jumboo:Go and re-read the article. He said that, in addition to writing the President, he also went to meet him in person and informed him of the threat. I only blame him for being naive and not realizing that Buhari, a tribalist, will actually support his Fulani terrorists to attack. He should not have disarmed his people. I hope he is wiser now. |

"Meanwhile, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Benue State Chapter, has insisted that the recent killings were a deliberately planned jihad and not agitations for grazing as claimed by sections and enemies of the state."CAN! *BY NOW CAN WILL HAVE ISSUED STATEMENT & ⛽ FUELED RELIGIOUS SENTIMENT•* *In another news: Imagine what will happen If it were Nasir El-Rufai or Almakura that's exposed to have Armed 1000 Men with AK-47 Rifles and paying them Salary in Kaduna or Nassarawa State like Governor Ortom had done in Benue State today?* *By now, CAN will have issued Statement and further fueled religious and ethnic Sentiment. FFK will have released his usual bigoted Islam a phobic Post. All nay Sayers of this Country will have come together by now and break the internet with a call for War.* *Print media will have already Started using this report in every Cover of their daily newspapers and Magazines.* *It's sad that a Governor who's crying fowl over insecurity in his State will Arm 1000 Strange Men with AK-47 rifles and other sophisticated Weapons that even CJTF who help Nigeria Army in Borno to quash Boko Haram were never allowed to Carry.* *May God continue to expose every evil foist to cause insecurity and bring dead, division and destruction of lives and properties to our people irrespective of religion, region, tribe and or ethnic background.* *May God bless Nigeria Army and the Security operatives.* |

Ortom is a failed governor and he is deploying divisive tactics to attract public sympathy to his government.....His anti-grazing law is meant to malign the fulanis who have coexisted with the tivs and idomas in benue for many years and why would they now take up arms against anyone? Because Ortom has failed to notch up the infrastructural level of the state and deliver on his electoral promise, he came up with a useless law to create disunity in the state; does it mean it's only fulani people that engage in cattle business and there are no farmers amongst them? And does it mean there are no herdmen among tiv and idoma people?...so what's his problem with Fulani-herdsmen when indeed we also have tiv-herdsmen and idoma-herdsmen? Go to benue, there is no road project to show in the three years of Ortom government; no structured transportation system instead the state is characterised by "okada and keke napep" everywhere; no flyover; no hospital; he's owing workers salaries and recent Waec results have shown benue state as one of the worst performing; benue under Ortom is poor in IGR generation and depend solely on federal allocation. Instead Audu Ogbeh should be commended for bringing prosperity to yam farmers in benue and he appears to be taking shine off the state government from Abuja. So Ortom had to come up with an anti-grazing non-sense pretending to be contributing to the lot of the farmer. Let Ortom show what he has done for benue farmers other than anti-grazing lies.....This is exactly the point Governor Lalong of Plateau state was insinuating. So what do you expect a sinking governor with this kind of performance to do knowing that another election is approaching? This explains his shameful tactics of using anti-grazing law to cause chaos in an otherwise peaceful state....He doesn't want benue people to ask questions hence he created a situation that would put them in a mourning mood and kept blaming the federal government and attracting public sympathy. The innocent blood he has spilled will judge him. |

omenkaLives:Run along, you're my slave. You think whoever counters your shameful comments is Igbo or IPOB as you guys call them here. And in case you forget, even slaves have levels. If your Igede Kinsmen are ever given the opportunity to be Libyan slaves and drug pushers like you mentioned, you people will worship that person like God. I'm more Benue than you as you're Igede. Those calling you a Benue guy never knew you're a slave in Benue. You that your kinsman was deputy governor for eight years and thereafter went to contest to become a councillor and lost. Low lifers with stinking inferiority complex. If you think you have arrived in life, think of how to liberate your people from the abject poverty they are facing, not coming to type rubbish here. |

omenkaLives:what are u saying? are those reasons enough for Fulani herdsman to kill innocent people? God! one wonders at the way some if u guys reason, so because he has not paid salaries Fulani's herdsmen should kill the people, after all they were e already dying of hunger. |

Ortom should be blame of this ill treatment. FG is not ruling Benue alone but entire country. How can somebody lives in Abuja protects people lives in Benue. Ortom is the chief security of Benue state, so he should protects his people and stop blaming FG. |

tizzle:Bros. The situation is very delicate. If you only will calm down I will explain. There is more to this issue than meets the eye. Please, understand that whenever the communities make efforts to defend themselves, the military will swiftly descend on them and either arrest them or disarm them completely leaving them defenceless and helpless. Once again, the situation is not that easy. If you desire to know the truth, take some time and read some of my posts. This is more than herdsmen issue. |

bamite: poseidon12:I guess the release below from the presidency shows why Ortom is irresponsible to have made that statement. It was an obvious lie. Benue Killings: Reports Vice President Ignored Benue Governor's Letter Absolutely False Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, was shocked by a news report ostensibly quoting the Benue State Governor Sam Ortom as saying that the VP was warned of the savage and inhumane killings by alleged herdsmen in Logo and Guma local government areas which took place on the 1st of January 2018. Although the Vice President, Prof. Osinbajo, does not believe that the Governor could ever have said so, it will be a terrible falsehood to suggest that the VP was ever informed by the Governor or anyone else of the imminence of the killing of citizens of our country in those or any other local governments in Benue State. Governor Ortom wrote to the Vice President, then Acting President, on 7th June 2017 protesting a newspaper publication where the leadership of Miyetti Allah was reported to have stated that it was opposed to the Open Grazing Prohibition law of the State and that they would mobilize to resist the law. The Miyetti Allah had written to the Vice President on the 5th of June 2017 on the same law protesting several sections of the law. The Governor went on to say that the leadership of Miyetti Allah should be arrested because they used words such as “wicked, obnoxious and repressive,” to describe the law, and because these were “utterances that are capable of undermining the peace...” The Vice President subsequently met with the Governor, discussed the matter and the security situation in the State and then ordered law enforcement agencies to be on the alert to prevent any attacks or violence. This was in June 2017! In the said letter written by the Governor, there was no mention of any threat to any specific one of the 23 local governments of Benue State, so the best the law enforcement agencies could do even then was to await information or intelligence of an imminent attack. None came. Since then the VP has held several meetings with the Benue State Governor, including a visit to the State on the 6th of September, last year at the behest of Mr. President during the tragic floods in the state last year. At all such meetings, the Vice President discussed the security situation of the State with the Governor. Following that, the then Acting President convened a major national security retreat which was attended by all State Governors, service chiefs and heads of security agencies. The Retreat featured very detailed discussions on the herdsmen/ farmers’ clashes. To the best of our knowledge, neither Governor Ortom nor the Federal Government was aware of the imminence of the cowardly attack on Logo and Guma on the 1st of January, and therefore any suggestion that the President or the Vice President ignored the State Governor’s warning is both absolutely false and certainly misleading.
