I have one galaxy s8 which was claimed to be unlocked b4 buying it,put in my sim and it's writing "invalid sim card,sim card not supported"if i go to settings and search for available networks,it will bring different networks but wont allow me to register on it.it even installed the mtn app on the phone when i inserted d sim,if i try to call...it will say "not registered on network"
I made an enquiry and they said if it is locked,it should prompt for an unlock code immediately i put my sim inside.even if i wana unlock again,d phone is not asking for any unlock code.I was told to take it to ikeja,but my place is far...in kwara state presently.i dialed the secret code #7462565*638*# but still doesn't prompt for any unlock code.i have tried different sims

Usually u av just 9, 5 or just 3 attempt to enter unlock code, if uve pass this attempt then u will need a sound software tech to unlock the device and buy the way..... I for help u if only u are in lagos...

But will still cost u close to 25k sha

that is not the case,even if they av attempted the unlock code many times b4,it should ask for unfreeze code

maybe ur imei/Nvdata/EFS partition is corrupted.......

just a wide guess though.

Have you used a gsm sim card with it before? What is the original network?

The phone is probably an unlocked cdma phone which will not work with a gsm sim

post the full model number and baseband version

i haven't used any sim with it b4.the original network is at&t.model number:SM-G955U
Baseband version:G955USQS1AQF7

Ok. Get a premium at&t unlock code, around 6k+ if u can. then enter #7465625*638*, the unlock code, and #.

Network lock deactivated will show up to confirm its been unlocked

that is the problem am facing.the code is not working on my phone.it wont display anything

Get the unlock code and input it before #.
That's the only available option i know
