Mujtahida:How could you have made this statement? I don't believe I need to list achievements of the golden generation in a Super Super Eagles thread to win an argument. I want to believe you typed the bolded in a hurry, I will give you that benefit of doubt |

komekn:I don't dislike anybody. The point that skips your mind is that even if Osimhen were to do what Solanke has done it would mean nothing to you because your prejudice would blind you to see it. The way you turned a blind eye to Iheanacho's performance at city and was praising and comparing Solanke who is yet to score a single league game proves the point I am trying to make. Sir, you are one of the least objective posters here but you are blithely unaware of it. Perhaps you have suffered racism for so long, fought it for so long you now suffer from inverted racism. As in you direct the angst you feel not at the white man but to the black man whom you might at some level feel is responsible for the racist battles you have had to fight. Just like a poor man who becomes rich hating the poor. |

goldfish80:I meant everyword of the bolded. Please tell me what each of the players in that set achieved at club level. And tell me which one was could be mentioned in the same breath as Baggio, or Gullit, or van Basten or Hagi or George Weah. |

kennysville:Of course, impossible is nothing but you must understand ths realities on ground. We still have uncertainties surrounding our Gk Our best defender cannot get a game in a mid table German club, the rest of our defenders play in the championship, Holland, Cyprus, Belgium and average Turkish clubs. Our best midfielder is based in China, while the support cast play for average Turkish clubs, Isreal and mid table premiership club The attack is spearheaded by a Chinese based striker and Chelsea's right back. Leicester city misfits and a hot and cold Belgium based winger make up the numbers Yes, impossible is nothing but we must not overrate ourselves. |

chrisooblog:Yes my brother. Like Kog.45 said they can deceive those who didn't watch football in the 90's but even the Internet will not allow them do that. If not for the Internet I don't think my memory would have been able to withstand the propaganda of this guys. The one that is worse is the two who want the team to be populated by players they love. I swear to you once the Ajagun's, the Josh maja, the ojos fill the team, all this cry that the team is filled with below average players will cease. Instead of them to own up to the fact that they are not emotionally satisfied with the team, they under under the team is below average to make their point. But I can see through their ruse. Imagine komekn using Rashidi to celebrate. I showed him that by his own philosophy, Rashidi will not smell the Eagles, imagine him using Amokachi at Everton, yet turning a blind eye to Iheanacho. Imagine him using an Amunike who for four years (I know Amunike struggled with injuries) at barca had 16 appearances and scored one goal yet he will not give Osimhen breathing space. Imagine him talking about Ikpeba yet glibly forgetting that for 3 seasons at Monaco Ikpeba struggled yet just one season of Iheanacho struggling at Leicester has made him wax a tune on the boy's plight. |

Mujtahida:HOw many players in the world could measure up to those names you listed? Our guys made the best out of what they had at the time. Finidi was rated as the world best winger at the time. I watched with pride a 30 mins documentary on espn classic years back on Finidi. He is a proper legend of Ajax and indeed European football. Emma Amuneke was something else in his prime. I came across El Hadji Diouf's interview when he was at Liverpool which he named Amuneke as his childhood idol. It dawned on me at the time that this guy indeed inspired young players across Africa not just in Nigeria. Amokachi is a proper legend and a very big name in Belgium. Historically, he scored the first ever champions league goal. I would have continued listing achievements of Yekini, Kanu, Okocha, Keshi, Richard Owobokiri, Oliseh, Rufai, Celestine BabYaro, Victor ikpeba, Taribo, etc , but it will turn into a blog post. Let's stop here abeg |

A few things. Between 1994 and 1998, it was difficult to name world class players without including Nigerians. Oliseh West Finidi Kanu Ikpeba etc We do not have that now. Nigerians are mostly omitted in that conversation. That is why the 1998 WC team individually has the best quality. However, in 1994, the team was not yet rated at that level. Because, there appears to be a confusion here. |

PROVERBZ:I talked up Stanley Ohuawuchi sometime ago. The guy caused African defenders headache these past few years in the champions league. Junior Ajayi looks a good prospect from what I saw last season but I'm not fully convinced. I really fear for Iwobi, he havent acquainted himself well om the Arsenal team. Just a goal to his name all season is simply not good enough. He had a very torrid performance against Liverpool but people here will prefer to play the ostrich. With Wilshire coming back to form and contract negotiations in view, Iwobi could see less playing time this new year. |

tbaba1234:Playing different roles for club and country is not always a good thing. This affected the balance of the English national team for years when they teied to shoehorn lampard and Gerrard in the same team. Capello and the other managers stuck Gerrard on the wings. We know how the storh ended. The partnership of Henry and Trezeguet gave France the the European championship in 2000. The 2002 team failed in Korea and Japan due to off field issues just like witnessed in 2010. |

