Aah at d time i applied, online portal wasnt evem loading, so i sent hard copies and in the PDF document i got that contsined the advert, their was no such thing as referees should send a letter. All they asked was Name and addresses of 3 referees.

If you check your online page under referees' section, you will find it stated clearly there. Besides, since I have been following the recruitment patterns of universities in Nigeria, there is no university that will not ask you to make your referees send their reports directly to the school. But all the same, do as you seem proper. Cheers...

Hmm...Just remain positive... The most important point is that, you applied. (But always follow instructions to the last letter: it pays.)

Now i want to apply to another institution, the instructions are the same with that of Gashua, my confusion however is; im i going to get letters from my referees and attach to my application bfor submitting? Or they are going to send the letters individual directly to the institution. Kindly clarify, i dont wanna goof another opportunity. Bearing in mind i am applying for the position of a Graduate Assistant. Thanks

This is it: the institution (if it's a university or polytechnic) expects you to sensitise your referees to send their reports or recommendation letters on you officially to them (her); separately from your own main application in an envelope (that means if it's done manually). You're not to attach their recommendation letters to your own application. Your referees should send them separately. In most cases, one's referees might be very busy to post the recommendation letters, so you could help them to post the letters at the post office. (I use post office for such things because it works well for me.) It's very cheap as well. But never attach the letters/reports to your application that you would be submitting to the institution: they're separate requests from the institution (I mean your application and the recommendation letters), though for a single purpose. You get the explanation now?
