He'll try to deny it , but give him your shoulders to lean on...He doesn't need someone that will shout at him or judge him, but he needs a friend... The mentality of people who do drugs isn't to escape from worry. It is to enjoy the highlife. This is a guy who should rightly be occupied with his studies. What is worrying him? And instead of thinking he's doing drugs? He simply wants to enjoy his life while he's young and until he's tired of it, he won't stop.

You need to see how they enjoy choking other people with their smoke and making noise once they've drunk to their fill. Such people aren't worried. He's not worried. He's enjoying. All people who do drugs say so.

My brother started smoking lets say about 6-5 years ago, I only got to find out 3 years. He is my immediate elder brother so we are pretty much close, we are also from a Christian family and I can assure you that we were brought up very well. We have other elder siblings (boys).

From his story, I found out he started smoking when he got into University. He got into the federal university in my state and since we weren't based there, he lived alone in the family house.

This is someone who got into school and for his first year studying engineering, he had a very strong 2.1 and bagged Agbami scholarship. Fast forward to 3 years later, he dropped to a 2.2(which he later graduated with) and lost his Agbami scholarship. This same year he came home for hols and started being all by himself. One way or the other, my parents caught him smoking one day, dad scolded him, mum did same but later on went to plead with him to stop. He promised he would but still went back to smoking.

Right now before he goes to someone's house to maybe spend few days he would ask questions like: is there a backyard, is there a lone time in the house? Privacy etc, just so he would smoke.

He smokes weed EVERY single DAY!!!
And now he is getting really slim, anytime I try to talk to him about it he gets angry and walks away.

Just few days ago I noticed he has been drinking something he calls "purple"(he mixes it with maybe coke or ChiExotic). I went into his room and saw a bottle of tutolin which is obviously his "purple". I asked him why he was drinking it, he said he felt like and I told him I was gonna tell someone in the family.

NOW TO MY QUESTION

Should I go ahead and tell a family member/all or I should keep talking to him?

You need to go ahead and tell your parents about his condition so they can find a solution fast. If anything happens to him, you won't be able to forgive yourself for not saying anything...

Smoking weed is good as along as it is not abused and that is where self discipline comes in.

Nobody forced him to smoke weed. From my experience in life u can't change them except maybe medical( rehab). People will just b doing useless stuffs just to claim hard man. Majority of bad guys in uni smoke weed

Weed smoking is bad cos of the society we come from but sincerely as a med personnel it really has no side effects rather it has its advantages such as increasing appetite and it's also a bronchodilator which helps open up the airway. Help him stop the lean addiction but for the main time while you try help him make sure he eats really healthy to strenghten his immune system.

there are many rehabs here in 9ja. Went to one at jos,had pain killer problems. They take 60k per month and the program is for 2 months so its 120k for the 2 months. You can stay more than 2 months if the person or the persons family can afford the bill or cost. The recovering addict will be fed and housed and taken care of,there is steady light too by nesco. They have qualified white/irish councillors. The weather is perfect and the environment serene. Its managed by the church. Its the first rehab center here in 9ja.


There are so many rehabs owned and operated by the NDLEA. But theirs is too tough. He will come out worst if he gets to the NDLEA rehabs. Its just if he is ready for change

...please do anything you can to nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand. Even if it take seizing and bundling him into a REHAB. My distant cousin also loved his WEED. His father was rich so he had money to play around with. Unfortunately, he has been dutifully mad since 2003. He dropped out of school as a result. 15 years after, no remedy.

Wrong move, don't involve anyone else. its a wrong way to approach addicts, it would only make him feel ashamed and shy away further.
Best Advice: Leave him alone, rather show some understanding and he 'll feel free around you, with time u can INSPIRE him to quit.