Mujtahida:bros the thing weak me sef to the extent he cooked up some imaginary goals that dominic solanke scored to fit into his better than kc narrative or how he's always on osimhen's case or dismissive of kenneth omeruo's contributions to the national team just because he wants to promote someone else over him |

goldfish80:Iwobi had a bad first half, that was clear. Wilshere is playing a deeper role and is not in competition with Iwobi. Iwobi has not been bad this season. I have seen games where Iwobi is one of the few Arsenal players doing anything of note. But i go online and see ridiculous comments. Sanchez has been far more atrocious but does not get as much stick. Iwobi needs to convert his game play into goals and assists. Fans do not read stats on whoscored.com, all they see are goals and assists. |

goldfish80:You have not listed any achievements. Just names and clubs. I laughed when someone said that Amokachi was acknowledged in the stadium at Everton. That's nothing because the white man does such things as a courtesy.theres no time Jay Jay goes to Eintracht frankfurt and he's no given standing ovation yet some will see that and think Jay Jay was a beast for frankfurt meanwhile my guy was not even a regular as such. Tell me the club achievement of the individual players that made the USA 94 and France 98 team apart from the usual suspects. What is the achievement of Oliseh, Rufai? Okafor, Chidi Nwanu, Jay Jay, mobi oparaku, Godwin Okpara, Iroha, Taribo. They were just regular players playing for their clubs. You are doing something deceptive here and I will point it out to you now: you look at this players across the span of their professional careers and compare them to the present crop whose careers are still unfolding and say the older guys are super at club levels. Apart from Amokachi and Rashidi and Finidi, tell me where the 94 team players were before 94(WC year like majority of this set are) i have pointed out that player for player the 94 set were better. But club wise abeg drop it. They are on the same level. So you think Onyekuru will not be given legend treatment when twenty years time he goes to Belgium? Wasn't Kayode top scorer in Austria? It's a fiction this narrative you guys are pushing. And ultimately it's pointless because remove this current guys from the picture. Who do you want in the team in place of Vicmo, Mikel? Amunike is an inspiration. Is that it? So have you not read at least three players saying Mikel is their inspiration? This comparisons are a waste of time. It's like comparing Rohr with Westerhof. It would turn out to be ridiculous because Rohr is just starting. All the facts on his performance are not yet in but all the facts on Westerhof are settled. |

goldfish80:For Nigeria, it has not worked badly thus far. You recognised here that there are other factors to success not just player club form. The incredible club form of Henry and Trezeguet could not be translated into success at the WC. The costa rica team in Brazil was not much to write home about but they shocked bigger teams. A good coach works to the strengths of his available players. We see Nigeria has been more organised defensively in recent times and very willing to launch effective counters. |

goldfish80:Why is that there are always excuses for failure but none for success? The French team of 2002 had off field issues? Abeg tell me what it was cos the only thing I remember then was that Zidane wasn't exactly fit. |

Every and anybody can criticize, it's not like it is a big deal to criticize, it's not rocket science to put down this team with negativism, but with criticism, should come feasible solutions And if you can't provide solutions, you as well can shove your criticism down your throat, keep quiet , it is not needed.. All some people do is complain "that is this " , "this is that" without bring something "new" to redeem the situation.. Just keep quiet sometimes, and enjoy the moment.. No need to give yourself heart attack .. Ejor bikonu |

goldfish80:This is the thing, we have a good enough side to shock anyone. We will not be easy to beat. Even in the last WC, with a weaker squad, we were not easy to beat. |

tbaba1234:Will disagree with you vehemently. I regard Arsenal fans as the most intelligent set of fans in the world. Iwobi doesnt get as much stick Ramsey, Xhaka, Giroud,Sanchez, Wenger,Kronke or Oezil receives. Some of the criticism that came Oezil and Wenger's way is borderline hate speech which should see some people arrested. Iwobi would have been suicidal if he got half of what is thrown at these guys I listed. |

goldfish80:oga, what do you want to hear on a Nigerian forum? "That we will not come out of the group stage, because our players are very poor, we should not hope because our strikers are not banging goals every weekend" Ahh some people tire me sef.. Be realistic bro, as long as we have qualified, every Nigerian has the right to beat their chest, on their own forum, the boys deserve our confidence, and we are confident in them, despite thier travails, we believe them... And if the "believe" in the team is paining you.. Then bro, you could just ignore.. Or what you want to hear is " we will get trashed, loose all our games, in fact, we would be the worst team in the tournament" I have said it, are you happy now? Na wetin you wan hear be that on a Nigerian forum? Braaa nawa for you sef.. |
