The civil service is under the purview of the Executive and only the Executive can probe (just as many screamed of the judiciary and NJC) it's employees on the basis of employment or retrenchment/dismissal

So why did Malami honour the invitation from the senate in the first place?

Malami is doing the presidents desires because he is happy they are doing their assignment well. He did not place them in strategic positions for nothing. Malami is part of the cabals that is why he can order the court to stop probe of a thief. The president seem not to be in charge and has never been. We can see why Malami and senators are after Magu and the files of the thieves he collected from Magu to free them from been probe. Of course, he collect bribe to free them. Malami is a youth, isn't it? Just like Demeji Bankole, Malami has further ruined the chances of the not bold youth foreclosing youth coming out because they are afraid they might be killed by the desperate leaders.
