Hello visa officer,my uncle has a permanent residence and he is also a citizen in USA.I want to go to a university and be living in USA not on a student visa but as a permanent resident. Here is my question:can my uncle be my sponsor?Because I have been hearing that only immediate relatives can file for me.If my uncle can't file for me,how can I get a permanent residence apart from through spouse?
PS:-My uncle and I bear the same surname.

You heard correctly. There is no visa classification for which an uncle can sponsor a nephew or niece. For more information about immigrant visa classifications please review our website at:

Compliments!LagosNIV,
Is it wrong to give ur spouse your passport with valid visa to visa interview to enhance her chance?. Is it wrong to apply for your new wife when the former is divorced and married to a US citizen and lives in the State now? And you did not applied with her in the first instance.
A visa was revoked based on the above questions and the VO request that the owner can reapply with the new wife. VO said she's not convinced they are married. Is it right to revoked the visa without recourse to the owner when he has not violated the use of the visa.
Thank you.

Hello LagosNIV,

Please, I'm confused about something. My supposed monthly pay is different from my actual monthly earning due to some deductions as a result of the upfront payment that my company gives. Please, if asked what my monthly pay is, what would you advise me to say my monthly pay is?
Let me give an example. A man is supposed to earn 600k monthly (7.2 million annual income). In the first year, the company pays him over say 3 million naira upfront. Now, his actual monthly payment is 600k minus deductions as a result of the upfront payment spread over 12 months. Actual monthly pay now amounts to 300k. What should he tell the VO is his monthly pay if asked? 600k or 300k?
looking forward to your response. Thanks

Hi I am writing on behalf of my sister. She and her family applied for America visa this past December 2017 and was refused based on the fact that the VO said it was an order from above that all family application should be refused at the moment. Can you please use your good office to shine more light on this information. Thank you.

Hello VO,

Do I need to submit a vacation form at the embassy if I am going on a trip in a public holiday?
In context, between March 30 to April 2, 2018, Ghana will celebrate Easter holidays, if I want to travel to the US for 5 days, do I need to submit my approved vacation form for this period?

Thanks.

Hi Vo,

I have travel to Lagos on 12/23/2017 and was scheduled to leave on 12/31/2017. My passport and permanent resident card (207-463-749) was lost. I'm trying to retrieve new passport which I should have later today or first thing in the morning. I'm in need of an appointment to bring in the documents including my application for travel document. I'm due to return to work on 1/4/2018. I know I will not make that but trying to get cleared to leave by weekend so I may return to work on 1/8/2018. I have no more money, I'm out of medication as I only traveled with enough for the original time of visit. I need to get back to the united states to join my family.

Compliment of the Season VO.. Pls I'm writing on behalf of my Sister. She got married to A US Citizen few months back.. The said Husband is a Nigeria man who won a Visa Lottery about 23yrs ago.. then He filed for her wife and three Children and they all are now a US citizen.. now this Man has been divorced for more than 7yrs before he later met my sister here in Nigeria who was a widow for more than 6yrs before they eventually got married 3months ago . The husband wants my sister to come down to the US permanently and he doesn't know how to go about this any longer based on its been long he did that.. Now my question is what type of Visa Category will I have to file for my Sister here? What are the necessary documents the husband needs to send down to us?? Having filed for a wife before though they are now divorced, does this has anything to do with my Sister? ... NB: the said man is a federal civil servants in the US.. thanks

Hello VO

My husband's brother filed a F4 petition for him in 2016 and I was listed as a derivative beneficiary.

I am preparing to renew my US B1/B2 visa now

1) Does the F4 petition reduce our chances of getting a B1/B2 renewal, as our case won't be current for about another 10 years

2) When answering the DS-160 Question "Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services?", should my answer be Yes or No, as I am not the direct beneficiary of the petittion

Thank you

Hello LagosNIV,

My cousin was recently banned for 5 years from entering Canada as a result of a misrepresentation he made in his application for a study permit ( He forgot to indicate that he was once denied a visa to US in 2013, thinking that the question was asking if he been denied visa to Canada).

My question is that can he still to study in America, without the ban in Canada affecting his chances of getting a visa?

Thank you very much.

I attended my f1 interview today but was kept on administrative processing. I am very worried as my school resumes next week. The VO collected my bank statements and said as soon as it is verified my f1 visa would be approved but I have no idea how long it would take. Please help.
