised. The little job available, the few companies recruiting are limiting it to B.sc holders. If u want to argue this, I will go to the job section and copy advert of some good companies that recruited recently and show u how they were particular about the bachelor's degree as a requirement.

See this is not an argument of superiority of b.sc to HND, it's a reality if what is happening in the labour market. Just like I said, I've been scouting for jobs for friends who hold HND certificate and to get them an interview invite has not been easily, yet friends with b.sc I help send out their cv still get invited for test and interview once in a while.

Some companies don't take HND holders even if he is their MD's son. If u don't know all these, then maybe u are not fully aware of what is going on in d labour market

Exactly! You don't even need a first class to get invite in any if those big 4. With 2.1 you are good to go. I remember getting to AC stage back then with KPMG while friends with HND can't even apply even with distinction (which should've been equivalent to first class on this new university grade level)

I do advise younger ones around me with OND to please get a DE form and cross to university and save themselves frustration in the labour market when they start seeing their juniors who attended uni while they are not even being given a chance to prove themselves

That's when you have noting else to do with your life other than schooling. You should also advice him to become a professor before job Hunt since even the PhD holders are jobless. You getting a job and a good one for that mata is God. Its not dependent on the degree you're carrying. Go to Nestlé, The Beng holders are hiding their degree and applying with OND. Nestlé recruit every year. Every body has his place. Any body that has chosen to graduate from a polytechnic should not be discouraged

You just keep confusing yourself. Where is PhD and being a professor coming into the discussion now?

A poster ignorantly claimed 'the 4ckers who graduated with 3.5 gpa from the university' are lesser graduate than their 'almighty polytechnic counterparts who graduated with 3.0', i disagreed with him and pointed to him how the university second class upper graduate might even get job placement in the current labour market ahead of the polytechnic distinction graduate. Yes there is stiff competition in the labour market, but the competition now becomes stiffer with some organizations not wanting to take in polytechnic graduates.

By the way, am sure the sam nestle you are referring to, the operations will definitely not be an OND holder. Yes people will do anything to get into a job. If u have bsc and OND and there's a job opening for OND holder, the wise thing one will do is use his OND cert, get something doing and start looking for ways to either render his bsc for promotion or look for better opportunity with the job experience.

You called rejected university folks who had no option but to accept polytechnic admission and finished with upper credit "Almighty" but University 2.1 graduate fuckers since they don't work arduously right. You are just embittered by the predicament of being dumped by a university, where the best brains are situated.

This is ignorance at its peak.
No wonder some organizations believe HND is equivalent to Bsc Third class, people like you are responsible for that.

You think there's no HND holder in shell? Your thinking is too myopic shell recruited for what they needed. You think cos someone didn't get admission into the university then he's dumped or a failure. If you've graduated with 2.2 in the university go to Schlumberger and see how your c.v is been thrown away. When you go in compare the number of HND and Bsc in that company. There are companies that prefar HND while others would want Bsc. majority of the oil firm as well as some manufacturing company prefers HND. Stick to where works for you. Mind you not all polytechnic student applied for uni.

You are very correct. My 4.4 on the scale of 5 if converted on the scale of 4 would have been a First Class.
Re: Nuc Approved Grades by fatai4change(m): 1:10pm On Dec 25, 2017
The challenge of unemployment in Nigeria is not an issue for HND graduates only; In fact we have more jobless University graduates in Nigeria than Polytechnic graduates. Moreover, i am a proud product of a polytechnic and i never stopped at HND. I have done my PGD and presently doing my MSc, aggrandized with several professional courses/certifications among are: Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) -Ass Member, Institute of Strategic Management Nigeria - Ass Member, Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing, SEO, SMM, SEM, Web Analytics and preparing for my CIPM - Ass exams among others. All these are built upon the foundation of my HND (Upper). More so, i have proved myself outstanding among my contemporaries, specifically when i went for SSC 43 Selection Board of the Nigerian Army at NDA, 2014 and even while at training.

My inference: First Degree/HND is just the preliminary stage of higher education in Nigeria. Further development edifies the mind and thus makes one a demand-able product for employers.

Hence, is my Upper credit not worthy of the nomenclature 'almighty'?

Use ur Bsc 2.2 to apply for nlng, total, Schlumberger and the like and see how they trash it. I bet you there are more HND and OND holders in most of these firms than Bsc . Take note also that there more Bsc graduate than HND in Nigeria. Am not saying Bsc is not good, my point is do not discourage anybody from going to a polytechnic.

Re: Nuc Approved Grades by fatai4change(m): 3:23pm On Dec 25, 2017
Also, to refute your posit that i was "rejected" by university. I never applied to university after my secondary school rather i applied to polytechnic and was admitted, i even had the opportunity of DE to LASU after my ND programme, but i rejected it. The reason for that was not just for glorification but was prompted by my goal to be the best of my field. I had seen and still seeing graduates of both polytechnics and universities and it is not a covert outcry that the former are better than the latter. Why?

The polytechnic teaches and empirically develop its products. How?

The initial two (2) years of study is subjected to experience and training (1 year I.T) and also a requirement for HND admission, thus making HND classes very interactive where every individuals will come with his/her observations and experiences.

Consequently, undergraduate studies requires not just recycling the archaic philosophy (Theory) of solving professional challenges rather a foundation philosophies and empiricalism to confute or construe the one that suits contemporary professional practice. Thus, higher degrees can subsequently enhance one's ability of proposing assertions or set of principles that fit the country and the contemporary practice. The Institute of Strategic Management Nigeria describes it as "Management theory Jungle".

This is the stance of Polytechnic education in Nigeria.
