Even Hollywood celebrities do borrow cloths for photography or award ceremony

angry People in this part of the world are damn too dumb and illiterates. The designer actually used the artist as market photo shot or model for his/her design and the artist will be paid for the photo shot. It is done all over the world. The designer reserve the rights to model with his/ her design except you plead/pay extra charges for you cloth not to be used for model.
How can she steal a cloth and the tailor didn't report to the police.
And people's comments here also very dull

Chai. You have a lot to understand on this issue.
Go and understand it first before you come here to rant.
How can you sit down and start typing comfortably over an issue you didn't even bother to understand properly. Look who is calling other people 'dumb' and 'illiterates'.

You are either ignorant of the whole show or you just decided not to have common sense (for attacking those from this side of the world)
A lady sent a material to her tailor to make an after wedding dress for her.
Tailor made the dress, sent a video proof.
Lady makes full payment for the dress.
Tailor default on sending the clothes coming up with flimsy excuses and later stopped picking up her calls.
Tailor on the evening a day to the wedding called the lady and offered to send another dress for lady to use for her wedding because she could no longer find the person she asked to send the clothes.
Lady went online and saw her clothes on mercy.

And you are defending the tailor?
You need to buy 379 naira worth of common sense.

They should leave her alone, she didn't ask the greedy designer to hijack someone else's dress for her. Designers sometimes give their works to celebs to model for them, this particular unprofessional one went on to give out a cloth meant for someone else. The entire blame should go to the designer and not the client, she has messed up her business big time.

Why are you defending her

Are you borow pose too?

If she's innocent..The most sensible thing to do would have been to publicly apologise to the bride and show remorse...now shes been insensitive and still showing off doea that show remorse? Nigerians and shitty mentality are like 5 and 6

Mercy owes no one any apology. The greedy tailor should be hung by the balls if he is a male or by her boobs if she is female.

Nothing wrong with it. You can model a designers cloth so others can see it on you and buy.
Brand influencers do it all the time.

Google the story and read. The bride bought the fabric and sent it to this tailor to sew. The bride never got the dress and had to wear something else. Your comment is the dull one.

Now she does.

She owes the bride an apology because her attention has been drawn to it.

She can get away with this in Nigeria as anything goes..but she won't in saner climes.

Her reputation is at stake here.

I don't understand what you mean.

I go to a tailor and see a fabric that I love. I negotiate for it and pay. Now you are asking her to apologize for that?
Do you think the greedy tailor told her the true story behind the fabric?
She should only apologize if she was aware that it belongs to someone else and she went ahead to pay a higher price to acquire the clothes. This can only be confirmed by the tailor.
As for tarnishing her brand, so many other useless and irrelevant things have tarnished the brand names of others. But if you go ahead to de-brand someone after hearing from one party, then you should have you head checked.

Do you think she would have worn the cloth knowing fully well that it belonged to a bride? Designers showcase their works using celebs all the time, so giving out a dress to a celeb for her birthday is not strange. If anybody should be issuing an apology, it should be the designer

1) Nigerians are intelligent, smart and brilliant. the world knows our worth in all spheres of life.

2) the designer made a costly business mistake. who makes use of a celebrity with an alleged moral/ethical tag on her integrity to sell or push forward his trade? every one is gonna think you (the designer) is as unscrupulous as the celebrity in the eye of the public.
3) the comments here lean towards shaming her and the tailor in question for ruining the most important day in the life of any woman. they are not strictly factual

Oga you did not follow the genesis of this case from the beginning. sad There was a very different red dress, which a prospective bride had given to her designer to sew for her. She wanted a specific style, made in time for her wedding. She exchanged pictures of the fabric she bought with the designer on Whatsapp, and they agreed on a fee and a date for the delivery of the dress. undecided

On the date when the dress was to be delivered, the designer was no where to be found and her phones were switched off. The bride was frantic and kept making all efforts to contact her. The bride's attention was then drawn to a photo of Mercy Aigbe, uploaded earlier that day, where she was wearing the same dress the bride had bought, and instructed her designer to make for her! Even Mercy Aigbe acknowledged online that the same designer made the dress! The bride called out Mercy Aigbe and the designer online, but both of them have kept mute till today! shocked

If Mercy Aigbe's hands were clean, shouldn't she have even offered a reason as to how the dress got into her custody and how she got to wear it in the photos that appeared online? No, she said nothing. As for the designer, what was her excuse? Her delivery person missed the way to the bride's house and couldn't be located. What nonsense!! angry Evidence of the chats between the designer and the bride, showing pictures of the fabric, were posted online for the world to see. Still, Mercy kept mute. Can you see why no one believes that even this new dress she is wearing belongs to her? Everyone feels she must gotten it by underhand means and schemes, like she got the previous one! cheesy

Why didn't Mercy Aigbe come out online to clear her name, if that was the truth?? How come she has never said anything about how the dress and the fabric it was made from, got into her hands?

dominique:

So despite the damaging allegations, why has Mercy Aigbe kept quiet all this while?? Why hasn't she cleared the air about how she got the dress? Does her reputation matter so little to her? If you were in her shoes, and you were innocent of all the allegations, would you keep quiet and let people continue to slander you, or would you state your own side of the story to exonerate yourself?

Yes now that she's aware that the dress belonged to the lady, she ought to have apologised to her and then call out the designer to clear her name. Her silence could easily be interpreted as guilt because she's not the type to keep silence on an issue like this.
