NAF AIRLIFTS SENIOR MILITARY OFFICERS TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS WITH FRONTLINE TROOPS

A team of very senior officers from Headquarters Nigerian Air Force (NAF) celebrated this year’s Christmas with the officers and airmen/airwomen of the Air Task Force, Operation LAFIYA DOLE in MAIDUGURI yesterday. The team of senior NAF officers was led by the Chief of Policy and Plans at HQ NAF, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Muhammadu Mohammed, who represented the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar. Speaking during the celebrations, the CAS said “we have come to celebrate this year’s Christmas with our officers and men who are making the Air Force proud in the on-going fight against insurgency”. The Air Force Chief urged the personnel to continue to work together with themselves and personnel of sister Services towards speedily bringing the insurgency to a complete end. Furthermore, Air Marshal Abubakar said that for the senior officers from HQ NAF to have left their families back home to spend time with the NAF frontline troops showed that the Service recognizes and appreciates their daily sacrifices towards restoring total peace to the nation.

The CAS assured the personnel of the commitment of the Federal Government to their welfare and those of their families. He announced that the welfare package for them included refashioned post-Service housing schemes, particularly for those serving in the Northeast. He also reminded them that the same scheme had been introduced for the Non-Commissioned Officers and therefore encouraged them to make good use of the new opportunity. In addition, Air Marshal Abubakar informed the personnel of the new training opportunities available in countries such as Jordan, Morocco and Egypt, adding that the competencies being acquired from the additional training opportunities were adding value to the counterinsurgency efforts. He, therefore, urged the personnel to be steadfast, focused and unyielding in the discharge of their duties.

In a related development, the NAF also airlifted the Theatre Commander and some senior officers from the Army Headquarters (AHQ) to GWOZA to celebrate Christmas with the ground troops. Similarly, another NAF helicopter was used to airlift the Chief of Training and Operations at the Army Headquarters, Major General DD Ahmadu and the Maritime Component Commander of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Commodore Hassan Aminu to BUNI-YADI to celebrate with the troops. Earlier in his speech, the Air Task Force Commander, AVM Idi Lubo, thanked the CAS for boosting the morale of the officers and other personnel serving in the frontline by assigning very senior officers to celebrate with them. He reassured the CAS of their resolve to fight the insurgency in the Northeast with vigour until total normalcy is restored.

It would be recalled that Air Marshal Abubakar has made it a tradition for himself and other senior military officers from HQ NAF to always celebrate festive periods with frontline personnel, in appreciation of their selfless service and commitment to completely ridding the nation of the Boko Haram menace.

In a country where common sense is missing from leaders to followers. Lagos and Abuja streets should be filled with protesters for this shameless talk, a fool just released one billion dollars without knowing what it will ve spent for and he said it boldly!

On the details of what new $ 1 billion would be utilised for, the accountant general of the federation told PREMIUM TIMES to direct its inquiries to the appropriate government agency responsible for the exercise – the military.

“I am not part of the military. I am not in the theatre of war. I do not know their needs. The military knows where to apply the money. That is why the question should be directed to them,” he said."

Repeat of same crime committed by past FG 2014. If this shameless man paid salary from my tax works as accountant general in a big private company, can he sign release of one billion dollars to company engineers without asking what engineering projects the one billion dollars is meant for? Everywhere I waka go na fool I dey meet, I tire o.

Until senate pass law of death sentence for corruption and life jail for being accomplice to corruption, these financial crimes will kill Nigeria. Meanwhile, na fight we fight for petrol station getting petrol for car to go eat jollof and goat meat at Garki do Xmas.

Premium times must be stupid if they think the military will provide him a shopping list. Premium times always overhyping everything. He said he knows the money will be use for military procurements BUT not the details. That's not his job. If the FEC approves one billion dollars for you now, it's not the job of the AGF to ask you what will you use it for. his job is to give you the money. He maintains the federation account but the doesn't control it. Just like a banker who maintains your money but doesn't control it also. COMMON SENSE.

A banker keeps my money in my account with his bank, not his own money, its mine.

Accountant general of the federation keeps PUBLIC money belonging to 180 million Nigerians, its not military money, and moreover that one billion dollars is not part of the FEC approved statutory defence budget! COMMON SENSE!

FMF Okonjo Iweala also complained bitterly that as finance minister she always asks the military what they want to do with all the billions of dollars they demand more and more like Oliver Twist, but the military robbers wont explain, she asked because FMF and AGF have constitutional rights to demand explanation for expenditure cash before signing payment voucher.

Military generals are law breakers just because our FMF and AGF are personally weak enforcers of law who dont know how to resign rather than be used to defraud public treasury. The AGF can refuse to sign a billion dollars demanded for an unexplained purpose, he can resign if threatened, his sudden resignation will make senate to summon the military for discipline and start impeachment proceedings against the president. Accountant general and auditor general cannot be sacked for asking question about the public money they are empowered to keep safe as custodians of the peoples' funds. There are very strict legal conditions for sacking an AGF, his position is sensitive, his salary is not paid by presidency to guarantee his independence, uncompromised autonomy, freedom from presidential influence, his salary is drawn from a special source by special law.

That is more than just common sense, that is the CONSTITUTIONAL LAW OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA. Our face is slapped by the military against the law, some generals need to be retired immediately over this one billion dollar secret agenda, to serve as warning from now henceforth.

The money released during the Jonathan regime was embezzled together with top brass and politicians.

That's why if that man called dasukigate should reveal the whole truth a former "president" and Okonjo Iweala will end up in jail.
